~Wrack'n'Ruin~ Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Why? He brought no parts with him to Bara Magna, just the mask. If he made something. it'd make more sense to fit in.

I would assume he made his body before he encountered any Agori or Glatorian. Think about this: All he's ever known is Matoran and Toa (etc.), so he would model a new body after them. Right? ~Bunda

Like walking into the street of a third-world country wearing a sign, "I'm a foreigner no one will miss and probably have a lot of money on me."
ShaddowCroc Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Well, actually I doubt that he'd ever want to be a Toa/Matoran/etc. I'd think that he would use the Ignika's powers to make himself a body like he used to have, but probably smaller. But he could want to use a body template that the Ignika itself remembers, like that of Matoro or Toa Ignika. (Matoro would explain the teaser image. I think he may have become a Toa Inika-type being before he reshifted himself into something that would make him blend in.)

I didn't mean he'd -want- to look like a Toa, I'm just saying he doesn't know anything else. ~Bunda

---Vertea--- Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=360943 Decent Tarix pics. Nothin' fancy. I thought it a good find.
Algernon Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=360943Decent Tarix pics. Nothin' fancy. I thought it a good find. Ew, Tarix looks even worse in real life.
VBBN Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Ew, Tarix looks even worse in real life. Surprisingly he's third on my list of Glatorian to get(already have gresh and vorox)
Algernon Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Surprisingly he's third on my list of Glatorian to get(already have gresh and vorox) Really? I think pretty much all of the Glatorian are better than him... and I'd never get him over Malum.
Hydrobius Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 *Facepalm* Of course he looks bad, his neck is a peg lower than it should be... take it from me; I have my Tarix in-hand right now.

I don't know, maybe it's his mask and gold armor I want. Personally I don't like Malum becuase he is too much like Carapar, Kongu mahri, and Pohutau Phantoka. Short and bulky. And he has no new hands. And gresh was at the bottom of my list, but now I love him! My list(1 is top priority): Glatorian: 1) Vorox(want more of him!) 2) Gresh(awesome. Need another) 3) Tarix 4) Strakk 5) Malum 6) Skrall Agori: 1) Berix 2) Tarduk 3) Metus 4) Atakus 5) Zesk 6) Raanu Titans 1) Fero and Skimy 2) Tumor

I think Malum's aesthetics are some of the best I've seen from Bionicle in ages. He actually looks like a fire warrior. I agree that Gresh is awesome tough. I have Strakk, and I love him. His axe is just too cool, and like Malum, I actually believe he's an ice warrior.

The thing I don't like about Malum is that besides the recolored parts, mask, and claws, he is too similar to Kongu, Carps, and Pohuatu. Somehow the design gets repetitive. Not saying I wont get him though. :D Skrall on the other hand... And I want strakk for the axe as well.

The weapon that I thought looked similar to Mata Nui's armour is this one: When Mata Nui arrives on Bara Magna, it makes sense for him to blend in with the locals. Seeing as he's in the desert, I presume the first local he's going to see is a Vorox or Zesk, so he'd probably model himself of one of them. Of course, I presume he sees another local to base his design of as well, otherwise he'd have a tail.

Also, get Skrall if you get the chance. He is so far the best in hand.
80 Dollar Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Ew, Tarix looks even worse in real life. There is a little mistake in his building instructions that makes him look like a hunchback. Just place his neck a peg higher than it´s shown in the booklet and he looks fine.
InnerRayg Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hmmm... no?Lol, that'd be pretty foolish... and potentially dangerous. Like walking into the street of a third-world country wearing a sign, "I'm a foreigner no one will miss and probably have a lot of money on me." But then again, when you're a walking Deus Ex Machina (Or perhaps Machina Ex Deus in this case, but I digress) these things don't trouble you as much. :D Unless Lego inserts the patented Power Reducing factor that makes what should be someone able to dominate easily no longer so strong. Might add that Tarix is lame in that he is not special in any particular way-the other sets have great color schemes, or unique builds, or just cool aesthetics, but Tarix is something anybody could envision without much imagination. His -weapons- on the other hand, I feel are things of beauty. The Gold on them has graceful curves and feels regal, while the actual blade/water bit has a glistening, gossamer texture to it that I find very attractive. The inside curve of the blade is also transparent, and fades into the deeper blue of the blade. Maybe not as gradually as I would have liked, but the affect is still really nice.

Chances are that LEGO will find a way to greatly reduce Mata Nui's abilities until they're non-existant like other Glatorian. You can't expect 5 Canister sets to be powerless fighters while the other Canister set has Life-bending abilities. My best bet is that the Ignika's life powers only work on Protodermis or MU based beings. Still, I can't help but think how win it would be for Mata Nui to enter an arena and instantly kill/disable his opponent with the wave of a hand. I love Tarix's weapons too, even though I don't have them. I suspect that they'll make an awesome dorsal fin for a Pit Brutaka MOC.

Tyranide Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Most of 2009 names already have pronunciation on BioSector. As I recall, Greg said that most part of the power of Ignika will be used to maintain new MN body. He must be concentrated all the time.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Also, Mata Nui's spirit has zip power... except extraordinary strong willpower. My guess is he shapes himself in the form of the greatest heroes he knows, the Toa, as a sign of respect and perhaps a reminder of his own world. -Ikk
Konnor Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Ugh, I got the new magazine today and it looks like MN has a hip joint for a head.
