I haven't played it, but from what I saw online, Bionicle: The Game was pretty bad. The graphics look horible, and I read that it was extremely short, simplistic, and had a terrible camera. Oh, and it totally butchered the Bionicle storyline, DESPITE claiming to be official. :imperialguard_commander1:

Maze of Shadows was too repetitive for my opinion. I finished last third of the game with Vakama using invisibility to avoid battles. At first, they were interesting, but later it was too boring to use the same attacks against the same enemies.

But Karzahni looked very well there))

I agree that the battles did get a bit repetitive, but I still did as many as I could. The reason is that IMO, the battle animations are simply AMAZING. Smooth animations, lots of effects like vibrating and particles, tons of detail - man, they were just awesome to look at! Also, the battle system was good in that you could actually gain more powers for your Toa as you went on. Each Toa started out with just one special attack, but at the end of they game they all had four. I also liked that there was a heavy use of status effecting powers, like poison, sleep, scared, dazed, confused, etc - and both the rahi and the Toa could use them. :pir-wink:

I think the thing I was most disapointed about was the lack of a decent final boss. Fighting three rock entities that were all exactly the same wasn't exactly epic. However, this actually was very true to the book, so at least they had a reason for it. :pir-classic:

Maze of Shadows was awesome, Tales of The Tohunga(Quest for The Toa, Whatever. I like pissing off the maoris.XD) was awesome, BIONICLE: The Game sucked(But I liked the graphics.), And BIONICLE Heroes was awesome in everything aside from the story.

I never played that 2002 Bohrok one though. . .I forgot what it's called. . .

I think Tales of the Tohunga is the only fully canon game we've had...

Quest for the Toa was the only fully canon game, aside from it's in-game naming issues. :pir-wink:

sadly when my friend borrowed the game, he lost it so he gave me Tales of the Tohunga which I found fun and addictable :pir_laugh2:

Uhh.

"Quest for The Toa" and Tales of the Tohunga are the same game.

When the Maoris got all bitchy about LEGO stealing their (Nearly dead.) language, LEGO changed the name to remove the maori word.(Tohunga.)

. . .Even though "Toa" is still a maori word, they evidently got a copyright on it. Thank god.

Couple of things - the Maori language is far from dead, and many of the words that LEGO tried to copyright were standard Maori words for things like fire, people and stomach. If some toy company started copyrighting your everyday language and making money from your culture without your consent, wouldn't you get a bit angry?

LEGO hadn't tried to copyright them. LEGO has hardly any names copyrighted besides "BIONICLE."

The reason the Maori were angry was because, if I'm not mistaken, their language is a big part of their religion.

No, just their culture mainly. I think one of the main issues would be that kids in Europe and America would become accustomed to the Maori words through BIONICLE, and would associate the rich culture, language and religion of Maori to a toyline. Also, LEGO would've been making money on the Maori language, which is kinda taking advantage of them.

No, it's the one where Takua goes around Mata Nui and gets the Toa Stones to make the Toa Mata arrive on Mata Nui. It's set just before the MNOLG.

I never really got deeply into any of the Bionicle games, but I remember a BZ member called patblastertoa had created a (hideous-looking) site which had all the MNOLG cutscenes ripped there.

Sadly, it was a time before I was smart enough to know how to save those flash files lol.

When I remembered the site and went back a year or two later, it was gone.

And that's sad. Those cutscenes WERE my favorite media of Bionicle ever. Still are, really.

great find! i don't think that was unintentional--it might have been a real deep hidden hint for it.

They've been using jumbo parts as buildings and architecture for practically forever. I don't think it was foreshadowing. It's just that they don't want to spend time/money making new ideas, I think. Not that I mind. It brings everything together.

I agree. I love the MNOLG Flash style... it embodies Bionicle for me. =)

Well, I was reading some old books, and story serials, and I have a small theory. If someone has already said this, I did not see it.

Anyhoo, remember the blade burrowers? perhaps they are mapping out Bara Magna.

Also, an Olmak could take you to Bara Magna.

And, you could strike down Teridax like he did Mata Nui, but only the dead Makuta know how, right?

No, because Brutaka was exposed to all their secrets, so their is hope, as long as Teridax is overconfident.

my thoughts.

Personally, I don't see what difference it makes. The Kini-Nui always looked cool, and as the video showed us, there is no Kini-Nui anymore, but obviously there will be again once Mata Nui lands on some other place. I don't feel much disappointment at it being a sensor array, obviously the folks at BIONICLE decided they needed an explanation, so they gave one. I honestly don't see what other options there were. It isn't his nose, since the island isn't his face and the Kini-Nui was destroyed, and it doesn't make sense that Mata Nui's island builds temples and then destroys them, so we can just say it was retractable and he'll build a new one eventually.

I'm more interested in the fact that the Matoran were shaped after people on Bara Magna, which I thought was neat and will hopefully manage to keep the Bara Magna inhabitants biomechanical. I wouldn't like it much if these characters in "BIONICLE" weren't biomechanical.

I would disagree... I'm the only one who think that BTG is actually nice game. It wasn't repetitive. It had sot awesome, but nice-looking graphics (while the animation was horrible - I was shocked when Kopaka SUDDENLY changed from standing on shield to, um, just standing). I like this game, beated it many times and I'm offering it to anybody for free. Just because almost everybody want to see if it is really that bad.

If you change the controls, you surely can beat it. Not with ease, but that's the point of arcade games - NOT to let players complete it wothout saves, like with BH.

I guess it just reminded me about all these Pokemon games too much. Also, I'm a RPG hater. Really, I don't like any RPG titles. Except Mass Effect, maybe.

I don't look at graphics (if that was true, I'd been playing Crysis instead of Fahrenheit now, or something like that), I look at gameplay. And MoS gameplay disappointed me - the game never offered me new challenges, just new types of discs with the same "press the button" puzzles and battles almost without tactics. Of all Bionicle GBA games, I'll prefer the old Tales of the Tohunga.

Of all GBA games I have, I'd choose Max Payne Advance. It's the best game I played on this platform.

How about a Bionicle RTS (real-time strategy) wargame.

Think about it, you could have all of the tribes act like factions. You can recruit Agori and Glatorians to fight against another tribe. You could even purchase upgrades for them. Then you can command them to fight each other.

I thought about modding my copy of Supreme Commander or Battle for Middle Earth 2 for bionicle, but I dont have the technical know-how to do it.

That would be interesting, and would probably work a lot better than in the normal Bionicle universe - but Lego seems to have shied away from RTS style games since Rockraiders (and I can see why - I don't think it was that popular with the target audience at all, although it seems to be a cult classic among older lego fans). It might be interesting to see a game like that online though - they've already mada a game for Mars Mission that has a surprising amount of similarities to the Command and Conquer games. :pir-classic:
