I smell 2024 lineup review I dig in. It's definitely not one of the worst years in terms of Technic (but was dangerously close to being). And, the Space theme although at first looks exciting but as Maboo-the-bear said soon turns out boring.

The 42176 is a disappointment but its building techniques are really interesting and so is its parts package.

The Yacht and Looner Rover are pure display queens but at least they are not poorly designed. Lots of efforts are gone into them. The F1 is a forgettable queen. Them three are infact easy-to-be-forgotten.

The 42172 is what it is whether we hate it or like it. From what I have seen its gearbox works pretty damn good.

The 42177 is a pretty good parts package along with potential MOC/alternate model sourcing. I see it as a box full of parts that (hopefully) continue to let amazing MOCs born.

I will not put 42173 aka the Jesco in the rest of the car lineup disappointment. It definitely stands out in terms of functionality, Technicalities and also quite good in terms of parts packaging.

My 2nd favourite is the 42167 Garbage truck. For its size it plays and feels so well.

The 42175 just won my heart. It is my most favorite Technic set of 2024 and IMHO one of the best sets for the said year (or even for the recent years).

I think the 42179 Orrery must be one of if not the best set of this year, because it captures the spirit of Technic so well with interesting mechanics that you can actually see instead of everything being hidden behind panelling. It's also something entirely new and different and mostly well executed, though I feel aesthetics could've been a bit better.

The 42167 Mack truck is a great set on the smaller end with interesting and novel main function.

The 42175 Volvo truck+excavator seem nicely executed and all around good set in the spirit of Technic, though adding third movement for the bucket would've been a great improvement.

The 42182 lunar rover seems also nice set with novel functionality and is a must for any space fans.

The 42174 boat also has some nice functionality, but as is the case with most watercraft in Technic, it suffers from not being able to show the functions off in any capacity, while also being probably too big to be playable.

The other Space sets are nice, themed addition to the lineup and I'm sure kids will love those.

The rest, entirely forgettable and good only as parts packs.

Not terrible year but not very good either.

The only set I bought new this year was the brilliant Creator 3-in-1 Fox, first time in my life that I am more interested in new System releases than Technic.

Yep, I have that set as well! Like I said, Creator and Animal Crossing are much better choices this year.

I hope that the Creator line's 3in1 builds will remain forever, and not become only main model sets

We're not expecting any more sets for 2024, are we? I'm hoping to start work on the 2024 addition to my Technic "visual dictionary" (See signature) soon, and it'd be annoying if something else came out unexpectedly!

We had a small chat in the 2025 discussion a couple of days ago.

Your chassis is different from my approach.

Silly me. Don't know how I missed that, probably because I didn't think to look at the 2025 posting for a 2024 set. ;)

Your build makes total sense. I'll crawl back to my corner of shame now. :)

Seems that the Hungarians skipped a magazine number and are only at issue #3 with the Fire Truck. Release date in HU was yesterday.
Maybe @kbalage wants to do a first review of all 2024 magazine gift paper bags and compare them to the 2025 Skid Steer Loader?
