Reading the thread about the possible new pirates minifigures, i saw a few ppl mention a cameo of a pirate in an indy comic. I don't remember that in any lego magazines i received, and can't seem to find any of the more recent magazines. could someone possibly post a picture of it so i can see? thanks a lot

This sounds interesting. When you say Indy comic do you mean a LEGO Indy comic or a normal Indy comic? I can remember that one of the normal Indy comics dealt with pirates.

This at least means that TLG (or at least the ppl the make the Lego Club magazine) acknowledge that lego pirates exist.

i saw this in the earlier posts i did not think much of it due to his attire, and it seems like they went out of thier way to make it look like a generic pirate rather than one they have made before...

wow cool!! pirates keep appearing everywhere in other themes so Lego must have plans for them otherwise they would not keep putting them in front of us. its not like we see western or paradisa stuff like we see pirates these days.

Anyway, I don't think this means anything. Sure, there's a pirate looking guy, but there's also a knight that isn't really what we've seen before, they're just there. I thought it was a bit strange that there are random themed yellow figures in this frame of the comic

Yes. There have been quite a few instances of pirates (especially Redbeard/Roger) cropping up in the Lego magazine. One example was back in 2003-ish when he appeared in a comic where a football (soccer to you ) team was teleported by Ogel (Alpha Team 2) into an underwater stadium...

So really this isn't anything special, only that it's not a "minifigure" that has been seen before (previous comics have been photograph based)...

I could say: Hey, look! They use Pirate hats on the Lego Message Boards! Pirates must be returning!

-It's nothing unusual, just at a time of heightened hype, it gets blown out of proportion...

I could also say: The Troll Leader in the latest Castle comic keeps saying "Yo ho!" and the Crownies call the Trolls "Pirates" (they are attacking in a boat), which proves that Pirate are returning!

-Again, it's a coincidence. It may even disprove the return of Pirates, as TLC may compensate with lots of Castle Warships e.t.c...

Although random characters have appeared in other comics before, these just seem too out of place. i know im probably wrong but since we havent seen the knight or pirate before, maybe there will be a new knight or other addition to the castle line along with the reintroduction of pirates. as for the aquaraider dude, maybe it means there will be new sets since many ppl have wished that that theme would continue. so maybe theres a reason for those three guys in the comic...or maybe im just reaching

I think since Aquaraiders is officially 'dead in the water', this is unlikely.

As for the images.... I live in a country where there is no Lego retail store or Legoland, and where we get almost no Lego promotional material whatsoever, but I recently bricklinked some sets from the US, which had been packed inside a Legoland California bag which had a lot of classic figs printed on it, including Johnny Thunder, an old-style knight, forestman and a classic pirate. Maybe this bag dates back to the mid-90s - I wouldn't know - but even if it did, the official stores don't seem to feel the need to update their bags even though you can't buy anything featured on it! (Except maybe the Impulse wizard). I really like the bag, but to me it just seemed to be Lego using their back catalogue of 'classic' images for promotional purposes. Same with the comic - the appearance of these figs seems like a neat in-joke rather than a hint of things to come.

Anyway, maybe the bag is really old but it seems new and unusued, and the sets I bought were just-released MISB so I assume they came in the same bag when the bricklink seller bought them. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will let me know!

I have that bag and it is indeed old. maybe not ancient, but a few years at least. My gf got me lego from the legoland cali. and it came in that bag, but that was in 2006. Anything i buy from the lego stores nowadays comes in a plane yellow bag that has the lego logo

Anyways, I'm surprised noone else has found this, but it is in there (my scanner is busted, so I will try to get pics from a friend unless...anyone else cares to scan it?)

There seem to be more Pirate cameo appearances as of late compared to the usual.

It's almost like Pirates are more thought of by Lego employees for some reason lately.

well the thing isn't so much that we'll get a return of pirates or not, the thing is, if they do return, how will these sets look like? if i look at MM sets, i really do wonder if i should be soooo incredibly happy with the return of space...

btw, we've been seeing signs for a few years now, sure, at some point we may be right... nothing says we'll be getting them any time soon though
