When Mata Nui uses the Ignika to create himself a new body next year, can you imagine him wearing this Ignika? (That's if LEGO decides not to just reuse the Ignika mold.)

I think it would be cool. Sort of a cross between the Ignika, Mata Nui's face, and the Mata Nui Stone.

I'm kinda disappointed that Mata Nui isn't white and gold :hmpf_bad: , but I'm ok with tan. I wouldn't mind an Inika build for Mata Nui, so long as it has Matoro Inika's chest armor in that Brutaka copper gold color. And then the Tarix's shoulder and thigh armor. He would have TAN joints and a TAN Inika torso, with either tan or copper gold metru feet. Either tan vahki legs for arms and tan Inika legs, or tan rahkshi legs for his arms and legs would be nice too. Copper gold of those new hand pieces, yellow of that new head piece, a golden 2008 Ignika (finally!), and some kinda staff/sword and a shield. Ahh, that would be perfect  . I just hope the summer launchers that TLC is bound to slap on them aren't ridiculous  .

So you want basically an Inika clone with gold and tan? I happen to agree with you, considering that the Inika were very critical to him. The Nuva were fine and all, but the Inika saved is life. So the least he could do is look like one.

And I'm not so concerned about the launchers, because the most recent ones (Thornax and Nynrah) were great advances in the launcher technology. So I'm excited for Mata Nui. Really. :D

Haha. Yeah, basically. If TLC is gonna keep using the same pieces, we might as well get new colors . And I'd rather have Mata Nui, this Great Spirit we've followed for 8 years, look like another Inika rather than some creature-looking thing like Skrall . And true, true, they have been improving the launchers, so the next one should be very interesting.

It would just be some kind of sick awesome if they give MataNui a Mata 2001 torso, along with some clever new part(s) that make it not ridiculous toward the underside.

HOW awesome would that be?!?

Never happen of course, just sayin'

Seriously though, I don't care about MataNui's

-colors

-weapons

-mask

-ancient symbols

-his ANYTHING.

I just want Lego to start making ball sockets that don't megablocking break.

I'm so sad... I'm here picking up my Lego bins because I'm getting frisky lately to join in on a few contests...

...and these SHIT pieces from Phantoka and Mistika are disintegrating.

Perhaps that's even WHY I haven't been mocing or buying Lego sets the past few months.

The last thing I remember (lol), I bought a bunch of Phantoka and Mistika canister sets... aaaaand the ball sockets broke, often the first time I snapped them together.

Yes. Yes, I'm sure that's EXACTLY why I've been out of it awhile.

It's like when you buy a cool, expensive action figure, but then feel one of the joints go smush instead of turning right... you get spooked (rightfully so, it's broken) and just put it up somewhere to display.

So yeah, I'm here having fun building again, but then all the newer parts continue breaking, right on the circle where the ball pops in. Unacceptable. It truly makes me stop building and go do other things.

For months. (lol?)

It's disheartening. It really is.

I can't believe they changed the design to make them even THINNER last year! WTF.

Not only thinner, but now incompatible to put a 1x1 disc inside the outer circle! WTF!

I wanted to rush out and snag these Glatorian at first sight... but I think I'll cool my jets instead, to see if reports from others come back that they're still all awful in the ball department.

I didn't even buy BIONICLE since that change occurred. I'll see how much I mind the sockets when I get Glatorian.

I didn't realize BIONICLE had issues with balls.

LOL.

More on our black-armoured friends from Bara Magna, the Skrall:

Hi,

Here's something I asked GregF not so long ago

EDIT: spoiler tags added :)

Hi Greg,

Here on BZPower, there is "the official 2009 story topic", but in this topic it says two things that seem to contradict eachother:

Skral: Skrall is their species name.
The Glatorian are all of the same species.

Now, I think you can understand why this confuses me, could you help me out of this problem, please :)

Thanks for your time,

LtoF

Skrall are not the same species as the other Glatorian are ... that's why they are stronger, faster than other Glatorian. While they do the job of Glatorian, they are not the same in the sense that they have no choice when it comes to fighting for their village. They are basically soldiers being sent to fight in the arena.

At home I have a special small box I put broken pieces in, and last year and this year I've broken so many pieces that half the box has been filled up.

..ridiculous.

TLC replies to public by making 'stronger parts' which are weaker now every set is ducked

2008:

People are pissed more

LEGO don't give a monkeys big behind

It's not just BIONICLE that's been hurt by LEGO's cheapification of parts. I noticed a lot of system parts have had a less consistent color- as in, if you have a lot of brown pieces, you'll notice that some are lighter and darker than they should be. I never noticed that in the older sets. Stickers are the result of cheapification as well.

Hopefully LEGO won't try and pull a purple on us with the brown too. :pir-hmpf_bad:

Anyway, with the 2008 joints, I find that they go together well the first time, but if you take them apart again and MOC with them, then they'll break. Therefore I find myself building the sets, and leaving it at that.

For duplicates that I get, I keep all the non socket joints, and sell the sockets. Works well. :pir_laugh2:

The new sockets are definitely a lot worse, =/

They've been breaking a lot for me, especially all the sockets in my Toa Ignika.

But I've been starting to use a way to put in sockets, and I think it helps them from breaking.

Instead of just inserting them by holding them from the sides and directly putting the socket on, try holding the ends of the socket (The clips), and put slight pressure on them.

Then slide it into the socket. Instead of a loud click I get a sort of a dull snap, and sometimes it takes quite a fit of force to slide it in, but I think it works well in the end.

To me, it worked well in my latest sets, with Pohatu from Rockoh, Takanuva and Onua all having perfectly perfect sockets.

For now. >_>

Hope that helps anyway.

Still wish Lego would fix this nasty problem.

Same here. I think this is one of the reasons I've been so dry in the MOCing department lately.

Not just the colors... I've noticed the bricks themselves are slightly translucent.

Yeah, that's how I do it. It's when you start taking them apart the problems start...

LEGO, PLEASE DON'T GIVE US THAT CRAP ABOUT PURPLE NOT BEING HIGH ENOUGH QUALITY WHEN YOU'RE MAKING LAME QUALITY EVERYTHING LIKE YOU ARE NOW

And while you're bringing Purple back, either lower the prices or (preferably) raise the quality of your parts. You got us paying more for less and it makes me angry.

I do That or hold the ball in your fingers, and the socket on your palm . . .

Quite a bit of hate in this thread, but it's nice to see that someone other than me has actually noticed this. This has been going on for almost two years now and I've brought it on EB countless times before. This is the main reason why I'm reluctant to buy any new sets for full price these days, except in certain, unaffected colors like black and blue.

There was a TLG engineer at the Brickfair event a few months ago (the same guy who gave the news about purple) and he brought this up in his presentation. I asked him if they had any intention of fixing it and he gave a mid-2009 timeframe, claiming that it takes them years to readjust colors, so we'll have to just wait and see what happens.
