Ikki o' Moopyville Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Damn, I love the multiple conflicts on Bara Magna. =D The Baterra remind me A LOT of the Others from Lost, which is a brilliant thing -- mysterious enemies are the most tantalizing. 'sides, names really rock this year. -Ikk
hewkii9 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Just wait until the third year or so of Bara Magna, when we're back to Xybzklak and Zockinius. I liked the chapter too, although I was hoping we'd get more lore stuff like the first chapter of it.
Brickthing Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 "Sand stalkers were not the fighters that rock steeds were" No kidding there! I wonder if these Baterra play an important part in the movie?
Rocketbilly Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Oh, how I wish for pictures of the Mata Nui Titan set. I'm begining to doubt it's existance...but..I have faith! Any news about it yet? Will/Rocketbilly
Icesaber Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Oh, I thought you meant new BIONICLE 4 pictures. I fail at acronyms sometimes. Spam post. On Topic: I think it's kind of strange how currently there are two contests going on for the official looks of two 2009 characters, when in previous years there were barely any such contests, and the ones that there were belonged to LEGO BrickMaster magazines. Greg must be feeling really nice. I hope someone can convince him to allow BZP to make a customisation/art contest for some unseen Kanohi such as the Hagah masks and Helryx's mask. Especially the Hagah, because they don't necessarily need to be what the mask always looks like anyway. Actually, that would be a pretty good idea. I just fear that some idiots will come up with an incredibly wacky design. Though there are a lot of talented artists on BZP. Hopefully they would enter. I liked the new chaptor of Empire of the Skrall. First named skrall, and a name for the shapeshifters. I'm guessing the Titan Mata Nui is a store exclusive, which means it won't be revealed until summer probably.
Bundalings Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 and a Skrall warriors bwuht Otherwise good chapter. ~Bunda
Phantoka_Chirox Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 bwuhtOtherwise good chapter. ~Bunda I was just gonna say that :P Bionicle cant get first grade material right
Brickthing Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I was just gonna say that :PBionicle cant get first grade material right Don't worry, it's just a typo. They've happened before in the serials, and this one will be fixed before we know it as well.
Zarkan Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Man, I was one of the few who thought all the serials last year were great, but MAN do the 2009 ones rock! As Ikki said, the names this year really rock, and it's great to see so many characters being introduced in just the first half of the year. Just wait until the third year or so of Bara Magna, when we're back to Xybzklak and Zockinius.I liked the chapter too, although I was hoping we'd get more lore stuff like the first chapter of it. I LOLed.

We fans aren't arguing among ourselves over the silliest things year -- for the first time in forever, almost everybody agree! I'll bring the tea... be a dear and make some cupcakes. -Ikk Edited April 14, 2009 by Ikki o' Moopyville
Brickthing Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 I'll bring the tea... be a dear and make some cupcakes.-Ikk I don't like tea. But cupcakes are fine. I hope we get to find out more about how the Baterra are invisible, like whether the phase out of visibility and tangibility, divert their enemies attention from them, or if they become invisible to see. I hope it's not the latter, because I'm sure that the Skrall would've been smart enough to throw sand in the air.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Well, you're in luck! From the OGD -- Neither. Works like this. You and a friend are walking through a forest. One of the trees is actually a shapeshifted baterra. It turns back into a baterra, attacks your friend. When you turn to see what's happening, it's a tree again, so it seems to have vanished. Have they been seen to shapeshift, or just appear and disappear like the one(s) in EotS? Appear and disappear. They don't shapeshift in front of you, would ruin the element of surprise. They do it behind you. You see them when you turn upon hearing a noise, just before they kill/severely wound you. -Ikk
Brickthing Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Ah, that's right. I was thinking their powers went along the lines of illusion, but it's actual physical shapeshifting. Has Greg said much on the limits of what they can shapeshift into? (such as inanimate objects or really big or small things)

No, in the example Greg gave he said they might become a tree, so I'm more concerned about whether they can be inanimate as well.

Like a rock, or a bush.
Zip Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) Hmm.... I'm guessing that the Baterra are like "ghosts or spirits" that can posses inanimate objects and make them animate? It's unclear, but explaining would take forever. Edited April 14, 2009 by Zip

It's unclear, but explaining would take forever. No, they're shapeshifter that can take the form of different things. On the BS01 page for the Ignika, it says Mata Nui can't access the power of the Ignika because he lacks the experience to use it. Is that correct? I would've thought that Mata Nui's superior mind that came from being the universe would at least allow him to use a Kanohi!
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Potentially he can use Kanohi better than anyone else, he just doesn't know how -- as he has no maskly experience. =P -Ikk

Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Our GS is doomed. Unless he learns how to fight. Well, Ackar will teach him something soon. And he'll become Glatorian champ in the movie.
Matsuoka Nui Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 The Makuta's Guide book is finally released!!! :classic: Did anyone get a copy yet???
Brickthing Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 So is there anything new about the English version of TMGTTU? On a different note, my BZP ST5 entry has given me some really weird statistics. As seen in this gallery, I made a wallpaper for each story year in 3 different sizes, and it's been interesting to see which wallpapers are most viewed. 2001 then 2008 are most looked at with the rest being comparatively ignored, and the most common screen-size that people pick is 1024x768. (The 2001 800x600 is an outlier because I uploaded it earlier for tests.) I don't know about you guys, but I find this really interesting.
