VBBN Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Vorox. You'll see why in my review tomorrow.
Bundalings Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Vorox or Skrall But it depends on what you're looking for. MOCing parts, new pieces or just looking cool. From what I heard, Vorox and Strakk have small heads, and Skrall has some articulation problems. [-The Alchemyst-] They're small for a Bionicle set, sure, but Bionicle sets usually have giant heads. I have Strakk and I lurv him. (Not as much as I lurv Zesk tho) ~Bunda
The Dor Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I have money for Strakk, Skrall, or Vorox.Which should I blow $13 on? Tough call. Strakk is amazing. Vorox is amazing. Skrall is eh. I'd probably suggest Strakk. It depends on how much you disliked Krika's head wobble. Cuz he has a very similar problem. :\ Vorox if it bugged you a lot, and don't mind blue pegs. Tan <3. Which is like the first sentence I have ever used <3 in on the internet. So yeah. Serious business. I cannot call. I'd probably get... Vorox I think. Not sure tho
Bundalings Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Eh, my Strakk's head doesn't wobble. It's held tight by the friction of the ball in the pin socket. ~Bunda
Can Calyx Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I think I'll grab Vorox. Tan, new armor, and the skull-like Mask really get me excited. Seeing as I already own Gresh, Tarix, and Malum, I need another villain set to balance things out. However, Strakk has new weapons, along with neat armor. Skrall will have to wait. New weapons, but the build is ugly.

Having bought Bionicle sets since their first release, I guess the good/bad distinction's just become ingrained.
Brickthing Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Having bought Bionicle sets since their first release, I guess the good/bad distinction's just become ingrained. True, but in the Glatorian line there isn't as much of a clear cut good/bad distinction. Gresh and Tarix seem to be good, but mainly only to their tribes, Strakk is only good for money, whilst Malum is an exile with intentions that are not nessescarily bad, Vorox are just animals and Skrall are bad to other Bara Magnians for reasons that seem good to them. So none of them are really "bad", because it's all a matter of perspective to them.
The Alchemyst Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Yea, I see Vorox as more of a Neutral tribe. And also the Skrall, Tuma is the only bad guy... And the Bone Hunters, they're just rude. :P But I do know what you mean by Good-Bad evening out. My 08 collection drastically needed some Makuta, so I almost went to buy one. Then I realized I didn't think Krika, Gorast and Chirox were good sets. But everytime I look at my collection Bitil, Vamprah and Antroz look so weak compared to Pohatu, Kopaka, Tahu, Onua, Takanuva and Rockoh. D: [-The Alchemyst-]
Bundalings Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Krika and Chirox are the best Makuta sets. Especially Chirox. And I have all but Bitil and Antroz. Both of those looked sucky. Chirox is just so regal and Krika is just so creepy. ~Bunda
~Wrack'n'Ruin~ Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 ..Eh? Regal? How does Chirox look Regal?
~Wrack'n'Ruin~ Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 In every way imaginable. ^_^~Bunda Explain.
Bundalings Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) um Tall and royal looking mask. Tall shoulders. um And the rest doesn't detract to it. To me he looks like some sort of vampire religious leader or something, with his tall hat and freaky shoulder tall things. I just really really like him. :3 ~Bunda Edit: lol fale explaination is fale going to bed now bai Edited January 18, 2009 by Bundalings
Brickthing Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Chirox is awesum because his arms are longer than Axalara T9. Seriously, go try it. Bad proportions ON!
Shakar Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) Chirox is awesum because his arms are longer than Axalara T9. Seriously, go try it.Bad proportions ON! hewkii9 Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 whilst Malum is an exile with intentions that are not nessescarily bad I'd like to see Malum redeem himself slowly over '09. Not 'oh i've seen teh light' Brutaka-style, but going through it all and eventually sparing someone to make up for trying to kill someone. And I don't actually own Chirox or Axalara, but Chirox's arms stretch out from what I've seen, to a point where they could be longer than Axalara.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 6) Speaking of odd stats, Tuma has the lowest mind stat out of any of the characters, sans the sand beasts and Atakus. This seems odd if he is the major villian of Bara Magna. Could he possibly...not be the major villian?6) I don't consider Tuma a great intellect, I consider him a survivor and a practical being. Cautious. Manipulative. But if you wanted to sit down with him and discuss great Bara Magnan philosophers or the science of the oasis, he probably couldn't do it. 8) Just to make absolutely certain, these shape-shifters that were decimating the Skrall, they were not Makuta right? 8) No, there are no Makuta anywhere on Bara Magna. Makuta exist inside the MU only, they were created by Mata Nui, not by the Great Beings. 9) Is Tuma really a bad guy, or is he just putting his people first and trying to protect them from these shape-shifters to the best of his ability? 9) Well, that's the point of the story. He is doing things which to the Agori seem evil, and which to many of us would too ... but he is doing it for reasons which he thinks are legitimate. He could have just gone to the Agori and said, "Hey, there's these real bad guys, let's all unite and share resources..." but that's not the Skrall way of doing things. First novel title is "Raid on Vulcanus." I don't have an exact date of release, but I think it is late spring, early summer. The second book will be a movie novelization and be out in late fall. Random 2009 stuff. 'The Science of the Oasis' would be a perfect guidebook title. xD -Ikk
Shakar Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I own Chirox, and I had the chance to get an hold of the Axalara in a toyshop where it was exposed out of the box. When stretched, Chirox's arms are as tall as Icarax (just tried it, BTW), who is much smaller than T9. Shakar
VBBN Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 He would probably kill you. XD For anyone who has Strakk, how does his shoulder armor look?
Hydrobius Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) He would probably kill you. XDFor anyone who has Strakk, how does his shoulder armor look? On their own? Incredible. While on him? Eh... depends. From some angles, it looks great, but in others... you might want to modify it somehow so it's on the sides of his shoulders, not the front. Overall, though, I'm happy with them, seeing how good they look, IMO. =) Edit: Looking at Ikki's post, Greg basically said that those shapeshifters ARE GB-created. Isn't that new, considering that he said that the Glatorian/Agori aren't? (I think) Edited January 18, 2009 by Hydrobius
VBBN Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Thanks. To me it looked like they would suck on the backside.

(I think) I think he was just emphasizing that since the Makuta were created by Mata Nui, there is no way they could exist anywhere but within him. But at this point, either way remains possible for the shapeshifters. -Ikk Edited January 18, 2009 by Ikki o' Moopyville
Illari Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) Back on the topic of vehicles, Kaxium has grown on me. It has the most solid construction of the vehicles, and the color scheme is better than some. Only three main colors and no random mata red (or something) thrown in. It was mainly just the odd shape that put me away from it in the first place, but it'll propably look better when the vehicles are seperated. Also the figures are blue, you can clearly see blue hands and a blue av-toran arm. Edited January 18, 2009 by Illari
Sidorak The Hunter Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I've just looked at all the summer sets and like nearly all of them. The only one I'm not sure about is Thornatus V9. I know these are preliminary pictures, and will wait until the February ToyFair (and maybe even until they're on display in my LEGO store) to make judgment, though. I also agree with whoever said that Skopio is a cool set, but would like to see it in a color other than red. -Sidorak-
