I'd say that sounds about right. City is usually among the last themes to get image reveals. So if not late November, definitely early December.

as i noticed, we get most of images in early december, but last time we got lego city images in november was 2021

2K drives.

What's that?

Because looking at the number of pieces on each set and the age rating, these sets seem to be bigger and therefore have more detail.

For me this is a downside. I've said many times the 90-s was the best era of lego, especially for Town series as the balance between simplicity and detailness was found then. Before that vehicles and buildinga were too primitive, after - too detalied,

I think the products released in 2023 this year are the best.

2k Drive is a lineup of custom car related sets that's based off of the video game of the same name. Some of those sets are sold under the City theme. Basically how Fast & Furious would look like in the Lego City universe.

For me, it's 2021 and 2022. As far as later years are concerned.

That's actually why I said 2022. 2021 also had a decent lineup for the winter wave.

2021 was a great year for city personally, as they finally focused more on the theme's values and made more realistic police, instead of weird nature variations of police. They also developed brand new subthemes and started creating more variety of animals. The road plates were also a nice addition, but to me I still prefer 2022

I forgot to mention about the fact of having a new police station every year and start making the most expensive sets as different buildings, too bad the hideout never made it.

Ikr! 2022 was a milestone in the theme as not only did we have a building to represent all three first responders (police station, fire dept., and a hospital), but we also had a school, grocery store, beach tower, bank, and a train station. Neither was oversaturated over the other. They co-existed with each other.

i saw image of new paper pack and i like this construction roller

It seems like most construction vehicles released by City now are either 4+ sets or paper packs/foil packs. Where is the full blown construction subtheme?

I agree - for years it always seemed City was the theme that never really saw new moulds. However, more recently we have started seeing new parts and pieces, particularly animal and food moulds. I hope this continues and we continue to see Lego City not afraid to evolve. This should result in more variety of trees and plant life, including more seasonal colours (e.g. not just standard green) and more minifigure variation. I'm also all in favour of sets that are based outside the City limits (more the world around us) and explore different continents and environments like forests, rainforests, outback, ocean... One thing that does annoy me is the lack of cutlery knives - we get a lot of forks and spoons but Lego seem reluctant to include a knife in case it gives the wrong message. It would just be nice to have a butter knife in the pearl silver colour as Lego Friends used to have these in other colours.

I think he is talking about how great Friends are while City sets are…basic. For example, organic market form freinds is much detailed than the grocery store set form City, take a look at shelves. Or how amazing the botanical garden set from Freinds while the park set is…simple.

I’m just so glad that City has some more new parts, animal molds, and colors.

It seems to me than Friends do not focus that much on animals anymore, but making some fantastic sets.
City are more focused on making animal moulds lately, not that their set was very interesting to me before either, so at least now I get a lot more useful parts out of the theme and buy more of the sets.
A reason could be that Friends have a higher age range than City, I guess a lot of kids move from City to other themes when they get older :shrug_oh_well:

Just saw the leak, here’s my opinions

first off, I HATE the new box art, the “space” branding is just so “in your face” that it’s hard to focus on the set. Sure, hidden side and vidiyo had similar problems, but I didn’t mind their box art. Looks like the aliens use a new body, really interested to see how that piece is used in the future!

The rover (fittingly) looks like a rejected mars mission set, and quite futuristic! To me the price will be the make it or break it to me!

US price is $40. I love the space branding but I'm biased. I'm feeling really good about this, probably the closest we will ever get to a new space theme for a while. Really excited to see the new suits and aliens up close.

So far we've seen two of the city space sets:

  • 60431 Space Rover with Aliens
  • 60433 Modular Space Station

No images of these yet:

  • 30663 Space Hoverbike
  • 60428 Space Mech
  • 60429 Space Asteroid Recovery
  • 60430 Spaceship
  • 60434 Space Base with Launch Pad

I find the 60431 ugly

Maybe because I'm not the target for the set

I hope the building will be robust to let the kids play with it without having to rebuild it every 5 minutes

I actually love that rover, using old space wheels in a different way, with a suspension that doesn't seem to raise it too much looks nice.

The classic space logo on the box and big space branding also seems to indicate this might be more then just 1 year tbh, as Stuntz is gone, there's room for other action sets.

I never liked the 2019 Rover and Shuttle, so I didn't get those, I loved the 2020 Creator Rover, and the City 2022 Rover was also nice for a near-future Moon vehicle, but this looks great as well, more like a fast vehicle able to go fast covering distance across rough terrain , powered by some internal sci-fi tech (maybe even those blue crystals), instead of being covered by solar. (Star Trek uses crystals in it's Warp engines as well, so it fits to think the crystal here could power teh vehicles as well)

I like the canopy shape as well, it's a good combination of angled and curved at the same time, and I don't mind that they chose trans-clear this time around (and the new orange as accent color is a decent stand-in for neon orange's hiatus)

I never had any of the 2000s space themes, but still trans-clear canopy, white vehicle, orange details, blue minifig, seems like a hybrid of Galaxy Squad and Mars Mission at first glance.

Also still has the collection/science aspect, with the side terrain build including crystals etc. so far doesn't seem to be about conflict unless there are some hidden shooters (and tbh, plenty of other themes have shooters already, even City Fire and the 2K drive trucks, so if kids wanted so, easy enough to add some to it)

I can’t wait to collect alien minifigures and that rover.

It looks like the aliens (at least the ones in this set) aren't minifigures, but rather a minifigure head on a hollow stud with the six-pointed crown from the Angry Birds theme attached underneath as tentacles/legs. Personally I like the aliens being non-humanoid.

Thanks for pointing out. I just don’t know what to call aliens if they are not miniigures but i agree that it’s nice to have a non-humanoid creature.

It’s Cleve of lego to use that Angry Bird piece.
