The more recent closing was caused by people going off-topic too much, even after the topic got renamed into The Official Greg Dialogue topic. Pencoin's closing was halfway through last year, and was caused by him posting spoilers under the username of Zesk.

On another subject, I just discovered the purpose of clone-brands like MegaBloks! They're made so you can tell on online auctions if the person selling has any idea of the worth of their LEGO! If the person has clone-brands mixed in, then you're likely more likely to get good deals, because the seller doesn't know about rarer pieces that could be in the mix, and it looks like a box of miss-matched junk to the eyes of a casual bidder. Also, the clone-brands make it more fun to sort out the pieces once you get them!

From my most recent auction, I just scored Lewa, Kopaka, Gali, 2 Bohrok, 2 Rahkshi and 13.5 Mctoran, as well as some normal LEGO and some other stuff all for the equvilent of around $20 USD! :classic:

:oh3:

And I thought I was fortunate to get just one Mctoran in a small lot of used bricks....

Here's the synopsis I typed up for BS01:

During a practice fight with Tarix, Gresh attempts a spinning counter and Thornax launcher move, only to have it countered by Tarix. Tarix tells Gresh that he relies on the same moves too much, and needs to come up with something better. Overhearing the conversation, Berix shows Gresh a fragment of a book he found in the desert, with the name "Certavus" on it. Recognizing it as part of the Book of Certavus, Gresh strikes a deal with the Agori, agreeing to protect him while he searches for other useful fragments in exchange for being shown the location of the piece of parchment he found. The two journey into the wastelands, searching for the book. Along the way, the duo encounters a pack of Vorox, which Gresh manages to stave off temporarily. Knowing the only way to defeat the Vorox is with a new move, Gresh and Berix head to the ruins of an old arena, which is littered with old practice dummies and rusting pieces of metal. As they are looking around, Vorox tunnels its way in, attacking Gresh. Berix leaps from the rafters of the arena, inadvertently scaring the Vorox off with one of the practice dummies. Seeing the Vorox's reaction, Gresh formulates a plan, setting up several dummies on the roof of the structure. At sunrise, the Vorox attempt to break through the fortifications and invade the arena. Berix and Gresh, however, make the dummies move and shake, and create threating sound effects. Confused and frightened, the Vorox eventually retreat. As they are leaving the arena, Berix stumbles upon the Book of Certavus, and offers it to Gresh. Gresh refuses the book, having realized what Certavus would say all along; to fight with brains, and not brawn.

SoC sounds good. I like how Bionicle started to have all these cool little side stories this year, that actually feel like an important part of the story unlike last year's serials. Aand EotS 2 is up. It keeps up with the same level of the first part, though this part is mainly just a one big battle. But anyways it's well written and enjoyable.

I loved this one.

The writing was unusually good, as well. I like the relative lack of dialogue in this- I've always liked Greg's writing best when the dialogue is simpler and sparser, like in the children's books and the first two years of comics. It makes the whole tone a lot more epic and legendary.

And poor Vorox.

The lack of dialogue always makes Greg's writing better. Because his dialogue has always been terrible.

Yet completely true. The most laughable moments of Bionicle history tend to have something to do with Greg's dialogue.

EDIT: I read the update. It was pretty good, but I find it hard to believe that Malum would simply stand in one place and let the rock avalanche pile on top of him once he noticed the Skrall were charging right for him. That bothered me, because I like Malum so much, but I won't deny that it was a step up from what we've been getting.

Just to comment some more on Greg's amazing new serial chapter, this is totally what I want to have going for all future instalments. The chapter length is normal, but it only covers the small fight and Malum being captured, and we learn just about nothing new to put on BS01. That is how I like it, because the result is a chapter that details way more into the emotions and thoughts involved in the event, and it doesn't feel like 10 trivial information bits were just squashed in here and there because BZP wanted them in.

IMO, Greg's break from BZP is what made this chapter so awesome, because he's probably had a lot more time to make it perfect, and didn't have all those many BZPer suggestions to try and fit in. Plus, being able to work with only three characters is good as well.

The only problem I noticed with this chapter is that Vorox fell into the stereotypical and cliché weakness of non-individual enemies - the more Vorox there are, the weaker each individual becomes. In arena fights and in the first comic, the Vorox seem to be formidable opponents, yet in this chapter, when the Skrall were facing around 75 Vorox, they took them all down with minimal effort.

Skrall are way stronger than normal Glatorian though, and they were mounted. Plus, they still almost got their megablocks beat by the Vorox.
