71046 CMF series 26: Space themed!

Man... Orion looks a little worse in the high quality image over the low-quality one - and he's about the only one I was really excited for. I'm not a fan of the hair, the club looks too smooth and almost looks like a water balloon or bag, and I don't like his goofy grin at all. What a shame...

Other than that... I think they mostly look okay. It's not really something that appeals to me overall, but I can see why other people would be excited. Retro Space Woman might now be my favorite (though that gun is a disgrace and I'll be giving her a cape), and I kind of like Nurse PIXAL and the UFO Costume Guy. But, for the most part, it's a miss for me.

There’s no way to attach that antenna, so it has to be a dual-moulded piece  You could try to cut it off, but that would leave an ugly mark

It's so unreal to me that they decided to get rid of trans neon orange and green while these were in the pipeline. What a colossal cock up. And now the three best figures don't have visors.

A cape would look great on that figure! I would love pink on the inside and yellow/gold on the outside.

What a weird looking Series. Nothing makes sense and it all looks like a parody for the once great sub-themes of Space. This clearly is not a tribute the fans wanted and deserved. I'll still buy the 12 because I collect all CMF's, but boy am I disappointed at this mess.

I totally understand your feelings. Castle fans were disappointed when there was suppsoed to be Basil the Bat Lord in Series 25 but he has been transformed into a vampire, known as “Vampire Knight”. 

However,  you are opposite of me, I’m not disappointed with “mess” at all. I think those characters are unique.

I'm a castle fan and love Basil the Vampire Bat Lord. It's a truly magnificent minifig where they went all in on the expenses. Even the cape is of a premium, new material. Besides, the head can be easily replaced. Here in S26 you'd have to change half of the figure and accessories to make it decent. Take Blacktron for instance... right leg swap not even possible, unless change to unprinted, right arm + head swap and needs new helmet too. Same goes for Ice Planet, it just isn't the same without neon orange visor and chainsaw.

Nah, I don’t need to change the half of these minifigures and thier accessories, I’m not just disappointed with this “mess” at all. I’m not a radical Space fan. I just love collecting all minifiures in every non-licensed CMF Series.

Is that EVA suit on the realistic astronaut a new, more accurate part? It’s so hard to tell – I really want to see her in the round. Hopefully with some people clearly finding these in the wild already she’ll show up in detailed pics on instagram soon.

I'm currently thinking about using the Pink Power Batgirl's cape - assuming the color is right - which should be fairly inexpensive. Otherwise, Lockheart's cape could also potentially work... Though that one is a lot more expensive.

Some thoughts

Orions torso would work great for Spartans or other warriors from that era. 

I like most of them and I have plenty of visors to use for the Mtron guy. 

 I think the antenna is separate from the hairpiece. 

also fun fact this is the third out of 26 series to not include a sword of some kind ( unless you consider the macuahuitl from series 21 as a sword) then series 2 is the only other one.

Its the third series to not include a fabric/cloth piece the others were series 6 and series 23.

If true, that would be disappointing. I was expecting it to be a removable accessory, like the recent reindeer antlers,. I had hoped to use it to make some custom robot figures.

I agree, the Vampire Knight figure set a high bar for CMF quality, which the retro figures in this series (M-Tron, Blacktron and Ice Planet) struggle to match. Including trans neon elements (in particular, visors) for these would better capture the retro-remake aesthetic and would take these figures from 'good' to 'great'.

The Orion figure has certainly lost some of its lustre in the latest photos. Is it using the hobbit hairpiece? 

My personal favorites of the series are the Retro Space Girl and the Robo-Cook.

Me, too! I was looking forward to that Orion minifig fitting into the Roman minifigs collection from past CMFs!

Granted, it could be removable, but I doubt they‘d introduce a new hairpiece so similar to the existing one, just with an accessory hole  Then again, they did just that with the Phase 2 Clonetrooper helmets

Good thing that the Blacktron 2 torso is useable for a normal (ie non mutant) minfig. But most of the rest of it would need to be replaced.

The Ice Planet helmet needed more orange on it. (Trans neon, ideally)

I never removed an arm from a minifigure before. There is indeed risk to break the torso ?
