This is an actual first for me.

 

TLG finally built a transmission that is based on reality. having built bags 2 and 3, I am reasonably sure that it shifts 1-N-2-3 (unlike the BMW which shifted 1-2-N-3). I do not have to re-engineer the gears to get the correct sequence. Also, even if I did, with the new parts, all on two axels (in this 3 speed), swapping the gearing around to get the sequence proper would be dead easy.

I know there was much discussion of first up, and first down on the BMW. Does anyone know which way this one is going to shift? If I want to change that I'd rather know now, because if I build more, the engine and transmission will be buried into the model (but not too buried, this bike doesn't have 250 pieces of cowling to hide the lump)

This one has a correct gearbox. 1-n-2-3 You can follow instructions

Exactly. I really hope they will follow this concept with the next supercar models, with all the new gears we have it should be an easy thing to slim down the currently used gearboxes (or even make a totally real H pattern box?). 

Is there a LEGO kit/plan that will build a rider for this bike?

Finally picked this set up over the weekend. First experience with the newer gearbox parts was great, can tell the whole thing runs smoother than the BMW. Actually like this even more in real life than the photos. I like the stripped back bodywork and the fact you can see more of the internals through the 'gills' (DBG panels) on the sides. I quite enjoy building these bikes, lot of interesting angles with the construction etc...
I changed all the red/yellow/blue parts out to black/grey and it looks super clean. Minimal stickers is always appreciated as well.

 

Nice job blue-ing up the BMW.

Would love to see the blue rims on the BMW and vice versa now!
