S-N Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I gotta be honest, I thought the Toa Phantoka had plenty resemblance to their old forms -- where they failed were in their overly rehashed designs. <3 Pohatu for his orange and for his mask. =DBut next year the set designers not only know that they are mortalizing Mata Nui himself... they are doing it in a year where so far all the sets are fantastic. That's a great promise, and I can't wait to see what they can do with the summer batch. -Ikk I can't wait to see what they make for the large summer sets. =D
Pencoin Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 A Dragon! A Plant! A Scorpion! A Giant! A Hydra! That would be heavenly...
ShaddowCroc Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Well, you guys are being too optimistic about this. Where's the standard negativity when something new happens? Malum sucks, he looks like a bunch of pieces thrown on an Inika body. The Agori are boring because they're just Av-Matoran palette swapped with new weapons. The story is stupid because it's too violent and too dark. The story is stupid because it's not violent enough. Winter sets are racist because there are no females. The story is stupid because it's not 2001. The sets are stupid because it's not 2001. The sets are stupid because they don't have any gears. The sets are stupid because they're not clones. BIONICLE should not go into space. It should stay on the island of Mata Nui, where the Toa fight Against The Makuta (He's not Teridax, he's Makuta.) If they reveal Mata Nui's real name, I will commit suicide. The story sucks because there aren't enough books. The books suck because they're written by Greg Farshtey. The movie sucks it's not going to have enough violence. The movie sucks because it's not going to be violent enough, and there are going to be kholi matches instead of fights. The comics suck because the style isn't D'Anda. The comics suck because the style isn't Elliot. The comics suck because the style isn't Sayger. The comics scsk because the style isn't Gallagher. *Deep Breath* Etcetera.
Pencoin Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 "Because man! In one of this...memorys is the evidence, if I get it I can reconstruct it! Wait that wasn't the right answer... Got it! I like Av-Matoran!
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) You know, no single person has ever complained about all these things. Every member has a few things he or she dislikes, and when those things are presented in Bionicle, their complains will be voiced. It is the ignorant fans who put all these people and their valid issues in the same group. There will ALWAYS be someone who is not favor of a certain trend or change in anything, and instead of swallowing the crap they either rant or contructively critisize it -- most people doing the latter. If you don't want negativity, however, I suggest browsing BZP. There are thousands of fanboys there claiming the Mistika are the greatest pieces of art in human history, so that oughta do it for ya. ;-) On another note -- could it be that there are so few complains in regards to 2009 because it is actually a GOOD year? :D -Ikk Edited November 30, 2008 by Ikki o' Moopyville
Pencoin Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 It will be good when a see the Combine... I mean Combiners...
S-N Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 A Dragon! A Plant! A Scorpion! A Giant! A Hydra! That would be heavenly... A agree with you on this except fro the Plant. I want a chariot. :P
Refia Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 On another note -- could it be that there are so few complains in regards to 2009 because it is actually a GOOD year? :D Possibly. Personally, 2009 so far is great for me because we finally have sets with secondary colours again and no super amount of silver or oversized blasters, and not gunmetal grey or silver. No. Gresh for example, he's dark green and light green. Instead of like Lewa, grey and green. Strakk is blue and white, Skrall red and black. Tarix blue and gold. And so on. But also, the weapons are coloured again, and that's great. I really missed that. And like I said, the blasters aren't oversized. Cordak, Midak and Nynrah... Bleh.

Personally, 2009 is so good because it's new in a 2001 kind of new. The story is new, the sets are new, and even the movie style is new! (Different producers and fancy motion capture acting)
Pencoin Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Lets hope '10 and '11 keep up this awsome up until this trilogy ends!
ShaddowCroc Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Hmm, '10 ans '11, eh? That makes me think of tiny childrens now who are going to fall in love with BIONICLE in '09, then like it until '12 when they'll probably bastardize everything about the Glatorian, and then the children will whine like old fans do now. We'll have passed on the torch to a new set of whiners. Yay.
Pencoin Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Well I want Bara-Magna this year, The third planet next year and the Shattering for '11.
Bundalings Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Then the Mistika had to come along and prove to me that LEGO could indeed mess up things even worse. The Mistika Toa have to be the worst of all Toa LEGO has released so far (and I thought the mahri were bad). lol I looooooooove Gali Mistika, at least once you lengthen her neck to normality. Before that she's disgusting. After that she's awesome. Really, Onua's the only one out of all of them that doesn't remind me of the old crew. Not saying that they're all good, but I see the resemblance... Well, you guys are being too optimistic about this. Where's the standard negativity when something new happens? Where'd this info come from? Hmm, '10 ans '11, eh?That makes me think of tiny childrens now who are going to fall in love with BIONICLE in '09, then like it until '12 when they'll probably bastardize everything about the Glatorian, and then the children will whine like old fans do now. We'll have passed on the torch to a new set of whiners. Yay. That would be hilarious. XD ~Bunda

