the Inventor Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 (edited) The Nakano Camera Corner is a famous camera shop in district 7. Sakura is waiting in front of her dad's shop, waiting for Alicia to hang out. Here are some more details of the capsule hotel (reference to Neuromancer by William Gibson, cheap hotel). and the apartment block on the right side of the building with the Octan energy sign: See also: [MOC] District 7 - A cyberpunk figbarf - LEGO Sci-Fi - Eurobricks Forums Edited May 29, 2023 by the Inventor Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Excellent work, especially using the octagonal tubes! Quote
Crazy bricks Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 That's incredible, looks really amazing. Nobody ever thinks to use those yellow tube-like parts, but you've pulled it off. Great work! Quote
MKJoshA Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Your use of Aquazone tubes for siding is inspired! Love all the details like tile-built letters. Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Wonderful building I love the contrast between the yellow part of the facade and the rest of the building! There are many great details. My favorite one is the broken downpipe, where some flowers grow. What's the meaning of the build letters? If anything? Quote
the Inventor Posted May 31, 2023 Author Posted May 31, 2023 Thanks all. @Yperio_Bricks really had fun making that rain pipe detail, glad you noticed. The Japanese Katakana on the yellow facade mean camera (カメラ). And the little shop next to the vending machine means Soba (そば) a type of buckwheat noodles if you don't know. Quote
Berthil Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Very nice, great details on every facade and corner! Quote
danth Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 I will echo the accolades on the Aquazone parts usage, looks wonderful. And that vending machine is inspired. Any relation to the actual Nakano ward in Tokyo? That place is about as close to heaven as I could get. Especially Nakano Broadway which is an old school anime fan's dream mall. Quote
Feuer Zug Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Brilliant building design. The octagonal bricks are a stroke of genius. All the externally mounted air conditioning units are fitting as well. Quote
_TLG_ Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Really cool build, I like the brick built japenese text and the airconditioners especially! There are mayn nice details :) Quote
the Inventor Posted June 11, 2023 Author Posted June 11, 2023 (edited) Thank you all. @danth it wasn't directly inspired by it, but it does indeed fit. I haven't been there myself, I was only a few days in Tokyo when I was there, but I have ordered some second hand stuff from the actual Nakano though. Edited June 11, 2023 by the Inventor Quote
