tao07 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Poor Toa who was holding Zaktan's bowl when it blew up. I'm surprised Greg didn't detail that Toa falling down as the large shards of glass impaled his/her stomach. Also, I has my own Takablog. What should the entry for the 26th be? Link - Set the quality to Low if you can't read it. is this real? or im getting very bad at reading english?
Wrinkledlion X Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 It's as real as you or me, Tao07. The Enemy has invaded. Better dead than red, Taka. Don't give into those communist bastards!
The Alchemyst Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Oh wow, I just saw some new Skrall pics. The proportions are absolutely terrible. ._. -Marks off list- So Looks like it's Vorox, Tarix and Gresh. Still don't see the awesomeness of Zesk. ._. He does look cute though. :3 [-The Alchemyst-]
Chef Hatchet Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Zesk looks like a cat with a mutated head. :D

He does look cute though. :3 [-The Alchemyst-] Dude, what's terrible? That he's a hunchback? Yeah, so was Onua. I mean, if you move his head back a single peg he's pretty awesome. Definitely a soldier. If I had more parts I could also bulk up his back too with just two double rods and a 1x3 bar. I love these new sets, I own Malum, Gresh, and Skrall so far. Happy to say there are no brittle pieces and that the looks rocks.
The Dor Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Oh wow, I just saw some new Skrall pics. The proportions are absolutely terrible. ._. -Marks off list- So Looks like it's Vorox, Tarix and Gresh. Still don't see the awesomeness of Zesk. ._. He does look cute though. :3 [-The Alchemyst-] Okay, Skrall's proportions are actually better than many of the sets. At least his arms and legs are not as monkey-like as Gali's or Tahu's. His shoulders being back are not quite as hunchbacked as they seem in pictures. Almost everything about him is fantastic, IMO. He is certainly my favorite set in a LONG time. More creative than the Barraki, with the same amount of articulation as any other set, and more than a lot. So I don't know what you are complaining about. He is fantastic. So bummed it is Christmas time. I wanna get the others, but know that I will save quite a bit of money from waiting for them in gifts. I'm torn. D: (he = it, considering Skrall are of both genders, just feeling very male right now *grunts*)
Bundalings Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 there are no brittle pieces I DON'T BELIEVE YOU More creative than the Barraki Nothing is more creative than the Barraki. ~Bunda
InnerRayg Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I DON'T BELIEVE YOUNothing is more creative than the Barraki. ~Bunda Accept it :P But seriously, I didn't say there none ever, but the ones I own are most definately solid-I was forceful with them.
The Dor Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I DON'T BELIEVE YOU You should. I have had no breakages yet, and I've disassembled them twice. :\ Nothing is more creative than the Barraki.~Bunda Ah. I meant to say as creative, or more. :)
matanui911 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I LOVE YOU SKRALL I personally dont. He is too skinny. The spikes coming out of his shoulders are a little too big, and his shield is too plain....
iLego94 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=305745 My interview with Ulises. BTW, finally got a Glatorian- Malum!!! I wish he had the new hands :( I think I'll get Gresh with Xmas money :D ~iLego94
Zarkan Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Don't get this at all? Skrall is the one I think looks the absolute goofiest. Goofily skinny, silly proportions, and really pretty lame bladed shoulders. I like the shield, don't like the rest.I like Gresh and Strakk, because they have character. Both their 'helmet/mask' things add an actual characterization to the sets, much as the 2001 Kanohi did for the Olda. I personally dont. He is too skinny. The spikes coming out of his shoulders are a little too big, and his shield is too plain.... I've never understood why some Bionicle fans think that all the sets have to have human-like proportions. These are biomechanical beings, for crying out loud, so why do they all have to look like humans wearing colorful armor? Skrall is obviously not meant to look anything like a real person, so to me it's fine that he's super skinny. Also, I think Skrall was made to have less character than the other Glatorian, as the kit is a representative of a whole species, not individual warriors. The same goes with Vorox - he looks a lot like a generic beast because that is the storyline role for those characters.
Ecto Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 They don't have to be humanly-proportioned, but what the hell is wrong with some actually having them? Megablocks megablocks MEGABLOCKS!
Bundalings Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 (edited) This topic... Is hilarious. ~Bunda Edit: • Being an invention of Greg, the sand stalker will not be a set. Awww... Edited December 19, 2008 by Bundalings
Holy Diver Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I love Skrall. If an Evangelion unit, a Spartan, and Teridax (in regards to the facial expression) had a love child, it would look like Skrall. You just can't beat that. Allthough Vorox comes close.

It's not about human proportions, it's about proportions that are aesthetically pleasing, and work with the set. If a set has Gorilla proportions, fine, the whole thing best work in that manner, or the long arms are going to look goofy. If you're going for a beastial look, that's cool, but the proportions need to work within the sphere that has been created. In Skrall's case, he just looks dumb. It has nothing to do with the proportions being human-like, it has everything to do with the fact that everything he is, put together, looks goofy and ridiculous. His body is this weird thin twig, with these wide shoulders. His arms have this god-awful new blade pieces sticking up to high heavens, with arms that reach near the floor. He has these goofy legs, with those goofy new armour pieces making it look like he has bubbling thighs, and the overall effect is goofiness and hilarity. Case in point: Strakk has the exact same length arms as legs. That's a huge human proportion no-no. He also has a hunched back, a forward-mounted head, and the overall effect is that of, say, an icy cave-troll. The proportions work with each other to lend an air of aesthetic value to the set. Is he humanly proportioned? No. Is he better for it? Yes.
Bundalings Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I agree with DV, but Bfa's pic is still awesome and is still on my hard drive. But the only thing that bothers me about Skrall is the shortness, not thinness of his torso. It's like... Av Matoran sized. ~Bunda

Is he humanly proportioned? No. Is he better for it? Yes. Well, that's all well and good, but you've got to remember that how "aesthetically pleasing" and "working with the set" a design is all depends on taste, which is variable. Some people do like what you call "goofiness," while others may not see certain designs as goofy at all. Personally, I like to think of Skrall as an "alien foot soldier type." Now, think about this - how many alien designs out there have really skinny and pointed proportions? A LOT. And Skrall really reminds me of designs like those - thin, spindily limbs with bulbous muscle-like sacks and a pointed head and arms. In fact, in some ways he reminds me of a sketch I made for my latest story on BZP: The point is that what appeals to one may not appeal to others. It's understandable if you don't get where I'm coming from, since I don't completely understand you either. Doesn't really matter though, as long as we respect other's opinions.