He's the only one who really seemed like the original, in my opinion... Oh, and yes. 2009 is awesome. I hope for a chariot.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) Just dug up the old list of 2009 names -- lookie, guys, and see what I've deducted... IMPULSE 1/AtakusIMPULSE 2/Raanu IMPULSE 3/Tarduk IMPULSE 4/Berix IMPULSE 5/Metus IMPULSE 6/Zesk Bionicle CORE 1/Skrall Bionicle CORE 2/Malum Bionicle CORE 3/Vastus Bionicle CORE 4/Tarix Bionicle CORE 5/Strakk Bionicle CORE 6/Vorox Bionicle CORE 7/Stronius Bionicle CORE 8/Ackar Bionicle CORE 9/Gresh Bionicle CORE 10/Kiina Bionicle CORE 11/Gelu Bionicle CORE 12/Mata Nui Bionicle In each of the three groups -- the IMPULSE and twin COREs -- the sets are listed after color! Black, then red, green, blue, white, and finally tan. Even though Gresh and Vastus are switched around, Gresh is still in the green spot of the second CORE group. Now, look at the bottom ones. Zesk, Vorox... Mata Nui. Mata Nui = Tan. I rest my case. -Ikk Edited November 30, 2008 by Ikki o' Moopyville
Refia Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Well I want Bara-Magna this year, The third planet next year and the Shattering for '11. Please no. I want us to stay on location for more than one year for once so we can learn a lot about the culture of the inhabitants and the land they live in, just like Mata Nui in 2001-2003. That's part of what made Mata Nui so great imo. Ever since we left that paradise, LEGO never really gave us another location we could get to know so well as we did Mata Nui.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 We spent less time in Metru Nui, but it was almost as exciting. And neither of those locations are anyway near the size of Bara Magna... they could easily pull off a trilogy there, set in different geographical regions of the planet. -Ikk

Gold and tan don't work well, IMO. ~Bunda
ShaddowCroc Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Well, we should actually see summer images earlier than we usually see them because of the movie. Remember, we knew what the Vahki looked like in February of '04.
iLego94 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Must not calm down... Anyways, does anyone have the complete set list (the old one, with the HPP and stuff, instead of Kaxium...) with the set numbers??? I'm trying to replace the old acronyms with the new names, but I need the list with the set numbers first. Thanks :) ~iLego94
Can Calyx Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 In each of the three groups -- the IMPULSE and twin COREs -- the sets are listed after color! Remember Avak being brown with Hewkii yellow, or Pohatu Orange with Bitil Yellow? In the section once reserved for Brown (which, honestly, I never understood in the first place), it seems there is always room for shifting colors.
hewkii9 Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 2009 just won, Bionicle has become good again, not to metion everything else which is brilliant! It's official - 2009 is the best Bionicle year ever. I seriously can't believe how hard this year is rocking Don't be hasty now young hobbits - a nice first lineup, some storyline tidbits, and a movie doesn't ensure that the whole year will be great - there are people who didn't like 2004. Not trying to be a Dennis Downer here, but I'd still only stay cautiously optimistic.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) I think I need to clarify this a bit for you.The tribes are not made up of Glatorian-sized characters -- they are made up of the smaller sets, and the Glatorian work for the tribes. In the case of the Skrall, their Glatorian are not allowed to work for any other tribe and wouldn't want to anyway, so they are considered to actually be a part of the rock tribe. There are also many more Skrall than there are non-Skrall Glatorian. I think Greg has a screwed up sense of the word 'clarify'. -Ikk Edited November 30, 2008 by Ikki o' Moopyville
