And it is medieval based fantasy regardless of how many women are in it, so what is your point?

Try to keep up. You previously claimed "This set is not based on medieval times. It is fantasy."

I'm glad that you now agree 😉

Silly question coming - I like the set can you just get the GWP and buy it outright or do you have to spend the minimum to get it?

only on the Lego website it is listed as £25.99 but it also says gift with purchase

Again with the freaking woman in this. Why do they continue to push this culture war shit in Lego? Leave us alone! I agree with all here who oppose current day politics in Lego. It's a kids toy not an indoctrination camp into what the university elites believe the world should be like. And I can't recall any woman among the Dragon Knights.

I'm obviously not against women, I love them, even in Lego, what I'm against is when it feels shoe horned because of woke politics at the Lego marketing department. There's too many woke people there who care more about virtue signalling their politics than what they care about Lego.

No, you cannot purchase GWP's from Lego. The price is just there because they need to invoice it somehow. You can however buy it on secondary market from resellers who place several orders and get multiple GWP's to make a nice profit. Just wait a few weeks for the prices to drop.

It's a culture war when Lego throws in a minifig with a prostetic leg or hearing aid or other handicap or a female knight or a random nougat or reddish brown colored Hogwarts student?? Lego simply wants everybody to feel represented in their toys.

It would be funny if it would not be that sad, that middle aged man get angry when there is a female knight in their plastic toy.

The comment was regarding this Lego set and characters, not other fantasy stories or hop pickers. The set is undoubtedly mediaeval based, and the knight is undoubtedly historically a male role

The set is - like every other Castle set - existing in the fantasy genre, which as I said before is inspired by medieval aesthetics but has its own genre trappings and rules and is not beholden to stringent standards of historical accuracy. In any case, you were the one who brought medieval folklore into the discussion, so I was just providing some examples of folklore which I happen to know do speak to women in "knightly" roles.

I just hope Lego listens to what their customers are asking for in future instead of imposing PC interpretations on everyone.

Oddly, it seems that most people's issues with the set are the build, the parts used or the Majisto minifigure, with minor emphasis on the new Dragon Knight torso - rather than the "PC" boogeyman.

Basically anyone with more than a line or two does. Off the top of my head the ones not yet mentioned include- Fox, Fives, Echo, Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, Wrecker, Jesse, Doom, Kix, Hardcase, Appo, Thorn, Hevy, O'Niner, Droidbait, Cutup, Colt, Hammer, Matchstick, Oddball, Jag, Broadside, Warthog, Bly, Bacara, Vaughn, Sterling, Neyo, Wolffe, Booster, Gree, Boil, Waxer, and Thire.

I didn't even realise there were that many clones with lines. There's the one on Kashyyk who Yoda kills, and the one who falls off the gunship in Episode 2 - when else are they speaking?

The presence of a woman in a plastic toy is not "culture war" (also, since when have swear words not been automatically censored? Have I just been working off faulty assumptions of how the forum software operates for years?)

You mean all the people who are up in arms because Lego has had the audacity to include a female minifigure in their fantasy-based plastic toy for children?

The amount of people in this thread (and some others over the last few months) claiming that toys have nothing to do with culture truly makes me question the overall level of Western education :pir-grin:

Where has anyone in this thread said that toys have nothing to do with culture?

People are making the distinction between culture (which encompasses music, folklore, television and yes, toys) and culture wars (which is essentially cultural elements turned into political weapons).

If you can't see the obvious correlation here — what else can I say :shrug_confused:

If you're talking about a correlation between culture and culture wars then that is inherent, as culture wars use culture as their ammunition. That doesn't mean they're one and the same, and acting like people think toys don't have anything to do with culture - in this thread - is absurd.

If that's not what you mean then you'll have to be more specific, because your message isn't coming across.

In any case, the culture war here isn't Lego putting a female minifigure in a set in keeping with their practices of equal representation; it's people ragging on them for daring to represent women.

Hoakay

You know what staff don't like on the forum? A big, sprawling flame war in a thread for a a nice LEGO set.

