---Vertea--- Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Yes, they weren't. Perhaps they are just the numbers foward. We haven't see the canister boxes yet! And we won't see any until about the time we were normally supposed to end up with leaked pics.
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Good estimations as to what kind of sets they are can be made from the way they're listed like on that list, so that's something. There's something so funny feeling about Mata Nui as a canister set, like he went to another world to observe a different race by mixing in with the lower class. If that's the case, that's kind of pretty awesome.

Wrinkledlion X Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Oh my God, guys. Big news. "Tuma" is the name of a Maori god.
Wrinkledlion X Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I have no idea how they they overlooked this... I mean, this can't be wholly unintentional... It's Maori, and we're not even using the same naming-scheme next year! What are the chances of a coincidence?
Wrinkledlion X Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Already sent it before I posted the discovery here. No need to fill up his inbox.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 HECK YEAH! Okay, I know this is gonna cause major trouble, but Tuma just became win. -Ikk
iLego94 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 hey, does anyone have a high-res pic of Tuma? I was able to find this high-res gallery, but it missing him. I would like a pic the same quality as the high-res gallery please. By the way, since Mata Nui is a great spirt, and he's a canister, we pretty much know that since Tuma is so much bigger he is a GB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~iLego94

maiq the liar Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Oh crap, there goes BZP.Wow, this could get lego in trouble again... Not good. Perhaps it's just a little joke, and a preliminary name? Part of me says its a little "Take THAT!" to the maori.
iLego94 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) I still think he is a GS or GB, GS is more likely though. When LEGO uses Maori words, they almost always use their true meaning. Also, this name could have been registered in 2001, prior to the lawsuit, and LEGO may have managed to keep the rights. ~iLego94 Edited September 1, 2008 by iLego94
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) And the weird part is that Greg has said no other being is as tall as Mata Nui...... Much more likely = Mata Nui gets a new body. Besides, Great Beings are waaaay smaller than Mata Nui. Tuma tuma yay... or however the song goes XD -Ikk Edited September 1, 2008 by Ikki o' Moopyville
VBBN Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 Quote Yes, I heard that. Regardless, the name got approved by our Legal team, so obviously they are not too concerned about it for whatever reason.

I bet Tuma is the new main villain of 2009. :P
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 "For whatever reason" -- they forgot 2001? Tuma's head looks like Nidhiki... and while it's not an overly awesome set, his name is great. Even if it brings Lego down. -Ikk

JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Aw, you guys keep saying there's new pics, but it's just the same ones on here. http://flickr.com/photos/29805279@N06/ I wonder what Kevin on Brickshelf gets from Lego for deleting images as they ask him to?
Dino_Bot Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 (edited) They look...strange. Seems this really IS my final year. Tuma Tuma yey looks awesome, so does the red dinosaur. The matoran looks f'ing ugly. There are definitely not the Bionicle we knew. I'm not saying this year's were, either...but you could still tell they were Bionicle. These are now...something else. Only Mata Nui will matter. Looks like these are all Great Beings...or...Saints? :D Edited September 2, 2008 by Dino_Bot
Wrinkledlion X Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Sorry, Greg, but I'll admit for the moment that I have seen the 2009 set-name-list. I probably shouldn't have, but I'm telling you this because I don't want LEGO to get in trouble again. So, uh... "Tuma" is the name of a Maori god. Just thought I should let you know if you didn't already... Unfortunately, probably too late to do anything about it -- voice recording is already done for the movie. But I will pass the info on.

~Wrack'n'Ruin~ Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Or maybe Lego really doesn't care anymore.
Strakk Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I personally think if Mata Nui is so big compared with the others, they have just to invent a storyline reason to make him smaller.
