I think this depends on the specific mould(s). I tested my neon yellow parts (which I'm certain to be new) and I notice no difference in clutch strength for studs in holes compared to what I'm used to. The   all seem to act normal.

So I hope your experience is a one-off (I mean, part-specific) because I often use the plates-in-holes technique to join long beams end-to-end by 1x4 plates  (or Technic bricks by 1x5 rotor plates) for a super-rigid connection.

I'm so happy that I was right about the hubs and the new, shorter CV axle. Also really, really happy that the new hubs come preassembled and prelubiracated with lower slack.This opens a whole new world for my high performance personal and professional projects.

Those are definitely exciting parts! Now the HD CV joint setup seems fully developed, and I doubt we'll see the old one much, if any, in future sets.

Yes, after all these years we have a complete reinforced driveline starting from the differentials, CV joints and now the hubs. I kindly ask the Technic design team to use them as much as possible, everywhere, even though they might be harder and more expensive to manufacture (since they have to be lubricated and ultrasonically welded together).

Don't care about the facial expression, but I do find it weird that you are often calling new sets legendary. In my mind, something becomes legendary over time, so new stuff cannot be legendary by definition.

New hubs look great with minimal slop and larger CVs. I wonder how much friction they have compared to the previous small CV joint version. The new tyres also look great for heavy duty machinery like mobile cranes and so on. Still I do hope for skinny wheels like you'd get on an 18 wheeler but these are still very nice. The price is also very good considering all the PU elements.

It is almost complete. We are still missing a good gearbox that has low friction and is realistic. But apart from that it is complete and that is great to see.

There are some negatives though and they are all around control+/powered up. I still don't get why the hub needs 4 screws! Only one is needed to prevent access "without a tool" and I'm still not sure if that regulation even applies to AA batteries. And far from there being any improvements to the app, let alone any proportional physical remote available even as a separate accessory, the app seems to have got worse! What happened to the code block environment with icons made in MS paint? And the steering also looked slow to respond to input with a noticeable delay, but seemed much quicker to return to centre. Have they given up on developing powered up? Might explain the price drop! But then there's the price of the Liebherr sooooo.....

A question for @kbalage follow up video, for easy alternative gearing options, is it possible to swap the new hub for the planetary hub for a slow crawler? How easy is it to swap the Daytona diff for the red one, and is it worth the trouble?

Those tyres had better be in the next Volvo set or there'll be trouble, TLG!

The new hubs are without break discs. They also cannot be mounted the same way the old ones are on the Ferrari Daytona SP3 for example. So these new ones are not strictly better.

Edit: Nevermind, I realize you might be refering to the CV joints only. Sorry.

I asked myself the same question, since the new ones actually allow the gear rack to steer like a few mm more. I think this a reflection of the design development duration, at the time the set was designed, there was no straight 12 tooth gear available? Or they used the bevel ones on purpose to limt the steering angle? Or to reduce color vomit? This specific issue is very common in current sets, some use the old bevel gear, some the straight one...

Another loader, I'd say. We've had several repeated subjects in the Volvo range, mainly loaders.

The new hubs are weaker in some situations than the old ones as they do not allow for an axle passthrough. The shorter axle has been in my MOCs for years lol. The problem of braking parts has been reduced lots but still is a problem for fast rc, but the plastic melting is becoming a limiting factor now even with grease. I hope Lego adds elements featuring bearings in the next few years...

I actually replaced the new ones from 42156 with the older double bevel ones, made for a much smoother operation, it seemed that, for me anyway, they meshed too tightly, once the front end clips onto the chassis, bracing the other side of the gears.
