NoEXIST Posted July 8, 2023 Posted July 8, 2023 (edited) Probably this set is not that loved, but I like it as it is my first bigger technic set. I also noticed that I will create first topic of building a car for this competition:) Let's see guys how would you like a color change for this competition! As this car is bright green it's not really possible to make it green. Thats why my choice is red. Now about model I started, it already has full independent suspension, V8 and first signs of the steering system. Now I just want to ask @Jim if adding new functions is good for this competition (for example working steering wheel) It also might be 0.72 size of original set Edited August 1, 2023 by NoEXIST Quote

Adding new functions is not what this contest is about. That being said; a working steering wheel is okay. 9 hours ago, NoEXIST said: Probably this set is not that loved, but I like it as it is my first bigger technic set. Actually, I do love this set as well. Quote
NoEXIST Posted July 11, 2023 Author Posted July 11, 2023 I finally got something to show in appearance point of view! Also have a rendering with another older lmp Quote
Jurss Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 Good progress. That fake engine setup is interesting. How the bottom part of it is connected? Quote
Thirdwigg Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 I like the shaping of the Car Render. The cabin looks a little long for an LMP, but it looks consistent with 42039. Keep it up. Quote

All this time I think about the length of the cabin and car. It seems to me that I made mistakes while scaling down the model... I need to find 3D model of original set to make a proper comprasion... Thirdwigg Posted July 11, 2023 Posted July 11, 2023 I like how braced the engine is. Here is a file for 42039. I hope this helps. Quote

Jundis Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 The engine looks really cool and has very fitting proportions! I think the roof on your model is a little bit too high? Quote

NoEXIST Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 It's time to try figure out which parts I have to order:) Quote
NoEXIST Posted July 16, 2023 Author Posted July 16, 2023 But now about technical problems. Now I can take off the engine cover in "new lego style functions" by just removeing it. And I have to say I like how it looks without engine cover. But the competition is about making the a copy of the set, so I want to leave at least this function. the problem is how high is engine placed and how much space I have for lever that should move the cover. The only idea I got is moving that lever to the side (it's in the middle in set) and maybe even duplicate it for both sides Quote
Alex Ilea Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Maybe you can build it in lime, so it looks somewhat similar to the real car? Quote
Thirdwigg Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 I was thinking the same thing about green. I think all the parts are now available, though connector #5 would be tricky to get. Quote

I'm not really able to spend that much on parts for building it so I'm thinking about other options Quote
Alex Ilea Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 I see, I usually don't like spending lots of money just to finnish one project, it really is annoying. Maybe full black with bright green stickers could work? Quote

It looks great, and I hope you are able to get the opening rear panel function figured out. Quote
NoEXIST Posted July 19, 2023 Author Posted July 19, 2023 Lasr few days I was updating technical aspects of this creation... 1. Suspensions I had lift a suspension a little because in real life it was just laying on wheel arches Front suspension Rear suspension (Inspired by rear suspension from T Lego's LaFerrari 1:11) Now it has more travel, this makes suspension work better. 2. Frame/Chassis It reminds me of 42154 Ford GT frame... Im happy I was able to put engine cover open mechanism inside these 3x19 farmes. It is duplicateted to both sides, I had to go around the engine, so both worm gears may be synchronized. Quote
NoEXIST Posted July 19, 2023 Author Posted July 19, 2023 Another cool feature is modular build also it is the same for both chassis and body. But now I only have properly built chassis, so there it is Quote
SaperPL Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Really nice progress and awesome photos. Is the worm gear stuff on the sides about opening up the engine cover? Are you going to make instructions for this or at least share the studio file? Quote

1gor Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Very nice to see that you use 3 x 19 frames for such small chassis. Quote
