I mean the narrator. I guess that isn't technically dialogue, but that's still writing.

Writing that probably wasn't written by the actual script writers.

You have to remember that none of this stuff has been written by Greg, so you have to hold it to a different standard. Since Greg's written a bunch of books and has a steady editor job, I'd just assume that his work would be better than some unknown screenwriter.

But how do you know you won't like it if you haven't tried it?

See previous example.

What's cheesy about it? What's poorly written about it? It's a freaking teaser, not a plot synopsis.

I don't know if I can really prove to you that it's cheesy, but if you don't think it is, then I invite you to watch more movies.

So judging by the Glatorian commercial, the comics must be absolutely horrible.

What? No. Commercials are not advertising the comics. They don't give a "taste" of them at all.

What, the dog shit? Sure, great example. Except you likely have "tasted" it before.

A mask crash-landing and a guy standing up isn't much of a "taste" either. No other characters are shown. All the scenery that's shown in a small section of desert. Nobody had any speaking roles.

Your arguments are contradicting, yet you are both saying the movie is gonna suck, yet you're not going to let the other's opinion be swayed by 30 seconds.

Also it will fale because the new sets are supposedly MORE organic than the older sets and now have NO organic-ness in the movie. >>

And I can't even follow the new storyline. Could someone explain to me the whole things about Spherus Magna, Bara Magna, the UDD Map and this endless ocean planet? Apparently the UDD symbol is now the map of the entire universe. ><

Over 100,000 years ago, Spherus Magna was the homeworld of the Great Beings and the Paradise mentioned in the original legends. From inside the planet a portion of Energized Protodermis leaked out, causing the native Agori to fare war over it while the EP was slowly breaking apart the planet. The GBs saw this and created Mata Nui to somehow stop or undo it.

Then came the Shattering, an event in which Spherus Magna split into Bara Magna, two moons, and supposedly the two crescent rings orbiting it: together these form the UDD symbol, which serve as a map of this system and a reminder of what happened.

'tis all we know so far. =P The Endless Ocean Planet remains a mystery.

The EO Planet isn't part of the UDD probably so chances are its just a random planet Mata-Nui had the poor misfortune to crash on when the Makuta put him to sleep.

True the chances of it being part of the UDD symbol are fairly equal but for one Greg says it takes Mata-Nui a couple of month to hit Bara-Magna but if the way the Bionicle law of physics are close enough to real physics(not bloody likely :hmpf_bad: ) then it would have only took a week tops to get there .

If it was part of the UDD map which makes me think the EO planet Isn't part of the UDD map but close enough for Mata-Nui to get-there.

Oh, quite mature. Are we in third grade now? Excuse me while I mop the apple sauce off of my bib.

What makes you think I don't watch movies? The fact that I'm not judging a movie by its teaser? If so, I invite you to open your freaking mind.

As I stated in the very sentence you quoted, the fact that you don't think the trailer is cheesy makes me think you don't have a very good frame of reference. Maybe you ought to be more open to the idea that Bionicle can be, at times, very cheesy.

...being cheesy wouldn't even be a bad thing if Bionicle wasn't trying so hard to be taken seriously.

A mask crash-landing and a guy standing up isn't much of a "taste" either. No other characters are shown. All the scenery that's shown in a small section of desert. Nobody had any speaking roles.

Um, yes it does, because the trailer is actually a sample of the movie itself, whereas you compared two things that having nothing to do with each other. I can tell you don't understand my position.

I'll try to clear it up.

I DON'T think that a 30-second trailer is telling of all the aspects of the movie. I DO think it is very telling of the direction the movie is headed. The trailer is giving off vibes of cheesy, poorly animated action with a rather cartoony mood. It could have, alternatively, given off vibes of a dark, desolate new world full of atmosphere and bizarre creatures. It could have showcased various desert vehicles attacking each other in an intense action sequence. Instead it chose to come off as a Cartoon Network premiere, focusing on the arrival to Mata-Nui. This tells me that LEGO is making the movie with a cartoony mood rather than a desolate or intense one. On top of that, the animation was quite bad, telling me that I shouldn't expect any huge technological leap over the other movies. On top of THAT, the narrator was corny as hell, telling me that no particular care was put into at least SOME aspects of the script.

A good comparison is the new Space Police line. At first, we Space fans had no idea what to expect. Then low-quality scans of one of the sets arrived. This was just one set, and it wasn't a very good look to be sure. But we still had a wealth of new expectations as a result. Why? We saw that there would be alien and police vehicles, we saw the color schemes, we saw some of the aliens, and we got a general impression of what the "mood" would be. Same thing applies here. It may be only a taste of the film, but it's still very telling of the film's "mood", and it is the exact opposite of what I was hoping for, meaning that I will likely take my business elsewhere.

Why don't you both just shut up and wait until the movie comes out.

First of all, the script writers have nothing to do the with the script or narrator of the teaser. Why? Because Universal almost always use the same freaking narrator for their direct to dvd movies. Now, we are in February. The animation of could range from being tested, to being completely finished. We never know. BTW, this is a TEASER. It's not gonna have major battle scenes, vehicles, or creatures. The Ignika arriving on Bara Magna is a pretty good scene for it to be a teaser. So how is a mask arriving on a planet cheesy?

Not trying to be an a**hole, just kinda saying. XP

As for the writing, it just shows a general lack of care for the storytelling. I've seen many trailers with better narration than that. But you're right the scriptwriters were probably not involved with that bit. The animation for the entire film is probably not finished yet, no, but the stuff they put in an official teaser is probably as good looking as they can make it. Which is a very bad sign.

I've seen teasers with battle scenes, vehicles, and creatures, just not much of them. Teasers do set the mood for films and it's usually quite telling of what the film will be like. It's always possible, I suppose, that this is just a REALLY bad teaser, but somehow I don't think that's likely.

You're telling me you didn't expect this to be a cartoony movie?

It's a goddamn direct to DVD production by Lego and a company called Tinseltoon.

The only good thing is that there is no way the animation in it is any worse then the pathetic offerings of the last three titles.

I guess I was just hoping for higher production values than that.

What part of shut up do you not understand? No one cares how good the movie is now, because no one has any idea what it's going to be like! Now be a good little friek and go back to discussing the 2009 sets! You to Bfahome!

Kindly take your obsession with control somewhere where people aren't allowed to discuss new developments in a series they are fond of.

Fine, I'll ask nicely. Please refrain from your discussion of the content of the movie so we may continue our review of the Toy Fair photos.

I'm not stopping you from talking about the Toy Fair. I simply expressed disappointment with the new trailer (that was shown at the Toy Fair, I might add) and was promptly attacked for it. I can see you're new to Eurobricks, so realize that people are allowed to go off topic here (and this isn't even that off topic). Familiarize yourself with the place before you go ordering people around.

You were not attacked. People asked you to stop argueing with Bfahome, and you didn't. This is what happens when you argue about something that you can't even prove.

And clearly it's not those people I am talking about, but Bfahome himself/herself. I realize I can't prove Bionicle 4 will suck, but I do maintain that this teaser is a very bad sign for people who were hoping for a drastic improvement over the first three movies.

Suckage is a matter of opinion anyway, which can't be technically proven. In fact most of the things discussed here can't be proven.
