msk6003 Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 It seems that the successor to the McLaren P1 is scheduled to be released this year. According to the first address below, it will be released in the fourth quarter (very close to June when the Lego model will be released), limited to 400 units, and rumor has it that the V8 hybrid will be equipped with gullwing doors. The current code name is P18. Other rumor or information can find on google search 'Mclaren P18' https://supercarblondie.com/mclaren-p1-successor-details-emerge/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR3pEvZWhFgUWJ4Q7LAm6oxiC_zD2aLkkCkPD6FpB15pdzFVIcOVSdO_fJ4_aem_AV96_xqBZvk22p7P0qV2v1S9iY_li2nmCsMWKJ-zVNt6a-LTGvSf2JPoZj5CvGUZWIRfi7VGrW2uAFZpDZuojUmi https://www.motor1.com/news/717188/mclaren-p1-successor-new-v8/ Quote
thekoRngear Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 (edited) Racingbrick's review for Icons set 10334 is out. And OMG it has a gearbox inside (featuring the orange wave selector) which all the Technic sets minus the Kawasaki released so far in 2024 don't have! 42172 and 42177! Come out come out! The set is excellent, by the way. Edited May 17, 2024 by thekoRngear Quote
Timorzelorzworz Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 The new worm gear part which is stackable seems to be very attraktive. Besides this radio it appears in the new City crane and also in Friends Set for an elevator. Just a Matter of time coming to proper Technic sets Quote

Come out come out! The set is excellent, by the way. That's quite cool and also saddening to see a non-Technic set having a better functionality (along with the Ornithopter) than some Technic set. Also, what bothers me more instead of the orange wave selector is the lack of L and XL linear actuators in recent years (last one was in 2021 and likely we won't get this year). I mean, it's great to have pneumatic models every year, but a set with one of these LAs still wanted for me. Quote

A gearbox, at the end of the day, is a gearbox. So, it has it. By it I meant gearbox which I am pretty much sure everyone understands it. What I bracketed in my post is a further information. Let me get it very clear to ya: all the Technic sets released SO FAR in 2024 except for a two-wheeler (otherwise known as a bike under the brand Kawaski, thanks to ur correction) do not have a gearbox which the 10334 Icons set has. What kind of rotary catches they have is a sub/different topic. Edited May 17, 2024 by thekoRngear Quote

You know a gear box doesnt have to change gear ratios right? The fixed reduction stage in front of an electric motor is often just called a gearbox. so technically speaking any technic set with two or more gears has come with a gearbox. Any more edits from you? Quote
Timorzelorzworz Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Does someone know why the FRIENDs Sets shares the 42xxx product numbers with Technic this year? Looks like Technic is getting new numbers maybe next year. Its uncommon that two powerful but independent themes shares the same numbers Quote

Its uncommon that two powerful but independent themes shares the same numbers We have had the 42xxx series for eleven years now; I think that's the longest Technic has ever used a set of numbers. Personally I've become quite attached to it, so it'd be a shame if it switched in 2025. Edited May 18, 2024 by Maaboo the Witch Quote
Timorzelorzworz Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Friends is the new 42xxx and Technic can't go above 42600 number. Still a lot of room for models but very unusual to have the same numbers in two different themes now. Quote
N-4K0 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Strange with Friends using 42xxx set numbers. Is there any other range of 4xxxx that isn't being used? Maybe Technic could move to that, but in that case it's strange that they didn't move Friends there, but chose the one Technic has had for ages now. Quote

Its even more strange that Friends moves to 42xxx this year in 2024 and not in 2023 with the reboot of the theme. So the "new" Friends theme had 41xxx only for a year in 2023 and now 42xxx which means that Technic needs to be moved any days Edited May 18, 2024 by Timorzelorzworz Quote
AVCampos Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 LEGO set numbering has always been inconsistent, so Friends taking the 42s doesn't surprise me. Technic was until now the exception. Quote
Stereo Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 I suppose they figured 180 sets in 11 years means leaving ~420 unused spots is enough for the foreseeable future. Even if they went to 50% more sets per year (because of small set recolours or something) it'd be another 17 years before it's a problem. I am a bit curious how the set numbering worked when Technic was in the 8000-9000 range though, the sets I have from back then seem to jump completely randomly other than small groups like 8444, 8445, 8446, 8448 all being from 1999. Jockos Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Well, I wouldn't worry about numbering for about 12-13 years, and even when they reach the "end", they can always pick another starting point. Also, there are some missing spots ( e.g. 42012-42019) to be filled. Quote
