Lord Santos Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 (edited) Does any member wants to make a petition to Lego make 4999??? I think that it is ridiculous to Lego produce a set only for a company and not selling has an exclusive, even if it cost over 200€ I would buy it!!! I will go to Legoland Billund along with my familly in October to participate in activities and possibly being able to talk with Kjeld itself... If this set doesn't get sold to the public I shall try to convience him to produce the 4999 (the ods are against me, but what the heck!!! Edited July 15, 2008 by Lord Santos Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 (edited) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :cry_sad: Only a promo! Lego can't do this with us! I was sooooo happy when I saw this set - and now it shall not be available! but if we're with them all sends an e-mail that we've intresse then will buy them far. the more people intresse in the set have the more the chance is high that this set will be bought far. And I say this not just think I know how lego. Do you mean that we should sent emails to Vestas or to Lego? I think that the best think would be to open a new topic where everybody should sign in who wants and would buy this set and then beg Copmike to send it to Lego. I'll open it in a few minutes. So please wait. EDIT: Here is the link to it. Klaus-Dieter Edited July 15, 2008 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
iamded Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Are we sure we're not allowed to put pics of it in the first post? Because it's on Brickset... ~Peace Quote
dunamis Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Wow, nice set! I like the design and hope LEGO produces a retail version. Quote
Section8 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 (edited) Are we forgetting previous recent company-only sets, such as the Maersk Sealand? It was originally company-only, but I now have one on my bookcase. Lego will release this on S@H in time, I'm confident of that. The size and likely price won't warrant a full retail release, and like Maersk, few kids would know about the company. Now that the cat's out of the bag, Lego will have no choice but to release to stop the flood of inquiring emails we are sending ;-) Edited July 15, 2008 by Section8 Quote

To have a product get this reaction...they'd be fools not to release it to the public. They would need a license, I think, but if they're already producing them then..... Quote
Karto Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) The Maersk Sealand was an exception. Most promotional items never make it to shops or to online stores including S@H. All the Airline promotionals, all the former Maersk promos (at least 4 trucks and 2 boats), the Velux House (which was sold on the Velux website though), the several Milk trucks and if you go a little back in time, it was even worse with the Dutch ANWB sets and the English Weetabix sets. Most of these were really nice and huge sets and could have been topsellers but none of them have been distributed. The 'hard to find' sets that are usually available on S@H are 'exclusives', exclusive to official Lego stores and / or exclusives to some toy stores such as TRU but not promotionals. I really doubt that if Vestas' answer is that this set is only meant to be distributed amongst the customers, we'll ever see it on S@H. Let's hope that Mr Torsten Erik Rasmussen, chairman of Vestas and one of TLC former's CEO's has a big AFOL heart and will reconsider the company's position... Comon' Torsten stop hiding, I know you're around. Show yourself, I promess I won't laugh at your MOCs Edited July 16, 2008 by Karto Quote

trooperdavinfelth Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 OK, half a second: This uberly awesome, gigantic, highly detailed, %100 new and awesome, dog including(one of the reasons for me to get it since I lack a dog ), and energy efficient(I'd like to think we have enough sources of energy in this country(U.S.) that we don't need these. ) set is only available to who? I don't understand why the petition is there, why people are sad, etc. How does one get this set? Will it be mass produced? Am I sounding like an idiot? Did I miss something big? Why am I asking YOU all these questions? Quote
Siegfried Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I put the photos back. To save people going back to the start just to see them... Most were found here... Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I personally contacted Vestas to see if there was any way other consumers could purchase this. The lady stated that since it is a promotional item, it is only available to Vestas customers. SO... Any Vestas customers that have access to this, please pm me. Thanks! Quote
Derek Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I'm sorry, but TLC and Vestas are making a huge mistake by not having this on wide release. I mean, obviously there is a large group of people willing to fork out some cash for it. This could very well end up on the bestseller list on s@h if Lego would just put it on there. They dont even need to attach Vestas! They can keep the set with the stickers and box that say Vestas, and have a generic version for the general public. dp Quote

TLG and Vestas are making the worst mistake ever when not selling this excellent set to Lego customers, too! Like you already mentioned there is a huge audience of mainly AFOLs - but surely JFOLs, too - which really like this set and surely would really much like to buy it. If they don't sell it to the "normal" audience, too, then firstly they would miss out big proceeds and secondly their images would degrade because they don't take care about the wishes of their customers. And is that really what they want?! - I don't hope so! Klaus-Dieter Edited July 17, 2008 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

Why am I asking YOU all these questions? It's a promotional item made by LEGO under contract for a Danish energy company called Vestas. Noone knows how much it'll cost, but they'll probably just give it away to a selection of customers. It's probably only a small run so nowhere near as many copies as a normal distribution. Quote
legotrainfan Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) WOOWW!! I'm heavily impressed by what TLC has produced! Wonderful wind power plant! Lots of amazing detail! I would even be satisfied with the power plant alone without the house and car. Just imagine twenty of those power plants standing in your LEGO city! They'd look absolutely fabulous though they'd be using up a lot of space! It's too bad this set cannot be purchased by the average customer. Edited July 18, 2008 by legotrainfan Quote
Holodoc Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Over at 1000steine.de member Technix phoned S@H and they told him: this set is going to available in September 2008 on a regular basis. The only difference it will bring to set 4999 are the missing "VESTA" labels. Is this good news, or is this good news? Finally ON! Quote

The link you posted goes indeed not to the information you gave us - but nevertheless I believe you. (As a precaution I will telephone S@H tomorrow, too, because this member could have told you something wrong, too, Holodoc - althought I really don't hope that!) That would be absolutely awesome!!! Then our petition helped however! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) I browsed again through the web and found a statement of Jan Christensen himself here where he says that it will not be available for regular sale! And since this statement is from today I think either your informant wants to make a really, really bad joke or the customer's services made again a "mistake", too. I personally think that we know have the right to know what is wrong and what is right - and if we are aible to sell it or not! Klaus-Dieter Edited July 17, 2008 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

whung Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Instructions of 4999 are available in Lego.com 4999-1 http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildin...ons/4538700.pdf 4999-2 http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildin...ons/4538702.pdf It's a very amazing set that the motor not only turn the blades, but also turns on the light in the front door!
