You are right of course. Don't know why I thought the speed difference would be 1:5. Since these are the only visible gears included in the set, I think the speed difference will be only 1:2 (logo: flywheel), while the crank rotates at 12:20*36:28 = 1.29:1 compared to the flywheel.

I can't really see a good use of the differential, except maybe it's cheaper & lower friction than the 28t turntable.  I guess technically another option is using non gear based linkages, like you could have the P1 rotate back and forth using the pinholes on the 36t gear and a 4 bar type linkage.  But I'm not sure if the differential would even be useful assembled for that, vs. just using it as a 28T gear with pinhole.

This is how the brickbuilt P1 logo is done and fixed. I think the "TM" is also a print on a 1x2 beam or a micro-panel. Or #6 connector + 1x3 beam is also possible.

He's credited here as an Element Designer 

 

The magazine mentions that as well! He also designed the tyres for 42160.

It's out in Germany as well. The helicopter will release on August 23rd. Screw Blue Ocean and their greedy price increases. No way I am paying 7 Euro for less pieces than in the 4€ official LEGO polybags and 40/86 are cheap chain links. Half the brochure is only advertisement.

I was running the mag through the checkout and couldn't believe it when I saw the price - £5.99. So, a smaller and less detailed model, and repeated features/puzzles, for a higher cost. Not a great business model.

I do like the wrecking ball, don't get me wrong, but the Mars Perseverance rover polybag would definitely have been better value.

Just think about it. With 3€/3£ more you can buy the Heavy Duty Bulldozer, a proper set in a box with printed instructions and with 195 pieces of which 48 are the larger chain link pieces...

The 2-in-1 logo also appears on the first page, despite no longer being a component of this theme.

You guys all complaining about the price! In the U.S. we can't even get these magazines! I'd pay extra to have these shipped to me! (In case some enterprising individual wants to be in the business of Lego magazine arbitrage)

There is some kind of dark turquoise beam on next of other dark turquoise parts. I don't know what is it but it can possible 32348 4-4 bent beam or 32140 2x4 ㄱ beam.

If it is 32348, it's new in dark turquoise. Or if it is 32140, It is rare part in dark turquoise. 9 in 3 set, last release is 2020.

That's an interesting choice, and some new mechanisms going on in there, at least some novelty. Unfortunately not that many teal pieces included so that they would start to be useful a a color.. (much of the teal here is just stickers)

But now that we know that the supercar is probably going to be bright light orange, and the new teal parts are for this one, it suggests that the new purple parts will go into the G-wagon..

The fact that its based off a New Zealand boat takes away any interest I have in it (any fellow Aussies will know why :)

 

Lego has posted more pictures on their site and interestingly it also has pneumatic functions

TLG likely doesn't want to be sued by parents whose children drowned while trying to get their runaway boat back.

I have no idea how 42105 got the green light, but as a MOCer I'm glad it did.

Why would it need to float if the real thing literally lifts out of the water at higher speed?

The pneumatic function is the lifting of the two foils. I think it's a really cool and bold choice for a set and a nice change from all the vehicles we usually get in the Technic theme. It's also huge and those plastic sails must be a record breaker in terms of size as well.
P.S. This yacht is powered by human power (cyclists) so it's cool to add a crank shaft underneath to replicate the propulsion method. Kudos to the designer who worked on this.
