On the one hand Dr. Brick is right: You could get really a lot of money for this set.

On the other hand - if you plan to have children in the future - I wouldn't sell it. It's a very special and amazing set and your children surely would have a lot of fun to build it and then to play with it. Plus - if you change your mind - you can sell it at any point in the future, too. Often that's even better since prices of very exclusive sets rise the older they get (and when then the set is yet in the original box and not opened - you can really make more money with it than today).

Klaus-Dieter

Dear Klaus-Dieter,

are you suggesting we should use Lego as an investment vihicle, just as expensive bottles of Whisky?

If Lego decides to release the set anyway, due to high ebay prices, he might regret not selling now when prices are high.

Although personnally I feel 300 dollars is just ridiculous for this set. But thats just my opinion.

Kind regards,

Teddy

Thank you very much for translating, Eilif! :sweet:

I imagined something like that but I really wasn't sure.

Welcome to EB, eeyore! :sweet:

Yeah Klaus-Dieter is right, keep it for your kids. Let's not forget that LEGO is, in the first place, a toy made for kids. If they have a lot of fun playing with it it somehow it feels better than a hope of adults arguing about how many hundreds of dollars they want to spend on it, and then just put it on a shelf.

Since legomilk mentioned in the 2009 Picture and Rumor thread in the SW forum that there'll be some pics of a new exclusive SW set soon (when LegoWorld is taking place) I think that if TLG hopefully decided to release this amazing Wind turbine either yet this year or even in the beginning of next year for the public it'll be shown there, too (like last year with the awesome 10188 Town Plan of which we got pictures in the middle of October, too). So let's see. :sceptic:

OFICIAL:

The bad news: The 4999 set shall not be available for the general public, only to vestas employees.

The good news: It shall exist a new set without the bottom house (and without the light function), but will still have the turbine with the power function and a truck to transport it!

Happy Building!!!

Thank you very much for that information, Lord Santos!

Like Dr. Brick I have the same question: Have you got some proof for that? It's not that I want to allege that you have lied - but there were several "bad guys" in the past which propagated wrong inforamtion. So I hope you won't. :sweet:

What? no lighted house?

OH NOOOOOOOOOoo oh hoooooo....

Dang. i really liked that thing. and i can't just build my own house, i don't have the parts. (even if i do have a giant blue tub and a big white cabinet filled with parts, i don't feel like rooting through them.)

Excuse me, Lord Santos, I forgot to ask something:

Does "a truck to transport it" mean a big vehicle which can transport the whole power plant or only the turbine?

If it contains a vehicle to transport the whole power plant then I think that there must be a mobile crane included in this set, too, for playing a buildup of the power plant, don't you think?

Well, we get what we have been asking for, and leave it to the nitpicky EB users to find something to complain about....

I wouldn't be too sure about that since 1. this information might be wrong (I don't mean that Lord Santos tells us something wrong but there might have been some "bad guy" who told Lord Santos something wrong) :sceptic: and 2. if TLG decided to release a set like the one Lord Santos described, then they made this decision firstly after all the complaints of the (mainly) AFOL community about the not public release of the amazing 4999. And that means that they supposably made this decision in summer/early fall this year - which means that (when you take minimum 1,5 years for the development of a set like Lego mentioned some time ago) this set supposably won't be released before January 2010  .

According to my source (official, for real), that seems to be the case.

Thank you very much for that proof, Matija! :sweet:

So TLG either noticed when designing the amazing 4999 Vestas Wind Power Plant that this set surely would interest a lot of Lego fans, too, and decided to design and release then an alternative set - or TLG was super fast after having received all the complaints about us and the whole (mainly) AFOL community.

However a big compliment to TLG by anticipant!

It's really bad to hear that it won't include this lovely cottage and the nice service van of 4999. :cry_sad:

But, hey, the main thing is that we'll be aible to get the power plant itself! :cry_happy: And for giving us some very nice vehicles and cottages/apartment houses there is hope for 2010 or even later!

Directly from Lego's Sale department  , I even know one of next year's town exclusives...

So can you please forgive me my doubts, Lord Santos? :sweet:

Btw: Does "one of next year's town exclusives" mean that there will be more exclusive City sets than this one? - Oh wait, I think we already know the second exclusive City set (it'll officially be not called City set since - after my knowledge - all trains should be released as a whole seperate theme) will be the mainly on AFOLs orioentated train set, won't it?!

What proof? :) I think you should reread what I said, especially the part I quoted.

Just to make it clear (again), my source has never heard of that and thinks the information is not true.

Of course, it wouldn't be the first time that departments within LEGO fail to communicate, so everything is possible.

I open this topic to share the information about this ( 2009? ) set .

TLG heard our call and has apparently decided to create an alternative both the coveted 4999. :classic:

I would kindly ask you all to STOP misquoting me (like you and Klaus-Dieter did) and to learn yourself reading everything that is said, not only the things you like. What I said (twice!) means the exact opposite of what you present in your post(s).

Oh, excuse me, Matija!

Sometimes it seems that I really understand something wrong. That might be because of my very bad English.

So to repete it for all that there are no missunderstandings anymore:

TLG comfirmed that the 4999 Vestas Wind Power Plant will not be released to the general pubic. That we might get any set similar to that in the nearer future is very unrealistic to believe since otherwise TLG surely would have released the 4999 set for the general public. :cry_sad::cry_sad: :cry_sad:
