Bundalings Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) Vorox, again.Very pretty. Maybe I'll get an extra one of them.... Shakar Eh, the only thing that draws me to Vorox is the color scheme. Everything else is... lame. ~Bunda Edit: Yeah, if something happens to Vezon I'll be ticked. Pencoin Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Can we get that guy onto EB? That was amazing!
Antrozek Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I talked with Ulises Arreola in Deviantart in last days. Y lo mas Genial es que mi Glatorian Favorito Gresh (Guerrero Verde) se Enfrenta con mi Otro Favorito, Skrall (Gurrero Negro). i don't Wnt to Translate it, but He confirmed me that Gresh and Skrall got the First Fight in 2009 Comic. There will be REAL Fights in the 2009 Comics.
Antrozek Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Thanks... but its old news... oh..well, at least it was confirmed it no?
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Ahahaha XD SPI remains the funniest guy ever is Bionicle history. Brilliant! -Ikk
Tacitus Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Just thought I would stop in and mention that I saw pretty much all of the new Glatorian figures at Toys R Us in Wisconsin (US) today, including the small $6.99 companions. I have to say, not being a Bionicle fan, some of these are pretty cool. Especially, the scorpion guys. Good hunting. Tacitus
Shakar Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Love the video. :P Is Shakar the only one who loves Berix's beautiful helmet? It's completely different than the usual faces and masks we get. Instead of eyes it looks like he has a mecha like visor and it looks like the lower part of the head is made of energy. Lovely! Shakar

Shakar Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) I too love how the little flames match the (awesome) Tahu Mata sword. Kinda like the horns on the Arthron that matched Jaller Mahri's armour. Also, dark blue Toa feet are love. A must buy, perhaps more so than Tarix, whose helmet pales if compared to the one his little friend sports. Shakar Edited December 16, 2008 by Shakar
Bundalings Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) Yeah... the Agori look better than the Glatorian, in most cases. Strakk and Skrall are exempt from this strangeness though. Vorox = fail Zesk = win Gresh = decent Tarduk = looks good Strakk = win Metus = decent (I love the mask and shield but I hate that body and the limbs are too short and bent) Skrall = decent Atakus = meh Malum = meh Raanu = maaaaaasssssssk win Tarix = fail Berix = wiiiin ~Bunda Edit: That video is awesome. Spirit has skills. Edited December 16, 2008 by Bundalings
Wrinkledlion X Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Hi, Greg, three questions:1. Something bugging me as of late is the presence of Spirit Stars both outside and inside of Mata Nui. How does this work? Do they appear outside in space (Perhaps jettisoned from the Red Star in some way?) initially and get copied in the skies of the Matoran Universe when Mata Nui sees them? Or does Mata Nui launch them himself? ...Or is it just a plain mystery? 2. When the Sand Tribe regressed, how would you say it went? Did they just gradually become more and more reclusive, trading less and less, until they disappeared entirely? Then later, perhaps after many generations, some Agori/Glatorian found them living as they do now? 3. Not sure if you can answer, but what are these treasures that Tarduk searches for? Leftovers from when the Vorox and Zesk were civilized? 1) Still a mystery 2) They were fairly reclusive to start with, which was part of the problem. And like some humans in a crisis, they reverted to barbarism 3) No, no ... civilization was, at one time, more advanced on Bara Magna than it is now. So there are old weapons, pieces of equipment (whose nature is unknown), old parchments and tablets, things like that buried in the sand here and there.
kill will Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 What happened? Bionicle sets were really simple when it started, just a body block, 1 piece limbs and a head. Then the slightly more complicated Bohrok came, then the Bohrok-Kal and Toa Nuva. Then the Mask of Light franchise started, giving Bionicle (And Lego) their first movie. The Rahkshi also had the first jointed legs, and Makuta made his first appearance. It also was when the Mata-Nui storyline ended, leaving fans asking "What next?" Then BAM! The Metru-Nui storyline started with jointed arms and legs. At first the enemy was the Morbuzahk? then it switched to the Vahki and introduced the 'Brotherhood of Makuta' with Krekka and Nidihki. It was like pulling a Lucas, with the Turaga actually past heroes and all the other crap. And THEN the Toa-Metru were transformed into the Hordika and Visorak invaded Metru-Nui with Sidorak and Roodaka leading them. I don't even remember the backstory behind the Keetongu guy, or how the Hordika turned into Turaga. After that they dumped the prequel story line and made Voya-Nui, the far away island with the Mask of Life. By the way, what's up with the masks to save Mata-Nui? He is so needy. Some Matoran predictably turn into Toa with squishy masks and flashy light up swords. Fighting bad guys with squishy mask/spines and huge grins. Makuta returns as a vat of goo that infects innocent li'l Matoran! Then the Toa go underground for the mask and find Vezon on his big steed with the mask in his head! They beat him up and manage to sink Voya-Nui, good little Toa that they are. Enter the ocean! Evil sea-like creatures bully underwater matoran for the Mask of Life, but the Toa come and get the mask, Matoro saves Mata-nui (Or so I thought) and then, oh, they're flying! They've got jet-packs or wings and fight flying Makuta, although I didn't quite catch why... and do something or other on oversized speeders to save Mata-Nui and think they did, but then 'Oh Snap!' Makuta is in control of the show, and 2008 ends. From what I've gathered so far, they dumped all of that for the Glatorian. These guys have actual hands, something Bionicle seems to have been avoiding for a while, and huge cartoony weapons and weird masks. If you look back to the original sets, the plain simple masks and weapons and compare them to these guys it's weird. The Glatorian seem so un-Bionicle, with organic looking torsos and weapons. The earlier ones were much more robotic, with crude, un-shapely bodies. I liked that, it set Bionicles apart from action figures, but it seems like the designers decided that kids want humanoid, slim figures with big guns and swords. I think that the Mask of Light should have been the end, it seemed to have concluded the story. But then a prequel was made, probably due to Bionicle's popularity. A prequel is okay if done right. Like a short prequel. But a second year was added, and then Voya-Nui. (I still don't see how that fits into the main story) And that branched off for 2 more years. And now a completely new everything. I don't like how Bionicle has been dragged along for almost 9 years, and perhaps longer. I think it should have ended at Metru-Nui, but it still is going. I quit buying Bionicles when Voya-Nui happened, and never was an avid fan, but I don't think Bionicle is going in the right direction. Its been dying since '06, and I think it just died. Of course, that's only my opinion. If you read this whole rant, you must really be bored, like me.
Bundalings Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I just noticed that in this picture there are only two flag designs... I mean the way the ribbon things are blowing on them. ~Bunda

The people who liked and bought the old BIONICLE of the early years are not the people who buy the sets of new BIONICLE. The kids who buy BIONICLE nowadays are used to and like the action figure sort of BIONICLE, not the Throwbot/Toa Mata/Bohrok technic style of BIONICLE, so the old BIONICLE has been replaced with the new BIONICLE. And remember, seeing as BIONICLE is a toy-line, it's dictated by the simple rule of continuing if it's profitable, stopping if it's not. So BIONICLE has been forced to change along the years to match the interests of the target audience, otherwise it would have stopped because the kids don't like old BIONICLE anymore.

Of course, that's only my opinion. If you read this whole rant, you must really be bored, like me. Holy Bejesus. No offense meant, but that's just about the most nonsensical rant I've ever read. It's basically a summary of the first eight years of Bionicle, and then here and there you dump in things like "that was crap" and "that shouldn't have been there". Even if this is just how you feel about the story, it still gives no reasons for your dislike, and most of it seems like you trying to establish your feelings as fact. Doesn't work. XD Bionicle had some slow sales in 03-04 -- with 2009 the line boomed upwards, and has been rocketing to the skies ever since. I've been unsatisfied with a lot of what's happened in those years and evidently you have too, but most people think it's better now than ever. And 2009 is absolutely revolutionary in that new and old fans are equally excited about it. Can't see why you dislike this year, or Metru Nui for that matter, but no problem if you do. Just have to realize that Bionicle made the some wise choices in 2006 and has been doing so since. And from the looks of it, 2009 will be the best yet, popularity-wise. It is light years from dying. -Ikk Edited December 17, 2008 by Ikki o' Moopyville
---Vertea--- Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MuakaS8N...ictures_030.jpg I will upload a higher-quality one soon as well as the rest of our favourite Bara Magnans. :)
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 1. With the new sets starting to appear around the US, I thought maybe you could give us some infos about characters, whose set descriptions didn't have much info. How about Tarix and Berix?1a. While a lot of Vorox and Zesk will appear in the story, there won't be a "main" one, like the case of the Skrall, right? 2. Vezon is only half Skakdi, which was the reason why he could use Tridax's Olmak right? 2a. A while ago, you said that Tobduk took Tridax's Olmak with him. Guess you changed your mind about that, huh? 3. Will we find out why a dimensional portal popped up in Karda Nui and teleported Vultraz & Mazeka to alt. Spherus Magna? 4. I heard somewhere that the plan for next year is to have the MU serial run a year long. Is this true? 5. A while ago, BZP members found a Level 3 Reader book on the Internet, which mentioned a "Glatorian Vastus", and another with a name "The Secret of Certavus". Are these two the same? 5a. When I saw the description of Gresh on Toys'R'Us website, Gresh was called "Vastus". Plus, from a set list I found in the Internet, Vastus seems to be one of 2009's sets. What I'm asking is: was Vastus meant to be the jungle Glatorian, but was later swapped with Gresh? 6. DW only has one chapter left, so do you think there'll be room for any of these characters: - Trinuma - Hydraxon - Lesovikk & Sarda - The alternate Shadow Takanuva? 7. I heard Bink said that Takanuva's Blog will end near Christmas. Does that mean it'll end next Monday or next Thursday? 1) I don't want to give all the info about before 2009, otherwise we have nothing to discuss in January 1a) Correct 2) Vezon also has experience in mask use, he wore the Mask of Life, remember? 2a) Yup. If it doesn't state in story something happened, then I don't have to abide by it. 3) Yes. 4) That is what I hope to do, provided Bink agrees. 5) No. 5a) No. 6) You'll find out when we post it 7) You would need to ask Bink about posting schedule. I wrote all those chapters months ago, and he is now putting them based on his schedule.

This picture makes me need Strakk. :P ~Bunda Edit: Gresh/Tarduk pics! Tarduk's helmet is sweet... I have a request for anyone who gets Gresh: Can you take a pic of him with the should spikes attached behind the torso so the chest lies flat? I want to see what that looks like. Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 This so reminds me of those ol' Toa-Turaga and Toa-Tohunga posters! Also, Tarduk's mask is FRIGGIN' COOL! -Ikk
Brickthing Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 This so reminds me of those ol' Toa-Turaga and Toa-Tohunga posters! I think it's the black background and elemental colours that make it so 2001-ish again. Also, what is that symbol in the background? Is it a new one, or is it just me not being able to discern something that we've all seen before?
