As long as the branding on the sides of the train are not stickers, which will really cheapen the set at not make it worth buying for me.

I think it will have stickers (it´s a lot of printed bricks). It seems there are some pieces in new colours, and apparently complete new pieces also.

Where is the link?

Not sure if it's allow to post links here, but just Google "lego 21344" for images from the last 24 hours, it comes up as one of the first.

It’s been pointed out that this is the Japanese on the image, I would have no clue for verifying that.

loco looks brilliant, I think Lego’s choice to round brick the smokebox face beyond the cylinders is a solid move on their part, and the buffer situation is a good way of going at it. The only nitpick is that I’ll be ordering a 2H9L rod so I don’t have a random hole in the main rod, but other than that this looks fantastic.

So I guess we will see a revail soon. And I think they present the set along with the other we saw these couple of weeks, like the Museum and Avengers tower.

What colour do we think this is? I had originally assumed Earth Blue, but it looks too light for that. And in the Friends 42620 house, you can see the roof top is made of Earth Blue, but the side is a lighter blue. It's surely not Bright Blue, is it? It looks like the same colour as the Orient Express. Is this a new colour? Or Dark Royal Blue coming back?

Orient Express definitely looks Earth Blue. The Friends house you posted has an Earth Blue roof with Bright Blue trim.

Fair enough. The trim looks so much darker than Bright Blue, but could easily be the photo and/or my screen.

I'm still impatiently tapping my fingers on my desk, awaiting the release date.

My modding plans include enlarging the firebox area, dropping the cylinders down lower, and spacing the front bogie wheels out farther. I might add a single trailing wheel as well, but still debating that.

I've been over on reddit hating for a bit but the perspective definitely helps a bit. Personally I'd like to add some chunky smoke detectors to the front but that may also be since I've been wanting the Emerald Night since I was 10 lol

Seeing this image gives me a couple of fears: (1) this shot and the two lifestyle photos from the "lost catalog" all have the "rods down" on the locomotive, i.e., the wheels are at 6 o'clock. Looking at how the connecting rod attaches at the cylinder it might not move. (2) clearly there is no front magnet, the "lost catalog" shows something between the cars but it might not be magnetic couplers.  On the other hand, the tender definitely looks like it was designed to hold a PU Hub and the geometry of the wheels on the locomotive looks like it was designed to operate. So maybe there is a slider on the cylinder. The tender appears to have normal train wheel holders and it looks like 4 studs between the rails, all of which suggests it can operate on normal track.

The rods are moving! I check this photo, with the one of the catalog, and they are at a different possition in every picture. I will be sad if there are no magnetic couplers, because, that mean we cannot use the car from the emerald night. I hope this is not the case.

Where can we order this one ? (another fake news?) The chinese or japanese were fast to copy this thing and this time it´s not illegal.

Potential prototypes the locomotive is based on:

SCNF 230

Prussian P8

Anymore for anymore? By extending wheelbase and dropping cylinders its not too far off a blue P8 imo.

My guess based off of this new photo is that they're doing what most of us do and choosing to omit an axle piece going in and out of the cylinder to really bring the union link right up to the cylinder. You'd probably need 3 studs of play for the rod. I can't wait to get this side by side with the Emerald Night, some people are saying the cylinders are too high but that looks on the money for 10194's clearances so the pilot bogie can handle R40.

Also, didn't catch that plow they've got below the buffer beam!

Regarding the valve gear, the two rods appear to be connected to part 6536, which slides on a technic axle under the running boards. So it doesn't look like we have anything moving on and out of the cylinders themselves. Someone mentioned this earlier, but its does look like the buffers on the coaches are brick built like the engine, which makes me curious what connection they came up with instead of magnets.

Overall pretty satisfied with the set. The coaches look great both inside and out, and they've finally added in some additional details that have been omitted from previous steam locomotives.

With the new side rod piece, maybe they made a new coupling piece. Im hoping they are going all in with this set.

At least we know the carriages are kept in pearl gold and not fyo.
