Sorry if this has been mentioned before but:

Am i the only one who thinks the fingers are a step back? I really detest them, they remove the 'feel' of the original Bionicle--they look so Knights Kingdom 2 instead of technic...

Anyway, I'll probably end up buying one :sceptic:

I agree. But I will need to have one to judge that.

Okay, here we go, my opinionz...

Skrall: Great color scheme, luff the head and torso. The shield is a nice touch and the swords are cool (but a bit overused). 9.5/10, basically the perfect set, I'm so buying it even if it's $15.

Gresh: I'm getting a little sick of lime by now. I love, however, the overall "feel" of this set. I just wonder what his shield/swords are supposed to be. 7/10, I may not buy it, but has a nice design.

Tarix: Megablocks anyone? This set is crap. Pieces are just plopped together. I just hope it ain't female, because those are some sad breasts. :P 5/10, never gonna get this set.

Strakk: Well, he's an evil snowman. Woot! But, he reminds me too much of Megablocks, especially the "icey" pieces. The torso looks cool, I just hope it doesn't flop. But I am looking forward to the return of blue eyes! 7.5/10, I may buy this one.

Vorox: Yay, a scorpion! This set could've used a little more thought and creativity, but it's okay. I like the new pieces here; very useful. Plus, tan is so full of WIN it makes me cry. 8/10, I'll deeply consider buying this one.

Malum: He doesn't even look evil, I hope he's not. Anyways, awesomesauce mask here. And I'm a huge fan of the bulky look. I wonder where his launcher connects... 9/10, I want this set almost as much as Skrall.

Oh, and new hands look kinda silly and Megablocky.

I'll review more later.

The topic had 2009 spoilers so I guess it was deleted. Whatever, it was an exact copy of Antrozek's post. XD

Probably. "Traduce" actually means to violate or betray someone. Not translate.

Following the front-paged news of a crystal-mining theme in 2009 was also this info on where Bionicle is going:

Elsewhere, the new Bionicle theme is Glatorian, with six ‘tribes’ based on different elements (fire, water, ice, rock, jungle and earth). The new line features a shootout action game to encourages social play. The range launches in January. Also added to the line-up are six smaller Bionicle figures, designed as an impulse purchase.

Confirms everything we thought I guess .

In other news the Mistaker are finally popping into stores near where I live, I've been hiding them behind the Phantoka.

I wonder if next year will be the year I get every Bionicle Set (I did great in this year and last year had every winter set but I wasn't going to waste money on the summer sets).

Jungle? It's probably still Air, but if it isn't... let's just say I'd MUCH rather them get rid of Earth or Ice or some other totally worthless element.

the Glatorian haven't got masks, they got faces...i think

Nah, masks of power play a large role in 09.

Anyway, incredibly bored right now, so may as well post my "reviews" of the 09 sets.

Skrall: Like the body design, love the shield, hate the swords on the arms. 5/10

Gresh: Very cookie cutter, but makes cookie cutter look good. Love the use of the Nuparu and Gorast claws as armor. Love the bladed weapon. Love the "jungle" element, hopefully that means plantlife. My favorite. 9/10

Tarix: Color scheme is good(hence why I love Brutaka), weapons are awesomesauce, but the simple Inika shoulder armor on the chest makes it looks really empty. 4/10

Strakk: Finally, armor that looks representative of the figures element. Mask could do without the "mouth", but still looks good. New torso? Cool. Axe is cool. 7.5/10

Vorox: Tan, it hasn't been around since, when? Robo-riders? Love it. Mask and "tail" are awesome. Arm and leg armor look like they have a lot of potential. Hewkii blade? No. 7.5/10

Malum: Cool mask, weapons look very nice. Short and muscular design is meh. 6.5/10

"Matoran/Impulse": Kinda disappointing that they are just different colored Av-Matoran in terms of body, but the recolored parts are cool. Best new weapon is Metus's snowflake shield. Berix is best, Zesk is worst.

Tuma: Awesome. That is all 9.5/10

Fero & Skirmix: Cool "Rahi" design, standard "Matoran". 7/10

Overall: Life counter concept is...interesting. Hands are neutral for me. Want all of them though.

That is all.

I don't see why any of the elements are worthless. Jungle sounds spiffy, though!

EDIT: What page did I start?

Forty-two!

Ice and water should be the same thing, as well as stone/earth. That is why I count them as worthless.

Vorox: Tan, it hasn't been around since, when? Robo-riders? Love it.

Pohatu, Onewa, Huki, Hafu, Hafu, Hewkii, Pohatu Nuva, Pahrak, Pahrak Va...

Tan was present up to 2004. :classic:

Sorry, I meant Tan as a primary color, not secondary. Though I suppose with the matoran it was primary, but not for canister sets. :classic:

Yeah, Ice and Stone are pointless if you base the idea of elemental variation on material differences -- in Bionicle, elements are based on environments, though. :classic: That's why, while Ice is just really cold water, it is vastly different from Water in Bionicle. Ice is found in the mountains, in glaciers and on tundras, while water is associated with the rivers and oceans.

Same with Stone and Earth. Stone is in the deserts, the mountains, the canyonscapes... Earth dwells beneath the ground, in caves and tunnels. That's the reason Magnetism and Gravity and similar elements are awkward -- where do they dwell? In which natural regins can they be found?

I dunno if that's how it's seen officially, but that's my take on it. That would also make Jungle / Wood more similar to Air, which it is in Bionicle -- they both dwell in the same regions (though probably at different heights XD).

I'm gonna have to go with Ikki on this one. I've always associated the elements very much with their regions, so in my opinion Air is probably the easiest element to replace- It's color fits plants, they always live in plant-filled regions, etc.

Still, though, I'd like to keep air.

It would be cool if they were kinda like Piraka or Barraki, against each other almost as much as against the other team.

But with less YO YO GANGSTA.

Oh yes and I love the new usage of the torsos. <3
