I might be hallucinating but I see new parts (for me) in that chassis photo too. 4L liftarm? That elongated ball pin as the footrest? (sorry if it was mentioned already)

The 4L perpendicular was actually a CaDA part first, next to other lenghts. Never mind. In the near future I will have the complete array from 2/3/4/5/6/7/9/11/13/15L, how lucky I am.

I can´t see any elongated ball pin on the blurry image. If it was a new part, you probably would have seen it on the first pages of this thread.

Where is the liftarm you mentioned?

Front of the frame where the fork assembly will later attach. LBG piece just below the yellow 3L axles.

Edit: having just watched the video it looks like it's just a pair of the old half thickness 4L liftarms with + holes in the ends.

Looks more like two 4L half beams? The center axle for the steering would then be a 8 stud wide with end stop on top.

Was hard to tell from the photo posted above, but having watched the video it is a pair of half thick liftarms.

The new gearbox pieces sure are a welcome addition. Looking forward to MOCs and the next supercar.

Is it me or do the engine rotate in different directions between the different gears engaged?

It is curious because i normally wouldn't do that with this gearbox setup?

The new gearbox elements are a very pleasant surprise for sure. I look forward to seeing how well they will perform in motorized models. Unfortunately, however new parts like these may signal the phasing out and discontinuation of other transmission pieces we had before, like the 3L driving rings and orange wave selectors, and these new parts will start out pretty expensive since they've only been included with one set thus far, so building up-to-date transmissions with these new pieces will not be easy until we start seeing them in more sets.

I don't know about the orange rotary catch, but the 3L rings will never go away because of the half stud alignment issues caused by odd/even with 2L rings. In fact, as far as I know that is the reason why the old 2L ring was discontinued and the 3L ring came out.

The orange rotary catch works perfectly fine with both driving rings. The length is not so important, it´s just advantageous to work with odd numbers in Technic field. The lenghts of the catches are the same. One major difference is in the ridges design which exclude compatibility of one or another gear or extension. Not clever by the way.

I have studied the new gearbox parts visually and mathematically, but will not reveal my conclusions this time.

The alignment issues with 2L rings were because they used a lever, which is no longer the case with the new slider

There are still solutions where a lever is more useful (mostly, function switching), so I expect the 3L ring to stay in use.

Nice to see that the Yamaha continues the tradition of Technic motorcycles with many complex non-right angles.

Mmm yeah, especially for manual models

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but this is the first Japanese-brand licensed Technic set, hopefully that means we'll finally get some japanese cars in the future.
