That is so weird...I haven't had a single broken part this year, whereas since 2004 I've had a few, with most of them in 2006 sets.

I broke some Lewa joints - built Spiriah too much - and Tanma's head - but that's 'cause he fell from the bookcase very top. Two meters, easily. But all other sets - even Mutran - are still intact, even when I'm always dragging'em with me.

That's the board game, right? I LOVE that board game, I'm so distressed I lost the instructions and am having to rely on foreign language versions and the BZPower review, neither of which makes playing the game easy. LEGO board games since then haven't been as good.

Lucky Americans >< you always have everything other countries don't(( We can order comics or books, but all these sweet thing like board games... :( I suggest this game can't be scanned, yeah?

I sincerely hope these 2009 sets are made of better materials than 2008.

This year so far, I bought 2 Gorast, 1 Bitil and 1 Krika.

I already have about 6 (mostly black) broken parts, all ball joint connectors, broken upon FIRST insertion!

>__<

I'm keeping those poor people over at the Lego replacement parts department quite busy...

I hate having all these broken joints. And my old ones have gotten to the age where they're wearing out as well, so joints are cracking left and right. ='/

By the way is Onua anygood? I might get him.

I like him. A pretty solid set, even though he isn't hunched anymore and he's wearing a Kraahkan.

Man, you're not Jokin'. My early 2000's white parts are a MESS.

I started a ziploc bag of all my broken parts. What a nightmare when you see it all together like that.

Don't even get me started on white parts that have turned amber.

These newer-shaped ball joint connections... so weak and terrible. I like that they look smoother, but the plastic quality needs to be WAY higher before they can do high-stress points which are THAT thin... and unfortunately their quality is in fact going down, sooo... YyyyeeeeEEEEeeeeEEEEeeeeesh.

Huh. All my Mistika had MUCH stronger plastic than my Phantoka. :/

I guess the problem stems from people who want to build (jeeze, what self-respecting LEGO fan wants to BUILD :hmpf: ) more than those who want to play with the sets more. Recently I haven't felt any desire to take apart my sets, so I haven't encountered a major joint breakage problem. I have enough old sets to last a little while longer. :)

ON the note of 09: so no new clearer pictures yet? bummer. It's already the middle of September! Why haven't we gotten the good pictures early yet?!

No, I'm talking FIRST insertion!

I had a bunch of black pieces from these sets just laying around, untouched. I was only using the colored pieces in mocs up until that point.

Then I stuck two together. *snap*

I turned the part around to use the ball connector on the other side. *snap*

In under 2 minutes, i had 6 broken parts, some with BOTH sides snapped!

I've never encountered anything like this before, except for the dark pearl gray (gunmetal) socket bars from one of the larger sets... ALL 4 of those broke. Some by putting them in once, other by taking it out... first try.

Yeah, same here. I think metallic parts are weaker in general. My Bohrok Kal sockets snapped a lot too.

I 've been lucky. No broken pieces nor have they broken. However I've had several sets with 1 - 6 pieces missing, or wrong ones in their place.

On the subject of 2009. Anyone found or heard anything about the cannister designs?

Huh? Im English and I got the board game from a local toy shop,.

'twas available in Scandinavia too, though without English instructions and story info. Now that wouldn't be so bad if the Danish translations didn't suck. xD Such as there being only one Tohunga and one Toa on the island of Mata Nui, due to the lack of plural forms...

Now the QFTM card game... THAT rocked.

Well, had we seen scans of the FULL pages with the leaked pics, they prolly would've shown the canisters like they did with the Phantoka.

I could scan the directions, but its so long (And I mean LONG!!) If you have ever tried to put the pieces together like they would go if it were a map, you realized that the Island is out of proportion :)

What do you mean? The boards do go together to make Mata nui (island).

I'm working on it. One of my local toy sellers knows me well, gave me Summer 2008 trade catalogue and promised to let me see 2009 one. It depends on when Russia get these catalogues, though. As I recall, in September'08, when I made those old photos of Phantoka, there was only one catalogue in the country, and it was in LEGO office.

I want to be British. Or Scandinavian, at last >_< When I see what online translators done with Ignition 13, I wanna live anywhere, only NOT in this country. Whatcha think 'bout "Mask of Time Multiplying"? I mean mathematical multiplying. And "Lua" instead of "Lewa"? And Gali, Gorast and Hahli as male? Arrrgh.

I don't think I want this game, though.)) It would be nice to see it, of course, but I'm not playing any board or card games now. One Munchkin party per moth, maybe...

Well, in the game they are meant to be randomly placed, as you go along. But, if you put them together in order, parts of Mata Nui are way out of wack

My Toa hali and toa lewa are permanatly in their canisters until I can find a way to repair the broken joints in my workshop.

Anyone else hear that we will be moving to ANOTHER artist next year. :hmpf:

Good. Leigh is... bleh. :sadnew:

I couldn't disagree more, but before we get into an argument (Everyone has different tastes, so arguing makes us sound like mr. you know who with his "details from the future"), I'm going to tell you that Greg said the new artist was hired because he can draw like Leigh, so I guess thats bad news for you

 Pretty bad news, yeah.

But I can see why you like his style, and if the majority of the fanbase does, I'm good with Lego stickin' to it. It's not terrible or anything, just bland. IMO. :classic:

Who is pat lee?

~iLego94

Patrick C.K. "Pat" Lee (ミチヤメノテヒ フナナ Michiyamenotehi Funana) is a Canadian artist. He was the president of Dreamwave Productions and drew some of their Transformers comics, until most of his employees noticed he wasn't paying them. Subsequently, he was also the president of Dream Engine until all its employees noticed he wasn't paying them either. He's currently the president (?) of Pat Lee Productions, where it remains to be seen if he notices he isn't paying himself.

His artwork fails at perspective.

LOL

This guy is hilarious on so many levels.

I love Leigh. I just want a different colorist next year...

Yeah, the bland color is the main reason I don't like the new comics. I even liked Sayger (2006) better. =P

And that's why the colorist will be the same next year, 'Cause LEGO people think that 2006-2007 comics were too dark for children. Shame, really, I'd prefer uncolored comics))

And while we're speaking about art... I drew Malum today. Think he look nice.
