Excellent! Thank you very much for that @Grover. The statistician and AFOL in me find this brilliant 😆

I agree that ideally, the n should be higher, and perhaps more importantly, as diverse as possible. Assuming that all CMFs are not produced in a single factory, there might be slight production differences across factories resulting in weight differences. A sufficiently diverse sample would de-risk the possibility of boxes from a certain factory being unrepresentative.

What would be phenomenal would be if someone created an online CMF S25 tool that estimated which CMF one had from its weight. The output would be a probability of it being each of the 12. For example, you enter 19.55g and the tool tells you there is a 87% chance of it being the Vampire Knight, an 8% chance of it being the Dog Groomer, a 4% chance of being the Goatherd and a combined 1% chance of it being being any other minifigure. If the tool asked the user for feedback. i.e. if its prediction was right each time and, if not, what the right prediction would have been, and gathered those data, the tool could be self-improving. I would create the tool myself but I just don't have the time. I bet such a tool would both impress and disgust the folks at LEGO 😂

Awesome!  Glad you like it.  It's funny how little response this analysis gets from various people I present it to, but then I hear them complain about how there's no way to tell the CMFs apart. :hmpf:

As for the online tool, I thought about it, but I think that allowing people to enter weights and see what it is would introduce a lot of error.  Since we are talking about a precision measurement to differentiate the figures, if someone didn't calibrate their scale properly, a kid intentionally enters erroneous data to be obnoxious, or a bot starts causing havoc... it'd be a mess.  On the other hand, I think that an online tool that gives you the % chance of what you're getting based on some quality, curated data, well, that would be helpful to folks.  I'd like to set up a thread on here for us to collaboratively share data so we can pool our numbers for better chances.  But that's me.  I'm also curious how long this will last before Lego changes to something else, because I bet that people are going to be ripping boxes apart on shelves like crazy just to find the goat!

The E-Sports Gamer's is wearing a shirt with what looks to be a modern version of the Black Falcons logo. I might pick that one up and make a Black Falcons Space figure with it.

Reminds me more of Jayko, actually

I tried weighing the Marvel CMF and the weights were all over the place and completely inconsistent. However, I had great results putting my phone torch light against one of the tiny holes in the bottom corner and then my eye up against the other to see inside. I got the couple that I wanted that way, and their weights were generally not anywhere near the expected weights.

I've ordered a cheap ($13) 3mm endoscope that will make it a lot easier. I have a 6mm one, which is too large to see inside, but 3mm should work perfectly without damaging the boxes at all.

Interesting to hear about the endoscope:sweet:

Scanned the box DataMatrix codes using an app with 100% success rate today. The info was linked on another post here but came from the Lego Reddit (which has all the unique codes listed). I seemed to have some trouble scanning the smaller codes, but I wasn’t too concerned about getting any of those today and focused on finding a Batlord, Goat Herder, and Barbarian.

Thanks for sharing! That’s interesting to do.

Stopped in at the local Target and used the aforementioned Scan app on the Dot Matrix. Was 100% accurate on all boxes with a large Matrix. Did not work on the small version of the Matrix though. Grabbed a couple to see what they might be. They were fitness girl and triceratops costume.  Perhaps these are the only two characters that were run as a small Dot Matrix?

I hope I'm able to find some of these in a store at some point.  Fortunately the two missing codes are figures I don't want more of since I'll be getting two sets through an order one of my fellow LUG members placed.

I would guess all of them can have it. Maybe it is just one of the production line having the small code or whatever - anyways one of the reviews had the barbarian as only figure having the small code, so it does seem very likely it can just be all of them.

Was able to get 2 Goatherds & a Train Kid by scanning the QR codes in Target today.  I did scan a couple that seemed to be the Barbarian and a few the Pet Groomer according to the codes posted on reddit.  Was only able to get the QR codes to scan on about half the boxes I tried.

I don’t know where you are from but thanks for letting us know that there are Series 25 in Target! Also, thanks for reporting to us about saving.

The weights by scale are inconsistent.

True but the issue isn’t really consistency but overlap. From the weights I compiled above, you can be certain of getting the Train Boy for example. However, some will indeed  be hard to distinguish by weight alone; the Sprinter, Triceratops Guy and Mushroom Sprite are easily mixed up for example.

The endoscope method will probably be frowned upon by retailers as it may appear to them that you’re damaging the box (even if you’re not - they don’t know). The weight method, in contrast, is obviously non-damaging.

The large QR approach seems promising but all the reports of it that I’m aware of refer to production from the Mexican factory. In Europe where I am, it’s unclear whether the QR method will work as the factory(ies) that serve Europe may use the smaller QRs only. If anyone in Europe can shed some light on the QRs here, that would be great.

Indeed. To that end, have any of this series showed up in the wild in Europe yet?

Any one have the Target DPCI ?

Code on my receipt is 204001379 LEGO 71028.  71028 is the number for the Harry Potter CMF's which I guess is why they don't come up as do not sell before January 1.  Gotta love Target's screwy inventory control system.  I know when I got the Disney ones last year the code coming up was also for a previous series.

The review I was talking about is from a german Blog - their boxes were packed in Czech Republik. As mentioned above they only had the barbarian with small codes (6 of them, from two 36-packs).

However when I look at the pictures posted of the big and small codes, the small codes state they are packaged in calendar week 42 or 44 - while the big codes have 46 printed on them. Based on few pictures you of course can´t make a reliable conclusion but it seems to me like they changed to the bigger codes while they were already packaging those figures.

However they also included a picture of two boxes with small and big code and when you scan the big one it shows you 6472869 as the first number - reddid says 6471969 is the E-Sport-Girl, however as you can see the numbers are different - and the box included the Triceratops guy, so it doesn´t seem like it is just the 4th and 5th number beeing different by packaging location. Of course it is possible that the last four numbers are different between mexico and czech and all european boxes have the same system but different codes.

Since you're in Europe, you can't get your hands o. That 12 pack hanger box that gets you a complete set?

The only country that was sold in was denmark for the last series - and at least in Germany there is no sign it would be sold this time either. I think someone in this forum stated it was sold in one other country (sweden if I remember correctly) but that should be it.
