I believe that he won them on BZP in that contest a few days back...

Contest? What contest?

Anyway, Bink knows not much than we do:

Hi Binkmeister,

I've recently been given a link to three Ebay auctions that are selling prototype pieces such as a Gunmetal/Silver Krika head and a Silver Adapted Miru Nuva. The seller is asking for quite high prices, and I find it quite a coincidence that they've appeared just after you revealed that you had your own prototype pieces to give away. What are you thoughts on the authenticity of these auctions?

Here are the links to them:

Looks like I'm not the only one going dumpster-diving. I don't know for sure they're authentic, but I'm not the only one to have access to these elements. So they could be authentic, but I wouldn't recommend bidding. The price is very high, and I don't see the collector value in them.

Thanks. :)

I was wondering also about the particular parts that there are, and if they'd be made like that. The Krika head has it's secondary colour at the tip of the head, while the normal piece has the secondary red inside the piece and all throughout. Did the prototype co-injection pieces that you have/saw vary this much from the final design in terms of where the secondary colour is mainly?

Thanks again,

Onuta Nuva

Coinjection tests are all different, so it's hard to comment based on small pictures.

Oh my god, I just saw the new Bionicle trailer.

WHAT. THE. SHIT.

Nothing about that looked good. The animation looked like a videogame cutscene, the announcer sounded like he was from Cartoon Network, the sound effects sounded like they were taken from Flashkit.net, and the whole concept was just totally unimpressive.

Now I have to wait for my eyes to stop bleeding... at least I know I won't be wasting any time and money on this movie.

IMO, the space scenery was good, although the explosion and narrator were hard to like.

He is kidding, right?

I can't tell if it's painted or not....if it is, then it's such a rip off!!! If it's molded like that, I don't know....a bit too pricey??

But then again, if it's like that originally, then it does look good for MOCs....

We need Bink's word on this. They could be authentic, but they seem like fakes taking advantage on the fact that BZP knows that Bink has prototype pieces.

Hello Greg. Since you are probably being bombarded with questions, I will make this short and to the point.

Who is the female canister set? If you cannot answer that, then can you answer if its Kiina or not?

Thank you,

Mr.Happy

It is Kiina, yes.

Is this new?

Lol. Would you like it if your work was judged on a small glance people got at it? You saw 3 seconds of footage, maybe not even final material and you already write it off. Pretty pathetic. But fine, if you like doing that, be my guest. It is your loss, not mine. It's okay to be dissapointed, it's not okay to already doom the entire movie because of that. I'd say wait for a real trailer, with voices and the stuff, for that.

EDIT: for the record, I'm not sure myself what to think of the movie so far, but I wait for a trailer, a real trailer, before I make a real judgement on it.

That's like looking at a piece of dog shit and telling me I won't know I like it unless I try it. Every Bionicle movie thus far has sucked balls, and now that our first glimpse of the new one is utterly pathetic and disappointing I'm not about to shell out $20 for a minuscule chance of enjoying it at all. Unless a new trailer totally makes up for this garbage, which I seriously doubt, I'll be putting my money towards much better purposes.

If LEGO invested any effort at all into their movie, they'd try and make their "first glimpses" look something more than terrible. The cheesy announcer makes it clear that LEGO is just hoping to cash in on the 9-year-old Bionicle fanatics who can't tell a good movie from a hole in the ground.

Yes, I will watch the full trailer and judge that as well, but even if it's marginally improved I won't be buying this, because I can see that LEGO's not making this for people who take movies seriously. If they were, they'd market it for such people.

They are making the movie for fans of Bionicle, ages 9-12, as they always have been. Having looked over the teaser again, I must say I still am impressed with the scenery, though that may be because of its celestial setting, whereas the character design seems more or less lackluster. As others have said, it resembles more than anything a video game, though a good one, but it lacks the animation and liveliness of the original trilogy.

