Posted May 25, 20231 yr Okay so basically this is just a work in pogress of my 1:8 fk8 moc. So far ive made the front part with steering, suspension, and gearbox. (Ignore the engine for now) Up to now i am happy with the results of the suspension and steering (a hidden axle is linked to it where it will be connected to the steering wheel later on). The gearbox is a 6 speed manual gearbox (H styleshifting). It's bigger than i expected but i guess it's fine for now. The parts where i feel like needs a change is the shifter stick. Right now it is around 2.5 studs higher than the correct scale which kinda bothers me. Any improvements/suggestions will help! especialy for the shifting stick! May 25, 20231 yr Honestly those front wishbones will not be strong enough to support those springs. Even without the springs the setup will be too fragile as it is. Plus the arrangement is 6 studs wide, you’ll struggle to even fit a rim on that let alone have any range of motion with the steering. You are going to really struggle fitting those shocks in a FWD, steered axle. I would suggest trying with 2 of the normal hard springs per wheel instead.

That was one thing I worried about… it does have a lot of room for improvement for better stability. 28 minutes ago, langko said: Plus the arrangement is 6 studs wide, you’ll struggle to even fit a rim on that let alone have any range of motion with the steering. I did not realize about that at all… Thank you for pointing it out before it becomes a lil too late, I’ll try the regular hard springs then and reconstruct the other needed areas
May 25, 20231 yr Cool concept with the front wheel drive and manual gearbox. Will probably be challenging to make it work but that is after all why we build, right? :)
May 25, 20231 yr Looks fun! Are you planning on making it RC? If so, you're going to have to be very careful with bracing that gearbox, because 6-speeds add a lot of friction, which makes skipping gears a very attractive alternative for the motors to take if possible!

Although it is hard to do it, I do find it as a fun process (with ups and downs of course) 2 hours ago, 2GodBDGlory said: Looks fun! Are you planning on making it RC? As of now, I have no plans on making it RC yet. But thanks for the tip anyways, I’ll be aware of it in the future if I decide to make an RC
