In the Bionicle team we just had the chance of opening the new summer cans, and building the sets. It is really great to see all the hard work resulting in finalized products, ready to hit the store shelves. I picked a Mata Nui box, as I've been doing the modelling of the mask and the new swords. The mask was kind of a less artistic job, as it is linked to the well known visual appearence of Mata Nui. The swords was a new design, and I think the designer of it did a great job, which only needed few adjustments from me to be ready for moulding. I think it's so cool that the set comes with four of these swords. Please correct me if the swords are actually an old revamped design (I'm not that much into the Bionicle story and the older sets).

Apart from building sets we saw the starting scenes of the movie, and had an ice cream. The technical quality of the renderings in the movie is to my likings :-) The ice cream was awesome too, and was consumed in Legoland :-)

Bionicle forever :-)

So you got the chance to build the Glatorian Legends and see quick movie sequences? Congrats man, I wish I could have done such a thing. The movie sequences you saw, I'm going to supose were basically Mata Nui crashing into Bara Magna. If you could tell us what was it more than one of us would be very thankful, for not saying all.

BTW, regarding your question: Yes, the swords are new molds. :classic:

Right, I kinda have difficulties believing you were in a team to product test. If you were, you just kinda violated your Non-Disclosure Agreement which I'm sure they asked you to sign.

As you can imagine, I'm having problems believing the story a bit. I do fully apologize in advance if you happen to have proof of this product test. -Swert

Well, I decided to both re-read it, and look up your history, found you seem to work on the actual team, but regardless it still seems like a NDA-breaking offense to tell us about it.

Still, I do apologize for the accusation that you didn't do it, because if this is the case, there would be no proof. -Swert

Thank's for clearing up my uncertainty about the weapon.

I'm not able to tell you anything about the actual scenes of the movie I saw. It is still confidential material, and I do believe strongly in keeping confidential material confidential.

I had the chance of building Stronius too. The black characters of 2009 are some of those I like the most, because they have that mean look. Stronius beat Skraal by an inch, and rivals Tuma. But that's just my personal view.

You will never see me leak any confidential material. As an employee it is actually very disapointing everytime confidential pictures or other material are to be found on the internet.

But telling Bionicle fans, and I am a Bionicle fan too, that I've built new sets that have been shown at toy fairs, watched scenes from a movie, and had an ice-cream with my colleages, is not violating any company policies.

And no hard feelings, I do understand your doubts

Which of the two would you recommend? Mata Nui or Stronius? And is Stronius' club two pieces?

Hmm, Mata Nui seems elegant where Stronius is all about brutal spikes. Not sure which one I would recommend. But I like black bricks in general.

If the club was in one piece, I think it would be hard to mould without having very large wall thickness in the material. The fact that his weapon is so different from the usual silver weapon we've seen for ages, makes him attractive in my opinion. And if not attractive, at least different. Aren't most weapons kind of 2D ? Well his club is a 3D weapon.

SWEET! And did you get a chance to see what Kiina's mask looks like finalized? Please tell me it's improved from the Toyfair version...

Oh, and many thanks, sir, for sharing this with us all. It'll certainly help get us started on deciding which sets to grab.

Whoa that serial was cool.

This icy region of Bara Magna actually reminds me more of Slizers than early BIONICLE.

I really like that aspect-it pulls up the old memories of REAL elemental conditions and that everything isn't happy-go-lucky. I like that this year the story is happening all over, instead of six heroes versus six villains in one elemental extreme with one object of desire. This year brings exploration and discovery as well as mystery back into the Bionicle equation. Also, new beings without powers.

Though I do like elemental attacks, I thought the Toa were just a little too powerful. On Bara Magna, the elements are a force to be reckoned with, and the stakes are far more realistic.

2009 rocks.

BTW-if I were to make a new signature, what Glatorian Legend(s) should I feature?

Well, I see all Bionicle elements during the developement process :classic:

I googled pictures and think I found some from the NY toy fair. The Kiina mask shown there is not a plastic mould, but a rapid-prototyped element, and I understand why you think it looks bad. I think the overall shape shown is more or less like the final version, but the surface is very rough on the mask shown in the toy fair, and the painting added does not really look like the final plastic piece which is a two coloured mould.

I had once compared Toa Ignika to Goku from DBZ because both of them had innocent personalities, a flying thing (Nimbus for Goku and that board for Iggy) and because I thought the Spirit Bomb sounded like something toa ignika could possibly do. In retrospect that was silly.

With that beetle however the first thing that comes to my mind for Toa Mata Nui/Ignika is Cream from Sonic The Hedgehog (for those who don't know, cream is a rabbit and she has this pet "chao" called 'cheese' who attacks at her command)

No I don't. I actually tried creating an account maybe 18 months ago, but I never recieved a confirmation e-mail.

I think the only guy I know from BZPower is Binkmeister, the site admin, and only because we have shared office for a year or more at work.

Well... I'm back. The dance went with a nice ending, and as my friend said, it was like a bad high school movie. I made Bionicle proud there, doing some robot Mata Nui dance. Breakdancing like the Great Spirit is tiring, that's all I can say. Vertea, if you want a full length summary on it, just ask.

Meanwhile... All I can say for Mata Nui is WOW. The animators worked their aft ends off on this one. The beetle looks cute, and Mata Nui looks like an innocent child. I can't believe I'm saying this, but this could be better than RotF.

It's a name from biology, I guess))

But yeah, scarabs played an important role in Egyptian mythology. But I'll be damned if I remember what role.

DEVASTATOR SHALL SUCK YOU INTO HIS TURBINE OF DEATH!

Now seriously, I just hope that the actual DVD movie is the pics quality. I mean, I would not withstand they showing us the trailers at HD while they're most likely not releasing a Blu-Ray.

The scarab was often used in Egyptian funeral art to represent renewal and ressurection.

It was also the head of the god Khepri a solar god who apparantly was what made the sun move.

What this has to do with Mata Nui or that beetle on his shoulder is beyond me if it even has anything to do with him.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, the Antroz test animation that Greg mentioned has been found. And MAN, is it sweet! :sweet:

Other than the music, I mean.

Already been reported couple of days ago... and somebody sent me the link to it via YouTube on Thursday. I have it somewhere nearby... yeah, there: http://www.savefile.com/files/2090134

I'd like to see the giant hunk of lard try that. If TLB is blu ray, then I can die.

New idea, guys.

I actually like the recent information on the Baterra and Red Star, but I think it was revealed too early. To prevent this from happening again, I'm just going to avoid the OGD. Then things that spoil the mystery like this will be revealed to me at the appropriate time, in the actual story.

WHO'S WITH ME

EDIT: Look at the frame of the film between Mata Nui's legs. Is that a weird-looking sword or what?