@F1stzz you have been told before about egging on arguments. That's a note to remember. People who fan the flames for fun are not good members of the commuinty.@Sir Blew It is not historical. It is not supposed to relate accurately to history. It is LEGO, not a museum scale model for education. You might be upset to hear Wizards didn't live in castles and certainly didn't look like Merlin from the Disney Sword in the Stone animation, if a woman being a Knight is harder to accept than that it's not a great look. LEGO is not an accurate representation of any kind of history. It is a toy for boys and girls to enjoy. It might not be what @Captain_SoyBeard wants to hear either, but 23 years ago LEGO had a Princes in Armour. That was in the year 2000 you know. Well before anyone was sobbing online about "woke" and "virtue signalling". It might also be upsetting to hear that 30 years ago I, a girl (gasp!) was using permeant marker to draw longer hair onto a generic head so I could play at being a Knight with my LEGO (I also didn't have any castle sets, so using my imagination, I substituted Aquazone Diving gear and flagpoles for armour and swords. The "horse" was brickbuilt) LEGO are listening to markets and just sticking in some parts for fair and equal play.  If you think it is a negative agenda to include people, all people, then maybe find some other like-minds elsewhere. The best bit though, is anyone demanding a full on sausage party can easily swap the head for the manliest man-man head they can find. Here's one glorious example new this year. Or this guy, if you want to be less anachronistic, LEGO minifig heads are interchangeable! All this hate for AFFOLs, because that is how it reads to me the staff who is a woman, needs to stop. It is not welcoming or pleasant to read in a community that has always wanted and tried to be friendly. You both might find yourselves having a private chat with Staff which may not result in a return to the public forum.

@Alexandrina It is frustrating to read I know, but next time please report it, some people do not want to be reasoned with, they simply want to argue or get their knickers in a twist.

Everyone Else, I have not mentioned you by name, but you have been warned.

Has my tone been completely irreverent? Yes. I am not going to service this with any sort of respectful approach. It is frankly ridiculous. I am unlocking the thread, I am sure you are all brimming with vitriol after reading this post. :shrug_oh_well: I am volunteering my time to help run a (normally) fun and creative community online, you are arguing about printing on a plastic cylinder. Recall though, who can edit member access.

The scroll is just a sticker on a 2x2 tile

Ew. Maybe it's because it's limited edition but they make NEW MOLDS for all kinds of other stuff.

I did not have "Moderator implies "Most soldiers were/are men so I prefer the sets to have mostly male soldiers" is code for "I hate women"" on my bingo card for 2023

Minus the skirt and printed torso we are at a part out value (PaB only) of 50€.

And imagine how much cheaper this would be on bricklink. I'd hazard a guess that without the figs you could get this cottage for ~$20-25, including shipping, and probably another $10-15 max for the figs.

Ironically the guy who falls off the gunship doesn't have a name, but there's a 2 season 2D animated microseries titled "clone wars", a 7 season 3D animated series titled "The clone wars" and it's 2 (soon to be 3) season spinoff about more clones, as well a number of appearances in other animated and live action shows. One even got retconned into ROTJ.

Don't worry, you can add misreading a comment to the card instead. Don't push the argument again.

Not for GWPs they don't.

Oh yeah I remember the attempt to retcon a clone into ROTJ. I reject that wholeheartedly because it's an example of Filoni thinking he's better than everyone else. I did try the Clone Wars series but it was so dire I put it all out of my mind (I have a vague memory of a half-naked Kit Fisto swimming in a pool which I'm not sure if it was a dream or not)

Makes me wonder what the general consensus about stickers is for different markets.

I'd imagine broadly the same all round, with AFOLs more likely to reject stickers than kids. There was a big long thread somewhere about stickers versus prints, but I haven't seen it for a while. I'm surprised nobody's dug it up to talk about the stickers in Majisto.

My kids love the stickers in sets.

JANG made a great comment a little while ago about how he sometimes views stickers as helpful. If a new part comes with a print, you lose versatility of the part, but with a sticker, you can choose not to apply it and use the new part for something else. Others would say that's a post-rationalization, but I liked the idea.

I generally don't care about stickers, unless you expect a lot of interaction with the piece. The shutter stickers in this are fine, but the scroll sticker is disappointing, as it will likely get damaged when a minifigure holds the side of the scroll.

Well, now that I see the inside and the printing on the torso...

I thought for sure they were going to improve the inside since modern sets usually have great interior details.  This reproduction is really lacking!

UGH!!!  For me the worst part is the torso printing.  Which ironically is also the only unique part in the entire set for us to chase after.
The silverish collar might not look good when I remove the silver pauldrons/helm and replace them with a black helmet.  This might be the worst possible outcome for this set.

If I was not a castle collector, I would not get this set at all.  If I didn't want to get the Viking village sets, I would just get this off of Bricklink.

On second thought...  Perhaps I will just hang at the LEGO store and offer $30 in cash to people who are getting it free with their large purchases.  I am certain I can get the Viking village at a future date for less than full price and only double points.

I really hate TLG taking advantage of castle fans by denying us the sets we want, and trying to force us to buy sets we don't want just to get the castle stuff!  FOMO marketing is terrible IMHO.

Haven't been to the LEGO store in months.  You don't have to pay for this membership to still get VIP points do you?

Looking closely at the new minifigure, I'm actually really hoping we get another Dragon Knight set at some point (or they at least find their way to PAB). The torso, especially with the back detailing, is a really good update and fits nicely with other modernisations.
