ok, then I won't put stickers. I try to make wall with bricks which look like a tile... I have that same dark orange bricks. 

This might sound weird BUT I try to combine Prison Island and Lion Knight's Castel... LEGOtraz... prison island in the middle of sea, rocks and old castle like prison complex. If DC makes amazing CARTOON like figures... I would not mind to send there even most famous super criminals... lets see.

I see bits of Alcatraz (as in the film "The Rock") and parts of Shawshank penitentiary (from the Shawshank Redemption) in this set. I bet there were lots of movie nights at LEGO HQ to get the source material right for these references.

In my head canon the older gent escaping is Sean Connery's character from the Rock and the younger one is Tim Robbins' character from Shawshank.

Also the shark is the light bluish grey version, seen only in the 2023 submarine before.

I have that Shark because I have whole CITY/Exploration subtheme (2023). It is perfect big dangerous shark.

- We have Sean Connery as Professor Henry Jones Senior... (I have also all those Indy sets) ... so you could use that head BUT is it that same character from The Rock... looks like a biker for me (Hells Angels).

- That woman with pink hair is a hacker.

- Woman with black short hair could be from Indiana Jones Kingdom of Crystal Skull. (from Ukraine but in Soviet army).

- That guy? We have to look history... do you know the story about Alcatraz - there are famous prisoners who have escaped from there, even in near history.

I have seen the Prison Island in person and I found it tiny for a 100€ set

But seeing the price of the last ridiculous police stations it's in line of their recent overpricing policy

Here in Finland starting price is 86 €... if you wait a little bit it goes down -20 % and the if wait more -40 % ... then it is a dream deal!

I will buy 10-20 set 8.1.2024 when these new sets arrive. They haven't arrived yet... next Monday :/ BUT there is outside -25 celsius, COLD!

I’m. Pretty sure this has been discussed before but i just saw the Sailboat set. Are these sails made out of single piece? And is it new? I do not like GWP Sailboat a few ears ago because I thought buildable sails were ugly.

It appears to be a single flexible plastic part like windsurfers have used since the 1990’s.

Yes, I think you are right that the one=piece sails are not seen since early 2000s. I’m pretty sure there was one “windsurfer” set from Arctic theme in that time period. 

I’m just glad to see the one-piece sails come back.

City had a surfer with  plastic sail in Beach People Pack in 2017, and a Sailboat as well, Friends had a Catamaran with plastic sail also in 2017.

More recently Friends had a Sailboat in 2022 with 2 cloth sails 41716: Stephanie's Sailing Adventure, and a plastic surf sail in 41710: Surfer Beach Fun from 2022, and 41681: Forest Camper Van and Sailboat from 2021.

The last time really big plastic sails were made, was in the Technic 42105: Catamaran from 2020, and 42074: Racing Yacht from 2018.

 

So there have been many sets with them long after 2000 Arctic, but mainly after 2017, and it's still 7 years ago since the last City sailboat, so the "come back" does apply to the City theme for sure.

Oh I completely forgot about Freinds sets. I’m not totally into Friends theme itself but I love that sailboat set. 

I think Eldorado has large cloth sail (i don’t own that one) last year. And Natural History Museum doesn’t have cloth pieces as banners but only solid plastic ones. 

I’m really interested in the Sailboat set becuase of how great it looks with that sails.

Monkie kid and Ninjago continue to use cloth and vinyl pieces for wings and mech skirts and stuff, so the part material are still seeing wide spread use. Just not particularly sail shaped.

Even the 4+ City Ambulance isn't terrible , not as nice as other years ambulances, but still a better 2024 set compared to the Friends ambulance (which cost $35/€35 which I take into account)

I would've gotten the ambulance sets, but the thing is......is that I don't like the colors as they are too specific to the ambulances found in the UK. At least with the red, white and blue look, it left more ends opened as far as imagination was concerned. I do still have the hospital building from 2022 as I adored that one.

I actually looked at the review for that set and I must say it actually doesn't look half bad. I may actually get it just for the sake of having a decent looking corrections facility in my town. This building looks just fine. The one from 2016 was good too. But this one just looks more realistic. You know, with the brown stilts to represent bricks. Like this is NOT supposed to be a place of luxury. This is a place where bad guys go. So I give it a 9.5/10.

That's amazing. I just looked through the instructions, and the three vehicle sets have no stickers (unless I missed them); the base has some but not on the vehicles. That's a huge improvement.

Because of this, I just built the space ship from 60434 while leaving the rest for later. In theory this makes it easier to buy a set just for the build(s) you want, and then resell the builds you don't want as new/sealed in baggies.

There is a good possibility to build middle section for prison island. Make it a big bigger. Maybe another cell. That outside area were prisoners are could be twice bigger. It would be nice to MOC this.

Realistically, since the prison island has a relatively flat back you could potentially buy two copies and reverse one of them, placing them back to back to double it in size and enclose the yard, cells, and caves/basement more realistically. Obviously if you were to do so you would probably want to make further modifications to reduce repetition/redundancy, but that would work as a good starting point.

It helps that the main build splits into 2 island sections, so extending it sideways certainly is an option as well, with 2 sets, keeping the open back configuration.

Well, people are doing MOC's ... just today I bought this MECH and build it. Already there is an updated version of it. I have now 3 of those space sets and WOU!!! that quality. It is even better than in images. It's sci-fi + aliens...

I will buy Sailboat and Burger Truk sets later. But first, I want to see Jungle subtheme first!
