InnerRayg Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) Newsflash Tuma disappointed me. I mean, I'm already really burnt out on the whole lime green thing, and then when I built him I come to find out his wing/blade/backspines are completely imposable. I think the Helmet is cool. The stickers add something to it, but having it printed like that would have been ten times as awesome. It's oddly flimsy though-this is kind of a weird thing with the Glatorian, some of them have these thinner helmets like Malum and then you get Gresh who has a thick, sturdy helmet that would put the Kanohi to shame. Anyway, his big black sword is cool and if you like beefy warriors he's not a bad buy, but man that back spine thing really threw me for a loop. If there was some way to exchange him for a Strakk I'd do it in a heartbeat. Heck, while I'm here I might as well give some other thoughts... Gresh has such a well done color scheme it's kind of scary. He's a generic humanoid in every sense of the word, but he just doesn't feel old. His spectacular dual purpose weapons, his sturdy and menacing helmet, and his flowing color scheme play out well . I like this kind of innovation Lego, let's do this more. I like Malum as long as he is looking down, very malevolent. The claws really are neat too as long as you can replace the Silver Visorak Claw with a red one. Unfortunately he's laughably short if you don't replace his legs with something new, but a longer thigh did the trick and I'm a big fan of him now. Skrall is also pretty tight on his color scheme, and unlike Gresh he's not completely generic in his build. I know some people don't dig him, but I love his new thigh plates and all his weapons feel like a warrior's. These sets are just so well done in comparison to what we've gotten in the past, I want whoever designed these to get a hefty raise. Still looking forward to Strakk, hopefully he starts showing up in stores. I've also got Berix/Tarix under the tree at home...he's as generic as Gresh but without the saving grace of an awesome color scheme, but his Axes do look extremely cool from what I've seen. And Vorox suffers from a really cool concept with poor execution. He's got the Tan, yes, but otherwise there is nothing he offers that you can already get from Zesk done better. Darkness Falls Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 :D Amazing. I guess DV is entitled to his own opinion... what one man finds aesthetically revolting is another man's treasure. He doesn't like Skrall. I do... I like that Evangelion proportioning.

Sad and very true. =/ I'll still get him for MOCing parts, but after Strakk and Gresh. ~Bunda
The Alchemyst Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Turns out the pics I saw were Toaraga's and he built Skrall wrong. When he built it, the hands came down to the ankles, and he had wimpy shoulders -- not of a soldier. But after finding out he was built wrong, he's back in my list. I'm still loving the swords. And did anyone notice that Berix has Metru Blue Mata Feet? With that Light Blue Tahu Sword and those feet, he's going to be the first Agori I get. [-The Alchemyst-]

