My last (propably) entry is a remake of another small, yet living in infamy, set: 6245, Harbour Sentry:

6245-1.jpg

There are so many things wrong here, which I decided to fix. First of all, the laws of Physics defying giant cannon on such a small boat. Second of all, why Lieutenant De Martinet, a high ranking officer of Imperial Army, and right hand man of Governor Broadside is rowing the boat by himself? Surely he would designate such menial task to a low ranking lackey. And he doesn't even have a place to store his personal weaponry, he had to clip his pistol on the cannon, and carry his cutlass on his lap. This is unacceptable! So, let us turn this dinky ol' dinghy, into a true, bona-fide gunboat!

ARRRR, Now, that's more like it! A sturdy, yet smooth and curvy rowboat, with a small, yet still functional howitzer as a main weapon. There's plenty of space for De Martinet, one of his Marines, an amunition barrel, and any accessories and weapons our brave Lieutenant would need when patroling the docks of El Dorado Fortress! Hope you like it me mateys!

The lunacy of the original set was half the fun. :pir-grin: That and the rare plain bicorne.

Nice remake. The hull shaping is good, although for the sake of simplicity in an official set I think you could use the standard boat and just replace the full cannon with the howitzer - if you had room for the 2 men, that is.

I like this! I'm not a fan of brick built boats, but this one works as a tribute to this classic set (which was my first Pirates set ever).

Was there a boat that inspired your design - the front in particular?

Funny you mention it, the boat is based on a Venetian Gondola I've built a while back in LDD. I just Phil Swifted it in half, and remade it into a more conventional rowboat: Obraz

But where's the fun in using the boat?

I should've worded my first post differently. I meant that TLG would probably use the boat piece for simplicity if they released a set like this. But maybe not - they have done several brick built hulls in recent years. And due to the simplicity of the original, I pretty much expected a brick built hull for this when I saw the title. :pir-wink:

A nice boat hull- I think that It works really well in red, I'd just try to make it have some storage compartment (maybe using a car door?) under the back half of the boat?

This build has a nice colour scheme, some good figure selections. But it could use a black cannon to make for better contrast with the main build

The build has a lot going for it, though, so best of luck!

Darn what a cool little build!

 Pros:

 love the smaller cannon

 love the hull design

love the front section with the lantern

Cons:

why get rid of the classic red?

I know the darker is more grimy and realistic but harbour sentry to me is always obnoxiously bright with a ridiculous cannon!

great entry still!

This build has a nice colour scheme, some good figure selections, but an unlikely brick-built cannon, maybe consider...a stud shooter(which could be a small, one-man cannon? Or just a regular Lego cannon, this is a little too unlikely for my taste.

The build has a lot going for it, though, so best of luck!

But the cannon is literally built around a stud shooter!
