A base would be great, but a lot of the best bases were monorails (definitely not happening) or 6987 (seems less likely since we just got a Blacktron 1 set). The bases also relied on the quarter dome panels that they have probably retired the molds for. Maybe one of the classic bases like the Beta 1 base would work.

I voted for Starfleet Voyager, Cosmic Cruiser, Galactic Mediator, and Deep Freeze Defender, but my strongest preference would be for the Galactic Mediator. I really like the double-delta planform of the Galaxy Explorer, Space Shuttle, and Galactic Mediator, and I've spent a good deal of time musing about how to adapt the wings of 10283 or 10497 into a base for a modern Galactic Mediator. (No time messing about with it on Studio or IRL though.) The original version was about the same size as the modern Galaxy Explorer, but much simpler. A modem version would need only a modest bump in size to accommodate modern building techniques, but it could incorporate such improvements as a 6w-8w cockpit module with two to four seats, three point retractable landing gear, retractable or removable engines on the cockpit module (maybe inspired by the removable engines from the Dreamzzz Spacebus), a larger rover, improved prison cells with a better deployment function, better internal doors and more details and seating in the middle and aft lab sections, maybe a better-looking reduced version without the middle section ... So many fun improvements could be made to the Galactic Mediator, I think that's definitely the next remake I would want.

Your description sounds a bit like this moc of mine.

Yeah, that's the difficulty with making a poll for bases. No monorail + no big panels means the poll would be meaningless. Or I'd have to leave out all the best bases.

I recently built Galactic Mediator and to be honest, I'd love to recreate it as an Ice Planet ship. It feels way more science-y than police-y, and also, space police suck. It's got two drop pods/sample pods, a vehicle, you could easily make a lab space in front of the vehicle, it's got dual cockpits so someone can pilot it and someone can do all the scanner readings and such. Add some radar dishes and antenna and it's almost ready to go! I don't think the regular panels exist in trans-neon orange, but it'd work well if you used the orange rocket holder panels and slightly adjusted the build to be more airtight. On top of that, I think all of the other parts existed in Ice Planet colors in some manner. I may work on this in stud.io at some point, as I don't quite have all of the parts.

On that note, you could also use the Odyssey panels to make a Mega Core Ic-y-tizer. Or something like Nebula Outpost which is already half-white.

Anyways, I voted DFD. It's just such a sweet ship and I'd love to see it get upgraded in the way that Galaxy Explorer did.

Go for it, the canopies do exist in that color in the DFD. Even the jail cell covers are in that color too in 6898.

SP2 in general was lacking in weaponry across the line, I always added extra cannons on them.

I like those colors too. I like the idea of white & gray with trans purple windscreens, and teal & gray with trans red windscreens.

Those aren't bad color combos, but I think we have way too much gray with star wars

Very fair statement. I'm sick of all gray spaceships, for sure.

So I was originally surprised that Deep Freeze Defender was not in the lead, but now it has caught up and surpassed the Blacktron Renegade. It was inevitable.

Ice Planet has so many things going for it right now. It's basically the best of the 90s and there hasn't been a 90s throwback Space set yet. The color scheme is undoubtedly one of the best to ever exist, if not the most striking of all time. It's also unique in that it's the only Space theme with a specified environment type. An icy environment inspires all kinds of adventures that might not be possible on a rocky moon.

And of course orange. transparent. chainsaw. which is its own internet meme. But seriously that is a cool piece. And speaking of cool pieces, Ice Planet was the first and only theme with specialized visors. The little skis were super cool too.

I was thinking about how ripe Ice Planet was for a throwback at exactly the same time trans neon orange was discontinued. Trust me, I have had conspiratorial thoughts about that...but Lego can easily bring a color back. Actually I don't even care if it's easy. I assume the color is just on hiatus while they figure out how to make it cheaper, but if it was supposed to be permanent, that's a stupid mistake and I don't care how much it costs them to correct it.

Are trans-neon green and orange expensive or something? I honestly think they are just culling colors unfortanetly (to make way for the ugly new neon-pastels).