The problem with the metru-blue feet, Raanu's Yellow-Orange feet, and Photok's orange feet is that they're new style joints. I know I'm picky, but they're not the same.
thomas123 Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 warning major spoilers!!!! i warned ya • The 2009 storyline will take place roughly over several months. • The 2009 story takes place on a planet named Bara Magna. • The inhabitants are native to Bara Magna. • The inhabitants of Bara Magna were the Great Beings' inspiration for the creation of the Matoran and other beings of the Matoran Universe. • The six tribes of Bara Magna are: o Fire o Water o Ice o Sand o Rock o Jungle • These elemental affiliations are based on the geography of where the beings live. • All of Bara Magna's tribes have mixed genders. • The inhabitants ingest food. • Bara Magna's inhabitants do not know of the existence of Mata Nui, Toa, etc. • They are also unaware of what the Unity-Duty-Destiny symbol refers to. • The inhabitants wear powerless mask/helmets, which in some cases are symbols of status. • Helmets/Masks are generally not created because the Agori are lousy at making new ones. • The inhabitants are not technologically advanced. • The inhabitants do not believe in prophecies, as they have to survive day to day. • At the start of the 2009 story, no tribe is considered to be "evil." • The Thornax launcher is the most powerful weapon the inhabitants have. Skrall are faster and stronger than other Glatorian. There are more Skrall than there are non-Skrall Glatorian. Skrall are given individual names if they earn them. Nicknames are forbidden unless Tuma grants a Skrall a name. Skrall are not allowed to work for any other tribe but the Rock Tribe, and as such are considered to be a part of it. Skrall have no choice but to fight in the arena, and typically dominate Glatorian matches. Skrall are arrogant due their great winning streaks in the arena. Skrall are nasty in person. o Strakk Strakk will save anyone from danger provided that payment terms are agreed on. o Tarix o Vorox Vorox is also a species name. The Vorox regressed to barbarism following a planet-wide disaster in the last 100,000 years or so and have become little more than beasts. Quite a few Vorox exist. Vorox do not fight in arenas by choice but by specific tribes. Vorox sometimes fight in an arena that does not belong to them. Vorox do not participate in the social system. Vorox can speak a broken version of the same language of the Glatorian/Agori. The Vorox's thought processes are much closer to Rahi. Agori • Agori are the villager-size 2009 sets. • The six are: o Atakus o Berix o Metus o Raanu o Tarduk o Zesk Zesk are representatives of a certain tribe, not an individual. Post-disaster, the Zesk regressed in the last 100,000 years or so and have become little more than beasts. Zesk can speak a broken version of the same language of the Glatorian/Agori. The Zesk's thought processes are much closer to Rahi. • Agori is a species name. • Tribes are made up of Agori, and not Glatorian. • Tribes of one color can recruit Glatorian of another color. • Agori can grow as old as Matoran. • Villages are in competition for resources. • Friendships are accepted among the Agori. • An Agori cannot become a Glatorian, but they are permitted to fight alongside Glatorian in arenas. There were, however, once rivers on the planet. • There are a variety of villages on Bara Magna. Known ones include: o Vulcanus, the Fire Tribe's village o Roxtus, the Rock Tribe's village o Atero is a city free of Glatorian, home only to Agori (excluding those of the Rock and Sand Tribes) • The social system on Bara Magna works to settle resource disputes and avoid war. The Agori send Glatorian to fight in arenas, and the winner's village gets to claim the resources, preventing wasted lives and resources on war. This system was established following some form of planet-wide disaster. • Bara Magna does not have anything worth conquering, so is relatively worthless for Teridax. • The Red Star can be seen dimly from Bara Magna. • There are organic creatures on Bara Magna. • Dangerous wildlife exists on Bara Magna. • Thornax fruit can be found in the desert, and is usually sought out or traded for. • Nothing on Bara Magna is formed of Protodermis, for it is a substance that exists solely in the Matoran Universe. • The currency on Bara Magna is goods or services. • Civilization was, at one time, more advanced on Bara Magna than it is now. Bone Hunters • Bone Hunters is a tribe name. • Bone Hunters are nomads who live in the desert. • Bone Hunters are bandits who raid trade caravans, and occasionally, villages. • They steal food, weapons, and whatever else they can get their hands on. • If they do hit a caravan, they rarely leave anyone alive to tell the tale. • Bone hunters are not the same species as Agori. • They are related to the Rock tribe, but are not members of it. • All Bone Hunters ride creatures called Rock Steeds. • Thornax stew is mainly eaten by Bone Hunters. • Known Bone Hunters are: o Fero and Skirmix Fero is the Bone Hunter. Put this in your pipe and smoke it: You can't start a fire with out a spark, Levon wears his war wound like a crown, Jack let go, Nobody watches the watchmen, but the hope lives on, we all know you don't have to go home but you can't stay here! BTW, Malum is my second favorite set right after Tahu mata!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't imagine an interview with a colorist being front-page news, anyway.
Brickthing Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 It's your fault you made the topic, not theirs.I wouldn't imagine an interview with a colorist being front-page news, anyway. Still kinda sad for what it say about what B6 thinks about the colourists. For every single Taka Blog update and Serial update, there is already a topic open a day before they post that news, and they still close all those topics in favour of talkbacks. How hard can it be to close this topic too?
Zarathos Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 You know, I was just thinking and I realized that next year's Ignika will have to be a new mold since they'll almost certaintly give Mat Nui a Glatorian head. Pretty obvious, but I haven't seen it posted in here yet so I figured I'd do the honor. -Z

ShaddowCroc Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I'd actually be happy if he had a metru head. Or even if he were an Inika clone (Which is likely.). Because then we have a character who uses old building conventions and pieces to show that he's returning from the old place we all remember. (And Extra Points for using the old style joints, too.)
Pencoin Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 I think he will be a Ignika on steroids. If would have new joints regardless though.

Or just a Glatorian head flipped around. Don't some Glatorian already have that kind of mask connection? :/ (I would prefer having a gold version of the current Ignika to a new mold, though.) Brickthing Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Well those deal with storyline, and they're official serious business. The way most Takanuva Blogs go, I don't think they merit their own new entry when an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview looking into the production of BIONICLE doesn't. It's the exclusive interviews and information that makes BZP good, not repetition of what's already easily accessible on the official BIONICLE website. Or just a Glatorian head flipped around. Don't some Glatorian already have that kind of mask connection? :/(I would prefer having a gold version of the current Ignika to a new mold, though.) I think all the Glatorian heads are orientated the same way. And yes, I'd prefer a Gold Ignika, but I can't really see that happening from a Sets and sales perspective.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Hey, iVahi, since you seem to have such great relations with the comic book team, could you please tell Ulises to stop the crappy coloring? xD -Ikk
