Please note this is a Mini Set entry .

I decided to build another entry, and felt like trying to make a small raft. So I built a remake of 6234. My build has exactly 50 pieces.

Theme

There's a minifig, a shark and a pistol, which is already enough. But you then also add a lot of room for posing the man on the raft, a small paddle and a knife, which gives a lot of options for kids. I quite like it, but I'd have replaced the knife with a gem hidden in one of the barrels, which would add some extra playability.

Build

The mix of tan, brown and black and brown is quite satisfying, but the sails look strange, since I've yet to see a green-sailed ship, and I think white or light tan would give a better contrast to the brown bottom. And I will say the hull is very tall, but I understand why.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions!

Regarding the sails, I have blue and red flags that I can use. I will not be able to get hold of tan flags or black flags in time. White flags in the current mold does not exist (I do have two old ones). What do you think of the below versions?

The red and white is closest to the coloring of recent pirate ship sails I guess...

I think the pirate needs the knife (it replaces the sabre he had in the original set), but there is a plate that I can change to a gold bar.

Other that the green sails the set looks perfect it has lots of playability and looks great, so Happy building :)

I personally quite like the white and red sails, but red could also work. As for the knife, that's your choice and the solution for extra treasure is brilliant (and shows why 50 part builds are so much fun).

I agree with @Horation the red and white look the best :)

Yeah, the white and red sails look surprisingly great.  Keep them!

I feel like a smaller raft would fit the original set's charm better: 4 barrels instead of 6 might do the trick.  Or, 1x1 barrels (like the original) but combined with some SNOT, log profile bricks, and some round 1 x 1 tiles with Tree Stump / Wood Log Grain Pattern.

It would also be cool if the paddle (one is probably enough) could be angled into the water.

I think this is a great little build as is, though -- very fun and charming, and a great upgrade to the original set.

Cool idea! I actually like those green sails, they may not be something classic  withing Lego Pirates, but it does work for me. If i'd change something then two things...

on the first photo i thought i saw a spear in the place of Your second oar... which then turned to be oar... and somehow, this idea stuck in me. I'd say giving him one spear in place of one of Your oars could give this set more play value, and more parts. He could have a chance to fight that shark of, or even hunt it for food.

And then, his head. I can see that in his situation he might wanna get himself into a state of illusive happiness, but I'd prefer to change it into a scared face. I think it would work better :)

I agree that 4 barrels would work better for the size here and maybe flip the 4x6 plate around to go with the fewer barrels. Also the minifig needs the head upgrade and I'm totally for the red and white flag sails! Other than that I think the sword and extra oar holder is a bit out of place just sticking from the side. Maybe skip the extra oar and try integrating the clip for the sword into the mast somehow? Otherwise a really nice looking remake!

Very nice build. I like the red and white sails a lot.
