Some of you may have heard of me, some may not have. Anyway, these are my thoughts. PARTS. The arms are kind of pathetic, though. I hope it has double neck articulation, as the neck looks too long in the pic.

But still, I gotta thank Lego for all the wonderful pieces we're getting there: the Gold Ignika, yellow Inika leg armour (squeee!), and many other pieces....for yellow lovers this set is a godsend. If it doesn't cost too much, I'll buy it. Yeah, lame set filled with fanservice. But still....guess we'll have to wait for better pics. I used to think pretty much the same about Icarax too. And I am SO happy that Telluris is orange! Orange Glatorian hands (Ackar deserves them, doesn't he?)+orange Metru legs+orange Kalmah armour= Still loving the Spikit head. Hope to find one at BL at a decent price. Shakar
Visorak-kal Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 First thing I'll say is prototype, so I'm not sure if those yellows will clash, or if in the final product they will be the same shade. It is possible that the prototype image is, like Umbra, underwhelming, whereas the final set may be considerably better. Design-wise, I spot three major issues: the head is too high above the body, the design of the arms and their armor is disappointing, and the upper legs (thighs) are too revealing in terms of pieces we see and armor we don't see. They CERTAINLY could have done a better job on those arms, if only to move them inward one peg; as it is, all the arms except for the connecting joints stick out. And that armor, in addition to being identical to the original set, does not do a very good job covering the larger arms. However, I must point out the excellent way that the upper body reflects the Toa-sized one-piece body armor with multiple pieces. I must also point out those FANTASTIC custom-built lower legs. Those are great, design-wise. The feet are also nicely done. The sword weapon is nice, liking the Ignika if it is gold, although I can't tell about the other weapon, too difficult to see. The hands, while a nice design by themselves, seem a tad small. The only major problem I can see is the openness of the design, showing all those pistons and not covering them well. I think a secondary color like black in some places would have been preferable to hide some of those pistons and additional joints. I expected yellow, and I expected similarity to the Toa set, I'm liking the design in several places, and strongly disliking it in others, so judgment will have to wait until I can see final pictures and determine if those yellows clash or if they are the same shade. (Or even if they are different shades, whether or not they actually clash). VK

And I noticed that Mata's hands are POSEABLE! that's kinda neat when you think on it. In fact, the set itself is a step forward from cookie-cutter design recently and is quite innovative despite various flaws. I think, though, that it will look pretty okay in person when it's posed right. And those pistons are supposed to be there. This is, I do believe, a robot form of him. Possibly made up of the remains of the failed GS and his BM body. Either way, he looks about thirty bucks which isn't too bad considering the treasures within. I can't say I'm too thrilled at the 2008 Ignika, but it's kinda the only way to have a proportionate head, and besides, this means we'll have two yellow/gold Ignikas this year-one for each form we decide. Refreshing!

I had gone to TRU and picked up Vezon/Fenrakk and then checked Target next door. Turns out they had a sale on Kardas that was the same price I paid for Vezon!!!! So Now I'm left without Axxon's axe and Brutaka's gold. shame on me...
Anton Gray Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I think there is still hope. I remember seeing that umbra and hating it, but when the final pictures came out, he was awesome. The set in person was great too. So there is still hope for Mata-Nui, but if all else fails, just mod him. That's the beauty of Lego, if a set comes out that has some flaws, just fix them. People seem to forget that and believe that have to keep him the way he is.

They may be, but compare them with all the silver pieces you can find in the page: the claws are pretty much the same colour. Really, I think they look darker due to the shadows. I doubt Lego would waste time and money recoloring such (relatively) minor pieces...especially when the set doesn't include any other gunmetal pieces whatsoever. I would definitely exclude black: if it were so, they wouldn't look so shiny. Yeah, I agree that the hands are pretty cool. Shakar

Nice other pieces too, and the entire set looks like what a 2001 titan would've been, had there been any. That's nice. Now, it'd be extremely ironic if the Ignika was Mata yellow and thus useless... They've very carefully distributed the Keetorange, Mata yellow, and the gold between pieces already existing in those colors -- half the Keetorange pieces can be found in the canister Mata Nui set, for instance, and the supposedly yellow Inika thighs appear to be the gold ones from Tarix. Look at his waist and see how sloppy and typical it is built. Right now the mask is the only good part, and is it just me, or is the tan titan dark tan?

Same with the Bitil wings and pretty much evert thing here, since I lack yellow almost entirely. I'm going to TRU to pick up some Glat. Legends-any pic requests?
