Brickbeyz Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 When creating my MOC, I have found that I need to build exactly 5 LEGO units (2.5 plate heights) above a plate, both planes being studs up. However, I can’t seem to find a method to get this height difference. Does anyone know of any way to achieve this, especially in a small space? I would also accept any techniques with modified LEGO, so long as the modification is convenient (simple cutting/gluing). Quote

You could create a rigid pseudo-brick 2.5 plates high by putting glue on the studs of a plate then putting another plate on top and only pushing it down half a unit. If it doesn't need to be as rigid then do the same but with no glue. Quote
Brickbeyz Posted July 31, 2023 Author Posted July 31, 2023 That's definitely an option, although I would prefer if gaps weren't as obvious when looking from the side. But beggars can't be choosers, so I'll do that if I can't find any other methods. Quote

Can you give an example- photo / illustration of where you need the 2.5 plates so we can see what there is to work with? There are some potential options depending on the available space under and adjacent to the spot in question. For instance, if there's room to work with to secure them, a brick is 2.5 plates wide and some brackets are 2.5 plates in one dimension, so if you can place either of those elements with the side stud facing up you end up with a flush, no-gaps stud facing in the same plane at 2.5 plates high. Brickbeyz Posted August 1, 2023 Author Posted August 1, 2023 I’m looking to work in a 1x4 plate space with 4 LEGO units of depth shift max in either direction. Headlights produces one 2.5 plate connection, but also a 3 plate connection right beside. A brick with technic pin holes would also work if one side were studs instead of holes. Hope this helps. VeniVediLego Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 I think Technic 1×2 lift arms might be prefect for this, assuming you can incorporate the rounded ends aesthetically or can cover them up: 2p5-vertical-offset by Mike O, on Flickr Quote
