Oh hey! I beg to differ on these McDonalds sets!

I see that a few of them have removable weapons and projectiles.

No shocker, Gorast seems to be the best set even as a Happy Meal toy, what with pop-off wings.

In fact, that one figure alone has me wanting to go to McDonalds to try and get one (as many as possible).

It's literally been YEARS since there was a Happy Meal toy to get me to do that.

(Are these out yet? ...I forget...)

If Gorast's wings have any compatibility with normal lego then I agree with you - I'ma getting a Gorast or three. If the wings have the same shiny holographic effect of the real gorast wings, then I'm gonna get a Gorast for that as well.

Either or, even though I'd prefer real lego promo sets, I'll probably still try to get them seeing as they're always good reference for art and what-not - the previous action figure McToys resemble the BIONICLE game styles quite nicely.

Wouldn't the actual sets be better reference for art? :P

Random story tidbits.

Is there money at BM, or do Agori/Glatorian trade their items?

It's mostly goods or services. For example, if you were doing a job escorting a trade caravan, they might give you some of their goods in payment (like armor or weapons), or they might give you water and food, or they might give you something else of value that you could trade elsewhere.

I can confirm for you that the purpose of MN's mission was not to find a place for conquest or for colonization. But it WAS tied to the story the EP entity told and the consequences of that story, so you are in the ballpark there.
Okay. But just for confirmation: The planet the EP entity came from is the homeworld of the Great Beings, right?

Yes

2) The Agori have the Glatorian fight for them, but what is the exact purpose for the fighting? Just to gain power and prestige, so that they can say their fighter(s) are the best and they are the best tribe?

2) No. Let me explain how the social system works on Bara Magna. Let's say I have a village, and you have a village. One day, one of my Agori stumbles on an oasis halfway between our villages. I claim it, but so do you - and there's no way to prove who saw it first. In a lot of places, that might lead to a war over a resource as precious as water is in a desert. Not Bara Magna. I send my Glatorian, you send yours, and they fight. Whichever wins, his village gets the claim to the oasis. The Glatorian system was set up so the villages don't waste lives and resources on wars.

I've already got the sets, and the McDonalds ones are interesting because the pieces are changed and simplified so that they can be a solid figure. So, they could be useful. :pir-wink:

Very nice story info there about EP coming from the GB Planet. Although it was kind of obvious, Greg saying yes is always good.

So far it seems like the GBs warred over their planet for the EP, but destroyed their planet in the process. Some of the survivors built Mata Nui using EP to fuel the creation and operation of Mata Nui so that he could go to other planets and observe them. From here, there are a couple of things that Mata Nui could be doing. I'm tossing between finding and preparing (ie, removing local wildlife/inhabitants) for a new planet for the GBs to live on, or finding other GBs or some important item that got lost from the GB planet.

There's also the possibility that the GBs blew up there planet into the smaller planets of Bara Magna. the EO and some others and seek to put them together again, but that's a bit far-fetched. :pir-laugh:

Pretty sweet, but could anyone ask Greg if Mats was expendable because when all the matoran die, Mats will die as well...

Nice information Ikk! If you couple that with some of the tidbits given to us at that library event a while back it seems like we may get a bit of back story on the Great Beings and their planet. I mean Greg did say we get to see Mata Nui built, and he also said he was built because of an emergency....

YAY GBs!!!

Just wondering about it since, I think it hasn't been mentioned... Has anyone pointed out that Fero is a Skrall (confirmed by Greg), thus meaning he earned a name?

Posted
... didn't Greg confirm that Fero wasn't a Skrall? Given his size, I'd say he's definitely an Agori.

-Ikk

True. Silly me confused answer No, to following yes :pir-tongue:

I thought Greg said he wasn't an Agori....

3) Fero is not an Agori nor is he a member of the rock tribe. He is, however, related to the rock tribe.

Hi, Greg.

Three questions on 2009 and beyond:

1. Do the six Glatorian sets represent six separate species?

1a. Are there other intelligent species on Bara Magna besides Agori/Glatorian? (Perhaps a cyclops, maybe? Eh, eh?)

2. What would you say the likelihood of Ahkmou appearing in next year's serial is?

3. I normally wouldn't bother asking it, but I've seen other members' theories on the subject get responses, so I'll ask anyways:

Essentially, does the story go that Energized Protodermis was discovered on another planet (Perhaps the Great Beings' world) and wars were fought over it? Either the EP itself or the wars (Possibly both) would have caused the planet to come apart into three smaller worlds. The Great Beings then would have created Mata Nui to go and put these worlds back together into one, or at least contribute in some way to that ultimate goal.

(Perhaps his observations of other planets were for locating pieces of this original world, but I'm not entirely sure at the moment...)

I'm not asking if this is all correct, because I'm sure it's not, but would you say I'm in the ballpark somewhat?

1) No, I don't see them as separate species

1a) Not that I am aware of offhand

2) Oh, it's certainly possible

3) The first sentence is correct. The rest I simply don't want to comment on at this point -- not saying you are wrong or right, just that it is too early for revelations on those things.

yay ahkmou

I'm surprised no one here or on BZP has the 2009 sets yet...

Someone in the 2009 Official Sightings Topic said they saw them in a shop, but didn't get any.... :pir-hmpf_bad:

Well, our friend 80 Dollar has already bought Tarix and Berix, and is waiting for them to arrive. He should have them, and make a review this week.

Here.

Do you think we're going to have a tan Ignika? :pir-sceptic:

As shown in the past, the brown sets no longer have a fixed colour, so there isn't too much reason to stick with tan for more than one canister. Gold is probably a very strong possibility for Mata Nui, and is the one I'm hoping for.
