Feuer Zug Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 I always enjoyed taking the train from York into London. Usually I went into King's Cross, then caught the Tube from there. My train shed modification to 75955 seemed to be missing something, so I decided to build a stylized version of King's Cross to attach to it. It includes the wall for the "Platform 9 and 3 quarters" trolley photos as well as a mix of the terminal area and some concourse features. I know it has nothing like the grand arching facade of the real King's Cross, but it does some elements. Overall, I believe it makes a good companion for my train shed. The station features a ticket booth in the middle, a coffee bar on one end, a newsstand on the other end, and a link to the Tube near the coffee. Additionally, the girl in the lower right connects up with the Platform 9 and 3 quarters trolley and wall that is now part of the train shed. The rubbish bins are backed by columns as well. Here we have King's Cross attached to the train shed. Note the skylights are easily removable for access to the station. Murdoch17 Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Nice work, I love it! It certainly evokes Kings Cross. (or at least what I've seen in pictures or documentaries.) Quote
Vilhelm22 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Loving those KX vibes there - it's a stunning station which is amazing every time I travel from it! Normally I'm going from St Pancras across the road, but KX is beautiful both inside and out. It's great you've incorporated the HP features such as the wall as well. Quote

The modern concourse side, not so much in my opinion. 1 hour ago, Vilhelm22 said: Loving those KX vibes there - it's a stunning station which is amazing every time I travel from it! Both stations have their own feel and are gorgeous. I did more travel through King's Cross because of where I was. I did take the Eurostar out of St Pancras once. King's Cross is open and more hustle, while I feel St Pancras is cozier and slower paced. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Very nice station, I like your story about "taking the train from York to London"! Quote
Dav1d Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Nice model of the station, but Kings Cross is a terminus, it would be better if the train shed were turned through 90 degrees. Quote

It was nice to make the journey while I was residing in England. I always enjoyed looking for the spot where the Mallard reached 124 mph. 5 hours ago, Dav1d said: Nice model of the station, but Kings Cross is a terminus, it would be better if the train shed were turned through 90 degrees. Thank you. I am quite aware that Kings Cross is a terminus. This is a grand extension for 75955. My layout is a loop with through trains running around, so swapping to a terminus wasn't going to work well. Additionally, the real Kings Cross is rather barren under the train shed. Thus, it's a "highly stylized" variant. Quote
