TeriXeri Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 (edited) For the Car transport I definately can expect some 8 wide trailer as it allows a lot more cargo (unless it's race Karts, 6 wide cars need to fit), but I hope the truck design is at most 8 wide only via bumper or wheel arches (see Stuntz) , and otherwise just 6 wide 60282: Fire Command Unit , or 60313: Space Ride Amusement Truck were good examples how to keep trucks 6 wide. Yellow truck is probably 6 wide unless they really pack it with 6x6 pallets or something. As for Police command trucks, I don't mind 8 wide as much as they allow a lot more interior, and the 2024 truck looks fairly sleek (low profile wheel arches, no wheels sticking out, and the only other things are some tiles and a handle for a play feature hatch (could be left off for display)), and not nearly as crazy as some Friends truck/bus things at 10+ wide. Lion King Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 I could see yellow truck as 6 stude wide or 8. Quote

I reckon the yellow truck will also have a side build too, maybe a shop or something I also think that The Touring bus will be a modified version of the bus from 60200 just with more modern pieces Quote

(2024) , Tram (2024) 2018 Capital City : Tourist Bus (2024), Mobile Crane (2022+2024) , Hotel (2023) , Skate Park (2021 + 2023) 2020 Main Square : Park (2022) , Burger Stand (2024) , Tram (2024) 2021 Town Centre : Car Wash (2023), Pizzeria (2023) , Garbage Truck (2023) I left out the police, fire, small cars or tuktuk here as they have been in a few recent park/shop sets, the only vehicle that has not really re-appeared recently is a limo (main square 2020 last), would like to see one as a single set at one point , perhaps if City gets a pop star again, currently covered by Friends this year with sets featuring Ley-La, and Andrea's Mansion. And that's not even considering Friends, which has it's own share of parks, bakery stores/vehicles, pizza sets, stage sets, or skate park in recent years. Bike shops seem to be a recurring subject as well (in both City and Creator) but I think with the amount of bicycles , mountain bikes, and little electro scooters in sets recently (especially in sets like the Skate Park and Ski centre), easy enough to make a custom version for that , as simple as an interior swap on something like a 8x16 module from the 2023 appartment building. TeriXeri Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 (edited) Seems as usual some 2024 sets might retire at end of 2024, nothing final yet but still handy to have a heads up. https://www.brickfanatics.com/every-lego-set-retiring-this-year-and-beyond#retiring-city-sets fire 4+ bike / helicopter / airplane ambulance helicopter / 4+ ambulance space mech / large command rover 4+ race car sailboat crooks hideout Edited January 25, 2024 by TeriXeri Quote

It’s not exactly nomral. I mean the 2024 sets just got released on Jan 1st and now they are scheduled for Dec 31 (?) on the same year. I would understand that some of them might not be sold well. Take a look at a chicken co-op in 2022 - it lasted for 6 months becuase it was not sold very well. But it’s awfully early for 2024 sets. Quote

And sets like 60326: Picnic in the Park or 60394: ATV and Otter Habitat were super popular (even sold out for a while) and only lasted 1 year as well, it's not always good or bad sales. Not sure why 60398: Family House and Electric Car only was available 6 months tho. Edited January 26, 2024 by TeriXeri Quote
Mondo-TRON Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 (edited) I hope the two City Space sets that are listed for 2024, could last longer. I guess I need to prioritize getting the Command Rover and mech first. Edited January 26, 2024 by Mondo-TRON Quote

TeriXeri Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Again, none of those dates are final until closer to end of the year, I think most of those are "planned" end dates, and usually I consider things unofficial until like a site like Brickset sets an end date. Sets can be extended too. I mean, this Creator Dinosaur set has been around since 2017, to retire at the end of 2025 currently, far beyond it's original plan I think. (I've seen that set sold in a museum with dinosaur skeletons , so maybe that means more places sell that set across the world in places like that) Quote