The thing I most miss, though, is the organics. I doubt Mata Nui will differ much in design from the other characters of the film, which is a bummer, since now more than ever the beings should be shown with organic parts. This looks like an animated toy. =|

Gee, you're acting like it's a movie made for kids.

Oh, wait a second…

Nice, allow me to give you another example of such prejudice: I barely need to glance at your username and I already know your post will be another overly negative, pessimistic attack on LEGO's doing with Bionicle. You could write 10 000 very intelligent posts, the best ever made, that are well worth reading, that everybody SHOULD read, I'd still wouldn't read them because all your posts so far I've read sucked balls and were pretty rude to downright insulting. Would you like your work to be ignored like that because of what you did before? Wait, don't answer that. Of course you would. After all, I'm only one person. But multiply me by a million, would you still like it? Yeah, you probably still would...

Oh, and let's also conveniently forget that there's a different team behind the movie this time, as well as the script and plot. It has to suck. IT HAS TO SUCK BECAUSE 30 SECONDS OF TEASER SUCKED DAMN IT! ^^

Yay.

I shouldn't let myself get carried away like that. But sheez, talk about pessimistic. And people say I'm constantly seeing the end of the world in every misfortune.

Stop this discussion and check the OGD!:

-Ackar was a Tournament winner some years ago.

-Stronius has a name because... Well, Greg can explain better:

7. Will we meet any other champions of the tournament? I know Tarix is confirmed as the previous winner, but will we learn any others?

8. As far as I can tell from other messages, the winter Skrall is a fairly common, or at least somewhat common, form of Skrall, whereas Stronius would be special, at least, he earned a name. His body type, can you tell us anything about how important he is? Like, would he, or anyone of that body type, be in Roxtus commonly?

7) Ackar had been a champion in past years.

8) Yes. Stronius is part of a Skrall class that would be the equivalent of "special forces" who showed great heroism in battle, hence his having a name.

Credit goes to Koji on BZP.

Yep... thus why I won't be buying it! :oh3:

I DO realize this was made for kids, but since I am NOT a kid, I would naturally not enjoy this movie, yes? I was hoping it would have some elements in it I could enjoy, but alas, that looks doubtful.

And allow me to illustrate an important difference between forum posts and movies...

1. Movies are always intended to sell, meaning they'll always contain themes the maker believes will sell well.

2. LEGO HASN'T made 10,000 very good movies, or any for that matter. It's not like I'm just not paying attention to the good stuff; it just DOESN'T EXIST.

3. You don't loose $20 or more by reading a forum post.

4. Forum posts don't have teaser trailers.

Your analogy is more than flawed, I'm afraid.

In any case I will agree that judging a whole movie based on 30 seconds of footage isn't really fair, but we can already see from the teaser that the animation is sub-par, the theme is cartoony, and the dialogue is cheesy. All of these issues were what dragged the first 3 movies down. I think the likelihood of this moving sucking megablocks is high enough for me to skip it completely.

You are kidding, right?

You're saying the dialogue will be cheesy... based on a teaser which has no dialogue?

And yours was soooooo much better, clearly.

You don't need to eat dog shit to know that it's dog shit. However, a minute-long video showing the Ignika crashing into the ground and then Mata Nui standing up isn't even close to the whole film.

Uh…

the theme is cartoony

Teaser trailers don't usually have themes.

and the dialogue is cheesy

Oh ya, Mata Nui was just chatting it up, wasn't he? :hmpf:

My point is you don't always have to try something when you know you won't like it.

Teaser trailers don't usually have themes.

Of course they do. The new Transformers Teaser has a theme of chaos, evil, and destruction. It gives a good sense of what the movie will be like. This teaser gives a sense of cheesiness, bad animation, and poor writing. What should this tell us?

Oh ya, Mata Nui was just chatting it up, wasn't he?

I mean the narrator. I guess that isn't technically dialogue, but that's still writing.

What's cheesy about it? What's poorly written about it? It's a freaking teaser, not a plot synopsis.

So judging by the Glatorian commercial, the comics must be absolutely horrible.
