Algernon Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 MoD's review of Strakk.Hmm, is it just me or the review over the Member Review Database was better than this? The new comic was really good. Loved the characters, and the colourist did a better job than usual. Also, gotta love Strakk- he'll probably be my first Glatorian. Shakar I disagree with that reviewer completely- I have Strakk, and I have to say he's probably one of the BEST Glatorian available. None of the other Glatorian look as elemental as Strakk. His huge ice shoulder blades are awesome (a little big, yes, but that doesn't detract from the look imo), his mask is perfect, and his axe is deadly looking. The color scheme is great, I love the ice-like ends to the shoulder armor and axe. His body is built into a slouch, which is weird, but it does add to the wild monster-like appearance LEGO was apparently going for. The only complaint I have is that his legs are a little boring, with no new pieces to speak of. Otherwise Strakk is WAY better than Skrall.
Pencoin Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I think every 2009 set is actually suited to its character while looking great, and this is coming from the guy who had his named changed to Rantcoin on another fourm.
Antrozek Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 But won't Mata-Nui have magic Iggy? Hmm, maybe the shadowed version appears in the rumored warrior set, and the canister set is further transformation? Anyway, well done Vertea! Oh, I mis-read, I think you are right about 3&3 though. Can anyone guess what Stronius mask is, if you are right. as i see...the Stronius Helmet is a Spiky Skrall Helmet
Pencoin Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Yeah I guess its just modded to have spikes, or maybe Vertea got it wrong about Ackars mask being a red Berix mask, although that would rock to make a shadow Berix.

I actually must agree with this completely. Honestly, I haven't felt as satisfied with the current Bionicle canister line in years - it seems that ever year I either start out hating them, or end up liking most of them but really disliking one or two of them. This year, I've found myself at least liking every canister set, and many of them I absolutely love.

ShaddowCroc Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Oh wow. I never noticed that. Every main hero character since 2001 was a character from 2001. . . Huh. Makes you think about things doesn't it? It also makes me imagine "The Glatorian Nuva". >.<
Pencoin Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 (edited) Personally I think Gregs statement about not keeping last years sets in circulation is a load of Sand Bat. They stop having to do this transfomation crap, and if they really have to, can't they at least look 1% like the version that was released the year before. Keep the prominet returning characters in circulation, or make new ones!!! I say! Hey! Way!... I'll shut up now... Edited December 30, 2008 by Pencoin
Lemonardo 114 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 And then the Visorak were revealed really early, too. Propably because in Europe the Visorak were released in Winter and the Hordika in Summer, while Americans got the opposite.

The new comic was really good. Loved the characters, and the colourist did a better job than usual. Also, gotta love Strakk- he'll probably be my first Glatorian. Shakar I decided against reading it since Strakk is en route. http://shop.lego.com/ByCatalog/onlinecat.aspx?c=32Go to the Glatorian page. Once there, zoom in on the life counter image in the tiny circle at the bottom of the page. This is our first glimpse at Ackar! See the orange Inika armor and red body? And the mask? Compare with the images we got and BLAMMO! EDIT: Looking at the Ackar mask and comparing it to Berix's mask, I find that they are the same. It would appear that our summer friends will have winter masks in other colors!!!! YES!!! Though new masks would be cool, I think we will be getting half and half. Half new masks, half recoloured winter masks Nice find... but I doubt it will be the same mask. Why? Look at Kiina and Gelu. Both of them have masks that are awfully similar to Ackar's. I think they'll be Berix-like masks with new elemental trail things on the back. Like with Gelu there will be snowflake patterns (look at the pic) instead of wavy watery patterns. ~Bunda

It also makes me imagine "The Glatorian Nuva". >.< Just imagine if the original story plan had gone through, where in 2008 the Toa Nuva and Mahri failed in their mission to save Mata Nui, thus sending them on a possibly multiple year storyline to find the great beings. Yay for more redesigns of characters that have already been done to death!
ShaddowCroc Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Wait, I thought Greg said that the original plan was to end BIONICLE in 2008, after they successfully awakened Mata Nui, and nothing else happened.
Konnor Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Just got back from Meijer, the idn't hav much, but they did have some 2009 sets. I got Tuma and Zesk.
VBBN Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Just got back from Meijer, the idn't hav much, but they did have some 2009 sets. I got Tuma and Zesk. Yeah, they only had 1 gresh and 1 vorox. hat was it. And a million Onua's. I snapped up Gresh and Vorox as soon as could. Surprisingly, Gresh, which I thought would be the worst, was amazing. Despite an Inika design, he looks great.
Shakar Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Just got back from Meijer, the idn't hav much, but they did have some 2009 sets. I got Tuma and Zesk. Speaking of Tuma, I haven't seen many good pictures of him. Mainly, I'd really like to see some photos of him with his neck straightned as opposed to the hunched position. Can someone who has him post some pics? I would really appreciate that!Shakae

Neaku Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 (edited) Apparently BZPower doesn't like the pic, so it is obviously Ackar or whatever the red summer set is. And that picture makes Tuma look absolutely horrible. Not that I didn't know that already. Edited December 30, 2008 by Neaku
Antrozek Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 hey guys, an off topic question, YOU LIKE THIS? i do it in photoshop a few minutes ago
Bundalings Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 From Mask of Destiny: He looks odd. ew Bley has to go from him. Yeah, Neaku. Black Six has been quick to debunk that pic, both in someone else's topic and in my blog. At least he didn't close my blog entry, though. ~Bunda
Zarkan Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 From Mask of Destiny: He looks odd. That person seriously does not know how to pose. Look at his neck - it's not suposed to stretched up as high as possible!
VBBN Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 That person seriously does not know how to pose. Look at his neck - it's not suposed to stretched up as high as possible! No no, Shakar wanted a pic of him all straightened up, and that is what this person was doing. He agreed that it looked terrible, and is better crouched down. ;)
Ecto Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 (edited) Black Six was all "hmm looks like malum lol" and closed that topic... It's in LEGO'S OFFICIAL CATALOG. They won't stop babying BZP for something like that. Edited December 30, 2008 by Ecto
Zee toa of sonics Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 If its in the official catalogue, it is marked as safe, and able to post as long as it is not leaked. -zee
