Hope all the animal moulds can be bought via Pick a Brick, in which case I'll only buy the small Red Panda set with Johnny Thunder and order the other animals individually, I said it once and I'll say it again, this is the best Alligator color scheme the company has given us. Not bad for a wave but I agree the last Jungle Wave out performed with the Temple Ruins as side builds, much more exciting than just the foliage and vehicles we're currently set to receive. Agreed. And I will buy the Meet the Gorilla Baby polybag too. I will leave feedback on these new products through Lego website. Vehciles are too moden for Johnny Thunder and jungle is too…empty for aniamls. El Garfio Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 I will buy the 30€ sets of the jungle tv van A tiger Johnny Thunder And 2 minifigs more Quote
Gumalca Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Looking at the new sets, I think it is safe to say that Lego has abandoned the road plates that were introduced in 2021. That's bad news for everybody who started to outfit their city with them. But I'm glad they are discontinued. I never liked them and refused to buy any set that contained them. Because they always increased the price of a set so much. I'm especially glad that the new jungle sets don't come with those stupid river road plates like 60302 and 60307 did. Quote

brimbolet Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Perhaps not as good as I had hoped for, but it's a good City summer wave. Bit disappointed that the ship does not float on water, the crane has no control room and there is no cargo truck. On the other hand the life style pictures show a much bigger boat than at first expected, so the box art seems to be very misleading. Agree with the others, that the jungle sets focus too much on vehicles instead on the natural surrounding. I might add that the connectivity between the various sets seems very random; it's not like a kid could build a bigger cave for an animal from more sets or an ancient ruin for Johnny to explore. Also seems to be a missed opportunity for posable legs on the gorilla. The tourist bus and the Creator house are also on my wanted list. Quote
Lion King Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Once the sets are available, it’s important that you submit your feedback instead of making fuss. It’s a good way for TLG to know that they are needed to make improvements for City and other themes. Quote

Sets being built on 8x8 and 8x16 modules seems to have stopped, as those 2023 sets (police academy, car wash, downtown, appartments, skate park, ice cream, ski ramp) are also all retiring at the end of this year, sets still use modules with pin connectors, just not of strict 8x8 and 8x16 2-thick plates (which needed at least 4-6 extra 1x4 plates or tiles to fill in the gaps) City certainly does not follow the same old patterns anymore, as trains also won't follow the old 4 year cycle , especially considering the 2018 cargo train is actually still in production, and the 2022 trains are possibly retiring in 2024 and 2025, and now there's the new tram set which is basicly an unmotorized train set. I am very torn on those road plates; while I hate that they increased prices and seemed to make the actual buildings in a set where they appeared less substantial, I do like the flexibility and ease-of-integration of the system when compared with the old baseplate road plates. IMO, LEGO should keep making them, but limit them designated ‘service packs’ like 60304 rather than cramming them into every City set. Quote

I love road plates becuase the are easy to change. I don’t like them becuase they are thicker than baseplate, not matching with Modular Building Coleciton. I only use the modern plates for dioramas. Oh yes that Baby Gorilla polybag is easily one of the best polybags of the year. Also hoping to see better images of the rollercoaster because it currently looks kind of unstable with those thin connections. But the exo force reference is certainly something to hype about. On that note please reboot exo force ! Quote

Agreed, though if there is one possible city set they should be in it should be a bridge. On the topic of the new sets, to those who are getting the tram, any plans to change the wheels to the smaller ones like the previous trams had? Quote

IMO, LEGO should keep making them, but limit them designated ‘service packs’ like 60304 rather than cramming them into every City set. This, exactly sell them seperately, like they have done with road baseplates, after sets stopped using road baseplates. Road Plate packs are still far better compared to some inbetween solutions LEGO had at the end of the road baseplates lifespan, like a few versions Xtra/City/Friends cardboard roads or even road TAPE, which really should not return. As for the studded "road" plates, they had not appeared this year yet until the recent reveal of the 4+ 42636: Heartlake City Preschool , which seems to have 2 8x16 in Tan (42632: Farm Animal Vet Clinic from this year used the old 2014 style 8x8 with less studs and a 1x4 extension) After all, LEGO seems to be focused on making a lot of sets "displayable" adding like rounded plates at the outer edges, or putting things at angles, instead of sticking to a strict grid, and I don't think they want to be stuck with the same format for too long, as it seems themes like 3-in-1, Friends, and even Harry Potter , change their "modules" every few years. The only place LEGO really is "stuck" on, would be the Modular building format being on baseplates, but since those are primarily large sets (over €200 nowadays) , I think they don't want to lose their large collector base by suddenly changing the format. I mean, they did change the size of Speed Champs after so many years, and designs like Hogwarts keeps changing scale , roof color and style, but that doesn't really compare to LEGO being locked-in "baseplate-height" for those long time Modulars. One thing that does affect City and Friends imo, is that too many of the sets feel like all standalone builds, not part as a greater whole, as so many curved plates over the years does not make it easier to make larger terrain / buildings out of it, and the amount of round stuff (mainly the huge amount of buildings/terrain on curved plates) feels less LEGO-like to me in recent years, the Jungle Terrain is a good example of this, LEGO has added clips to connect multiple sets, and they do allow more dynamic display with those clip hinges, but it seems mostly designed for looks , and display (huge contrast to the 2017 Jungle sets terrain, which still of course could be displayed, and the airplane wreck set had hinges , but square/rectangle plates make it easier to combine) . Of course LEGO had their combination buildings and most are still available in City right now, but for new sets, so far I could only see that 60423: Downtown Streetcar and Station remains compatibile with those, using 8 wide station sections and the technic pin connectors (and then City/Friends/Technic Space using those octagonal connector modules, but that's a different format) With the giant crane however, it would not surprise me to see a vertical focused build next year, but the "blueprints" included in the 2 construction sets suggest one is the 2024 Robo rollercoaster and the other the 2023 Ice Cream shop) Edited May 2, 2024 by TeriXeri Quote

mon-o-mat Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 I really want to like the Jungle sets, but somehow they really feel sterile compared to the bright orange ones. They are just missing all those accessoires and little details to really get the adventure and exploration feeling across. Quote

Just Jason and Mech Max are more just social media handles, while Bytz and Wanda About are indeed puns - A play on “bytes” for the tech guy and “wander about” for the explorer. 46 minutes ago, Izzynufc-2 said: Is the harbour likely to connect to 60417?
