Thirdwigg Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 This really great @Ngoc Nguyen, and the looks are spot on. It's too bad you cannot move the turntable back a stud, but keeping the function makes up for the perfect cab placement I think. Quote

Actually I have figured out the way to move the rear hitch knob one stud back, so I already managed to move the turntable back one stud. Now I only have to redesign the cabin. Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted August 14, 2023 Author Posted August 14, 2023 It's one week til deadline and I think I need to redo the whole chassis. Panik panik panik!! Quote
1gor Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 As tractors builder I think there is no need for panic; it looks extraordinary; besides image that you posted (of real Xerion VC) has focus in stairs, so due to petspective cab is a bit behind rear axle, so in your scale ½ stud is not somethibg that IMHO deserves panic and redesign... Ngoc Nguyen Posted August 16, 2023 Author Posted August 16, 2023 I ordered parts yesterday but the order hasnt even been shipped. There goes my plan A. I think I'll have to move to plan B ASAP. This would require me to take parts from various sets to build the model. Most of the parts I used are common parts that can be found in other sets, and I have enough sets to pick from. The only new parts that I use in the model are: - 1x Panel #7 and 1x Panel #8 (micro panels) in Lime. - 4x flip flop liftarm in Black. For the panels, I will definitely have to buy the Lamborghini Huracan because they only appear in that set. The problem is which set to buy for the 4x flip flop beam in Black. The only sets so far that have that piece is the Perseverance, the Yamaha Bike, and the Audi. None of them has 4 of that pieces. The Perseverance and Audi have 2, while the Yamaha has 1. If I allow DBG as well then the Audi and the Yamaha can supply more than enough. I like the Audi but not the C+ version so I dont wanna buy the stock version. I think I'll get the Yamaha bike. Quote
1gor Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Uf, another unnecessary ecpenses just because sellers think that Unuverse exists only for them... I hope you won't end up as I with full bag of extra (baloon) tires Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted August 16, 2023 Author Posted August 16, 2023 (edited) Sets acquired: I managed to reduce the required number of 7L flipflop beams to 2, and the NASA set has 2, so I got that set instead of the Yamaha bike. Edited August 16, 2023 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted August 16, 2023 Author Posted August 16, 2023 (edited) Apparently there is also one part that is rarer than I thought: the rims in red. Even though it appears in many other themes as well, I only collect Technic sets, and the only Technic set in which that the rim has appeared in red is: Gotta make a trip to the toy store tmr Edited August 16, 2023 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
lcvisser Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Love your dedication! I hope you finish on time, the tractor looks really good. Quote
1gor Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Now you could make huge poster of Lego Technic boxes since you have lots of sets Tomorrow is the most important day then. Good luck with purchase and happy building. Quote

Ngoc Nguyen Posted August 18, 2023 Author Posted August 18, 2023 (edited) I still need a fair amount of parts, and the only Technic piece vendor in my country is not in my city. They say there's no guarantee that the parts will arrive on August 21st. Even if I pick the parts from my current collection of sets, there are some parts that don't exist in there, which means I will have to buy another couple of sets just to get those parts. I already have to spent money on the NASA and the Huracan, which are not the sets I intend to buy in the beginning but I only bought for this competition. I'm not in the mood for buying a couple of more sets just to have enough parts to get this done by August 21st. Working on this set is fun, by getting the parts especially in a race against the deadline is not fun. The latter starts sucking the fun out of this experience. I dont know what to do next. MangaNOID Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Compromise is very frustrating! I wish I could have bought a whole bunch of blue half beans for my build but I had no budget for this TC at all and blue half beams are very expensive in quantity. Just enter with what you can do there is only a few days. And oh the irony if you win a prize and it’s what you already just bought 😁 Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted August 18, 2023 Author Posted August 18, 2023 Aaaaaaand the 3 mode steering doesn't work. I feel utterly defeated. Quote

On one side I admire your fast development in digital environment, but this is why I ended up on old school development; manual. Manual is the only way to be certain that some solution works in real life. I suppose steering modes don't work becsuse you put cab one stud backwards? Quote
