We couldn't, for example, do one of the Bionicle vehicles which are primarily made up of Technic parts? That's a difficult one, but since I don't want to open up a can of worms, let's stick to the Technic theme. Quote
Aleh Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Is it permitted to create a smaller version of any B-model? Quote
MangaNOID Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Very interesting contest and sounds super fun. Thanks for organising 👍 I’ll try to find some time and join in. Mentally planning with a chosen set already at least… Quote

Seasider Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Only just seen this, I’ll have to get my thinking cap on. I might make it simple and plan a scaled down version of a set I have … just need to work out what I have 🤣 Quote

Seasider Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Does anyone know if there’s a good resource of stud.io files for official Technic sets. Would be useful for working on this competition Quote
Jurss Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Don't know about studio, but something is on technicopedia and we have also dedicated topic for files. Quote

2GodBDGlory Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 Also, @Jim, this question came up in my entry thread, and I thought it was worth asking here: Is it allowed to use "loose" shocks from Lego 6.5L shock absorbers? I'm using them in my current entry, though I could fairly easily switch them for rubber bands. I do think precedent would allow them, though, since I used a similar technique on my TC21 transforming Plymouth Superbird, as seen in these pictures: Spoiler Thanks! Quote
Jim Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 I'm afraid we need to disqualify your TC21 entry I'm okay with using that technique. Quote
JoKo Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 @Jim Great! A new contest! Since there is a limited number of big Technic sets, Is it allowed to choose the same original set than someone else? Quote
Jim Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 Just now, JoKo said: Since there is a limited number of big Technic sets, Is it allowed to choose the same original set than someone else? It is probably inevitable, so there are no limitations for choosing the same set. Quote

It had that fiber optic glowing thing at the back. Using a red lightbrick to replicate that would be nice but it sounds like the no electronic no led rule doesn't allow that. What do you think? Quote

No electronic components of any kind 2. Only integrated type is allowed (light/sound brick, motor box) 3. Only light sources allowed Because there is a set like this that probably no one will do, but it has only fiber optic, battery box and wires as electronic components. Jim Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 OMG here we go again I will make it easy for everyone and for myself (sorry @JoKo); NO electronics, NO lights, NO leds, NO lightbricks. @JoKo Let me know if you already ordered ten lightbricks for your build Quote

GerritvdG Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Love this contest and the WIP-threads thus far because smaller sets with a lot of manual functions is what Technic is all about for me! Legoglen on RB did some shrinking of existing sets: https://rebrickable.com/users/LegoGlen/mocs/ Not sure he's member of this forum. Going to think about my entry... Quote

GerritvdG Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Reminds me of this TC22 entry of @artemisovsky, could have been a perfect entry for this contest! Quote