DanOfBricks Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 (edited) Regarding: 60409 Yellow Mobile Construction Crane / 1116 Pieces / $109.99 60420 Yellow Construction Excavator / 633 Pieces / $49.99 I think both these sets have more to it than just a big mobile crane and excavator(I think this one will have tracks on it and not wheels like the 2 previous(one came with a transport truck and the other with a dump truck). The 60324 Mobile Crane from 2022 had 340 pieces and retailed for $40. The 7249 XXL Crane from 2005 had 524 pieces and retailed for $70. The 7905 Building Crane had 721 pieces and retailed for $70 as well. My guess is this yellow construction crane will be something similar to set 7633 Construction Site(it had a somewhat big mobile crane in the set) from 2009, which had 889 pieces and retailed for $100. The 7248 Digger from 2005, had 127 pieces and retailed for $20. The 4203 Excavator Transporter from 2012 had 305 pieces and retailed for $40. The 60075 Excavator and Truck from 2015 had 311 pieces and retailed for $50. I think this one comes with Dump Truck of some sort and I hope there is a new excavator bucket mold(that front loader bucket mold used was just wrong to use for an excavator). For both sets, it just doesn't make any sense on a LEGO City level for either of them to be standalone's with those piece counts of 1116 and 633. Edited January 26, 2024 by DanOfBricks Quote

None of all this dates were ever offical as far as I know. Lego communicates the end dates of those Sets with retailers and that is where those lists come from - I would guess for exclusive sets they get them from countrys where thoses sets are sold by Lego licensed shops. Sites like Brickset or some Lego-Blogs tend to post these lists like half an year before sets are going to retire, because at that point there are less changes to those data, although there are always some sets for that this dates still get changed. True, or some sets are sometimes sold after retirement date , the 2020 City Police Station was available on lego.com (Europe) until 1 September 2022 , 8 months after the 31-12-2021 retirement. BlueLanturnCorp Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I'm curious as to if the new Lab will be a building, or a mobile pod that can swap out with the others in the Jan wave. But given that $35 (Assuming USD not CAD) is usually around £25-£30, I'm not holding out hopes for anything amazing if it's a solo building. (300ish parts at a guess, maybe as high as 350.) Assuming if it's a building, they'll want a small vehicle or side build that's usually 35 ish parts, figures another 5-6 each there's nearly 50 parts on two figs and a buggy. Quote

The infos posted earlier in this thread said 560 Pieces actually ;). I would guess for a building, since a pod would be way to little and I think if it were a mobible lab with wheels using a pod or something they would have named it moblile science lab. A lab in space is also possible, though. If we are looking at the price and the pieces, it doesn´t seem to be including many big transparent windscreen-parts, which I would expect for a ground base in the end. Quote

It is probably going to include at least one module/pod, but I suspect that the main structure will be an extension of either the ground base, the space station, or both. It will definitely be modular (include the attachment airlock pieces), however, considering how that is the main gimmick of the subtheme. Quote
TeriXeri Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 (edited) I wonder if the high piece count from the lab , could come, perhaps it's built on top of some terrain plate "crater" with a lot of tiny pieces (cheese slopes and 1x1 tiles) , kind of like those 2023 Seasonal vignettes which were on a raised tiled base. Not like a cave, or a very high rock base of course, but perhaps just 2 bricks tall, like a bigger version of terrain seen in the rover set, but simple enough, as there are a lot of quarter round plates and bricks available now, and then filled with those dark orange bits and some plant/crystals. BlueLanturnCorp Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 It feels like they're testing the waters for a full Sci-Fi theme with the City Space theme. The £9 mech makes me think of Power Miners. The admiral/gold leader figure feels Solomon Blaze esque. The interstellar ship feels like a modern Space Police 5981, and the Jetpack feels like a sleeker 30141 from Alien Conquest. The base is the sort of thing you'd expect from a Sci-Fi in-house theme Quote
legolife Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 i wonder why there is no sets in march, i think that some space sets should be released by march Quote
