Is it me or is this year particularly bad for technic? It's mostly boring cars, couple of decent space sets and a poor Volvo truck. Nothing stands out, if you're not a fan of space or cars you basically have a year off of lego.

Looking at the current lineup, I can only conclude you are not wrong. I do love the space sets, but that's not because they are so technically engaging. So yeah, I definitely get your point.

I'm ok to this year's technic. Even space sets without orrery is less mechanical than other sets but Koenigsegg is bring back differential with very interesting door mechanism.

Only set which I don't like is porsche. Especially new hub.

The only thing missing from this year is a "one-piece", big construction machine with plenty of functions (at least 4-5, not counting steering and drivetrain)

This year, last year, the year before that and so on until you go back to 2018 or so... If anything, for me this year was a slight uptick because of space, if these had any B-models I might had actually considered buying a couple of sets.

My wallet speaks for itselft, not a single penny were or will be spent this year on a new technic sets :) in comparison, last year I spent 500 euros for Liebherr crane and 120 euros for Airbus helicopter. So yeah, for me it is also a bad year, but it is hard to be a good one because are I am not collecting cars/bikes or non motorised sets.

Exactly how I feel about 2024. Still waiting for a proper Technic flagship this year... something with a few nice mechanisms.

After an already somewhat disappointing 2023 this makes it especially bad

I've already bought 8 Technic sets this year and I might buy two more from the upcoming sets. This is more than any other year before for me. So it might as well be the best year for Technic.

I think the smaller sets are better than previous years. For example I never bought one of the Monster Jam pull backs. Because I don't watch the show and without this background a car with a dog face for example is nothing that I need. But this year I've bought both of the smaller pull backs.

Before we do move on (and I think the above link says enough, thanks @AVCampos), I'll just state that I am utterly disgusted that TLG chose to have anything to do with NEOM, and that it has actually shaken my opinion of the brand like nothing has before.

I wasn't personally attacking @Gumalca either; people can buy what they like. I am merely stating my opinion on the matter, and I would like to raise as much awareness of the matter as possible.

The flagship this year is supposedly a McLaren (probably whatever the latest "if you have to ask what it costs, you can't afford it" hypercar McLaren wants to promote is)

We do still have the G Class Benz and the reported "watercraft"

Interesting that neither gt3 rs , Chiron, Sian or Daytona was considered a flagship at the time of release. 42183 is still a blank number (I really hope it will be 42131 CAT dozer replacement).
