Very nice to see that you use 3 x 19 frames for such small chassis.

The fact that this frame fit there is a complete coincidence, didn't even think about using it😅 But it's a great bending strength booster

This frame is real blessing; if only there would be 15 x 7 frame (without reinforcements)

Still waiting for a few parts to build near finish looking model. But I tried to change sticker list a little :moar:

Some of them definitely need scale change to be applied to the car

Are you going with red panels because the green is hard to get? Also if I understand correctly, you can can cut the original stickers physically to match scaled down surfaces, but modifying the sticker sheet is against the rules. Or did I miss something and you could scale down the stickers?

I'm going with red because bright green is not even possible, and for lime I needed ~250€ to get everything, so I left that idea

Oh really? Didn't notice it's against the rules, then cutting... Also won't use the color change because it won't fit the red color of parts, so just cutting

Check last few pages of discussion, I asked some questions about stickers as well. Maybe ask Jim specifically about your idea on what you want to do.

Well, that's part of the challenge with those set remakes that you need to figure out which set will have reasonable part availability in a specific colour. I picked like the easiest possible setup of LBG/Black/Red/Yellow and still ended up with a surface at the back of the cab that got tricky to handle and I still was looking for parts from multiple sources. If recolors were to be acceptable, I feel like this is something that should have been determined at the start of the contest where we were picking out sets based on part availability... But you can ask Jim in the discussion topic about this.

Already looking at this, the only question missing if I can print original sticker sheet myself.

Well, I was talking about color change in the beginning of the topic and have seen no problem with changing it in the rules. But you are definitely true at this point. Also I have some time to maybe even change my entry with another set because I got the idea a little lately... There's no 8258 shirking so far as I can see😅

Does the shrunk model have to be in the same color scheme as the original model? Some colors only appear in big panels and not small panels.

It doesn't need to match 100%, but one of the voting criteria is "staying true to the original". You can replace whatever you want, but it might affect your score.

And yeah, I know that rules weren't perfectly laid out from the start...

Let's see what happens then, I wonder how it'll get treated. For me choosing a set that you can have matching colours is also a challenge especially since you might have perfect shape setup that doesn't exist in the same colour as original.

Also competition is going to be tight, I think, so every detail will matter.

I agree with that, there is a lot of really cool models participating. And I'm still not sure if I do that only for fun or not:)

The rules were pretty simple. Just scale down a model. It's only logical that the more you deviate from the original, the less points you will score. That's no rocket science. And yes, using some alternative parts will obviously be necessary, but it's up to the builder to determine how much deviation is acceptable.

Don't worry about it. Your model looks awesome, and to be honest; it doesn't even need stickers if you ask me.

Let's say I'm done with the model. Stickers in original size seems too big to cut them. Even if I only leave logos, so...

It has engine cover open mechanism, but it's also easy to remove completely

This looks really good. Why don't you show a proper photo of whole thing assembled first ? :D

Let's make it a surprise for entry photoshoot :)

And the video, but still waiting for better quality to be uploaded...

It looks really good apart from those few light grey details. Also isn't steering knob ratio to steering a bit too low/too much cranking to turn the wheels?

It's a really interesting model both in terms of how it's built underneath and how it looks when put together. Those flexible axles based techniques look to me a bit messy at places, but it all comes together well overall.

It's not that easy to turn the wheels as in original set for example, but its okay knowing which wheels were used. These are really soft and wide:)

That's true, I'll use just a soft axle in nose of the car for instruction. I'm also not the biggest fan of that technique but I have no idea how to replace these panels in smaller scale...

How much parts has your models guys? Mine is only 46 parts less than original set!

I'm at 706 parts while according to brickset 8109 has 1115, so it's 63% of parts vs the original, and if I remember correctly my model is at 73% of scale of original model.

In your case it makes sense because you are recreating panels all around the body with smaller pieces and I guess you also have more parts in the engine and suspension than the original model.

Actually It has over 100 parts only for engine
