mutley777 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Hi guys. I posted a review of the new sets . I picked them up today in a woolworths store! Droid Gunship V-19 Torrent Edit by Hinckley: hey Mutley, I hope it's okay I reposted the pics from the frontpage here, just so their be some continuity and members would know they'd arrived at the right place... The Nightwing Reborn Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 why am i only lucky with bionicles? these reviews have changed my mind on the two sets. Although the Clone Fighter Tank is still my 1st priority this gunship would be perfect for a lego battlefront stop-motion/comic. As for the turrent the biggest upside is the clone pilot. The ship is interesting and it is good to see it in the clone wars again. Overall i will get everything except the RGS and AT-TE unless i get a bit more money, in that case, AT-TE you will be mine Quote
PSPguy Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Does this help?http://www.brickhorizon.com/boardz/viewtop...?f=18&t=239 Yes thank you. I love the look of that clone trooper. It is probably just because of the pilot torso but w/e. Quote
Derek Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Can you post direct links please? Just look yourself. Its in the Star Wars forum... Quote
Oky Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 You lucky son of a megablock! It's strange that you found the DGS - I thought it would be released sometime after August. Anyway, thanks for the cool reviews. It would have been good, though, if you could have taken some pics of the Torrent from more different angles. You don't have even one pic of it from the back for example. However, I'd say this is frontpage material! Quote
Hinckley Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 However, I'd say this is frontpage material! You whine a lot. I would like to frontpage this, but since the pics are not on our site, I've PMed Mutley to ask his permission. Until then Oky, you know where it is, what does it matter to you if it's on the front page or not? Quote
Ras 74 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Aha. So you´ve done it again Mutley! Now we can definatley call something, "To pull a Mutley" I still remember when you found those ARC´s. Me and CM was so pleased with your help on those. I will definatley get those two sets. But I don´t feel that they will be in a prio. Since I am a collector I need them, but will not get more then one copy -Ras- Quote
marky Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 i have a question which towns woolworths did you get them in cos they arent on the shops website? Quote
Oky Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 You whine a lot. Who's whining? Besides, that's Sir Whinealot to you! Just kidding, just kidding! I would like to frontpage this, but since the pics are not on our site, I've PMed Mutley to ask his permission. Until then Oky, you know where it is, what does it matter to you if it's on the front page or not? I care about all the visitors of this site who might be interested in the reviewed sets, but don't go through all the forums all the time and are missing out on these reviews. Quote

Well, thanks for you concern, but here's some free advice: a staff of people who volunteer their time don't want to be told constantly how to do their jobs. Just a bit of advice...for everyone...not necessarily you...all the time. I don't want to upset you. I know you've thought I was picking on you before and this time I am...so...I guess that's the end of the sentence. Quote
Shadows Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Great reviews, thanks for bringing these to us. As Ras said, these are necessary for completists, but not the kinds of sets that I'll try to stock up on, unless I find a lucky sale. Still, they're two more to pile on the yearly LEGO bankruptcy list budget. I don't want to upset you. I know you've thought I was picking on you before and this time I am...so...I guess that's the end of the sentence. And people ask why we call him Mr. Subtle... Quote

Still, they're two more to pile on the yearly LEGO bankruptcy list budget. I disagree. Ras is not that smart. I will get several of the droid gunships because it is an excellent parts pack. Imagine all of the block block creations you can make with those pieces! Quote

Imagine all of the block block creations you can make with those pieces! LOL, yeah! I could imagine using the big, round parts to make a lid for a giant flying trash can for Lord Trash to fly around in! Quote
The Rancor Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 What the MEGABLOK!!! I can't believe these sets are out early The Indiana Jones Crystal Skull sets were just deja vu compared to this (they were in Woolworths before release) I find it hard to believe these sets are £10 more than my estimations (the CW license must COST ) MUST... GO... TO LOCAL WOOLWORTHS!!! Quote
commanderbly42 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Wow, these sets are so awesome! Quoted for emphasis! Both sets look like they have great selections of parts. Thanks for the review! Quote
jifel Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Awesome! I'm trying to save up for the RGS. ditto. the droid gunship looks nice, but i wnot get it because im saving for bionicles big prices and warhammer 40k, plus that awesomes rgs, and hopefully a new clone bp soon. jifel Quote

Erdbeereis Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Great review Mutley! Originally I didn't think these two looked so great, but after seeing the review I may have to reconsider . The torrent looks much better than I thought, the pilot fig looks great and the wing mechanism seems to work nicely. As for the gunship, I'm not sure I'm totally convinced yet, but I still think it looks pretty good. I may try to get it on sale or something. Thanks again! Quote
chris_austin Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 You're very lucky Mutley! I've tried my Woolworths (Yeovil) and they didn't have any out. They told me that if they had any then the sets would be out. Had some Clone Wars action figures on the shelf though. They had the new agents sets out today in a special display. First time i've seen them. Weird prices. Mission 1: Jet Pack Pursuit is £11.99 Mission 2: Swamp Raid is £11.23 Mission 2 looked like it had way more pieces so one of the prices is wrong! I don't want to hijack this thread but i'm very short of time so can someone say if either of those prices are correct. I'm going to be in Woolworths everyday checking for LEGO Clone Wars!! Quote
Dovchenko Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Thanks for the review! Two very nice sets, I like the fig and the ship's smooth sailing mechanism is very very nice. I'm not decided on what I should get though... Gunship's nice but I'm tired of overpricing. You guys in Europe get it bad but when America and Canada say EQUAL EXCHANGE RATES, there always seems to be an unsightly 100$ difference... Quote
