@Lion King So dude, I just brought the 60380 Downtown set last week. There is also a strawberry piece included in the set that comes with the food cart piece.

Say what! Is it a recolored mold? I forgot what that piece is called… but it’s great to have a strawberry in Lego world!

It's a small round tile piece with a strawberry on it. It may not be a mold, but it's still a food piece, one that I actually think would be good. Especially for future sets.

On another note, didn't we just get a city-based space center in 2022? Ah well, I'm still curious to find out how it looks. Though the 60080 one from 2015 one can't be defeated, imo.

@The Brick Boss, ahhh thanks for clarifying. Nope, not really a mold. Just a printed 1x1 round tile. But it’s nice to have a printed strawberry piece!

I love that piece! It actually also came in the Spring Fun VIP Pack earlier this year iirc, I've been using them in some grocery/farm setups.

Spoiler

Alright, so Freya mcloud from Lego City adventures appears, so I’m definitely confused if Lego is truly done with LCA

Duke DeTain also cameoed in the first episode, so I am assuming that this takes place in the same universe as LCA.

Welp! Freya is back! You all know what to do. Anyhoo, I just realized that Bytes cameoed in the 60380 Downtown set. I guess it makes sense given that Mech is also in the custom car garage.

An another Easter egg is that they close the doubt if Wanda about was the street performer of Downtown, but not, because the street performer appears at the last episode as one of the citizen

I think 2024 City Space will be more Sci-fi, less NASA , since they mention mechs and aliens,  and i've also seen that space ship set be named "interstellar space ship" (probably different translations) , and there's a "Space Hoverbike" set as well.

And Friends is also going to space but mentions mars, so likely will be closer to Nasa space this time (Friends also already had a space shuttle so makes sense)

So that's what City has come to.....

I think if City is repeating subject like space so soon, 2022 sets are only just retiring when 2024 sets hit the market so there's probably even some overlap on shelves , so having them different is nice.

I'm sure if the Artemis Moon Landings are a success the next space subtheme after this likely will be Moon/Mars focused again.

I did like both 2019 and 2022 Space lineups (not all sets but most), but I do think there's room for some futuristic sets once in a while, especially with space-ish sets from Monkie Kid (spaceship/moon cakes), 3-in-1 (cyber drone) etc retiring as well.

Of course, pictures will say more , so right now it's just speculation.

Beside that, Looking forward for the design of Police/Prison and Fire station , to see if they incorporate the 8x8 and 8x16 modular design.

Would be nice if the prison island can integrate/connect to the 2023 Police academy office structure.

Where did you get info on the set names, such as Intrsellar space ship and space hover bike?

The hoverbike was mentioned here first:

30663 : Space Hoverbike

30664 : Police Off-Road Buggy Car

30665 : No information

As for the Interstellar Spaceship is called that way on Brickmerge and likely other sites too. With other sets having Aliens in it we can IMO be quite sure that that City wave will be more space than the other city space sets we had yet, which were pretty much based on nowadays space and not fantasy/future one

There are so many space related themes in different themes that it is hard to keep up lol. Especially since all of them got discussed in ten different threats or so ;). So far aside from from the remake/classic ones City ones are sounding most promising to me

Agreed. It’s easy for me to lose my track while there are so many Space-themed stuff around here and there.

Anyways, I don’t mind space sets that include aliens. I like collecting minifigures and molded creatures (fantasy, sci-fi, normal, etc).

Hmm it’ intersting that a tease from Lego uses road plates but it looks like this tease is more for Modular Building.

I doubt there will be actual road plates included with a new modular building, but those road plates still make a lot more sense compared to some custom roads, or retired road baseplates.

It looks more like an alternate using lots of parts from Assembly Square (built on a normal plate) as it uses a lot of the same pieces, even down the textured sandblue walls, yellow/white awnings and checkered 1x1 street tiles.

The main part that caught my eye is that no edge of a normal baseplate is visible.

Normally road plates and modulars are harder to combine due to a baseplate height not being compatible with a road plate height.

Overall I doubt that LEGO is retiring baseplates for modulars just to be more compatible with road plates, LEGO even still used a regular 32x32 baseplate for that new Harry Potter Gringotts set (so it's compatible with the Diagon Alley from 2020)

Agreed. Normal baseplates are popular for Modular Buidling while the plates are used for City, that’s a big difference. Of course, you can use normal baseplates (green, blue, gray). I found it strange to see the new road plates next to the modular building n that video but I don’t think it’s a tease video. I will be honest, I will ignore road plates and focus on modular buidlings (I’m a huge fan of Modular Buidlings more than City -  because enclosed buildings are what I needed). I find it odd to see Assembly Square in that video so the more I look at, the less convincing it is.  So I decided to not look into it too much. This video is intersting tho!

Oh, and Modular Buildings Collection is existing since 2007. If it’s. A new plate for a new modular building, it won’t look right next to other previous 18 modular buidlings.
